I am in Gilbert and will take two. I can meet at BPS as well but can't do Sunday's or Wednesdays. Let me know how you want to handle it.

Dustin and I just applied for elk together, I hope some of your good Mojo rubs off on the Desert Country Archery Crew. I'd really like to have a tag.

You're golden. Congrats on your elk tag and more importantly congrats on your recovery. Prayers it continues without interruption.

Why Can't The Fools At AZGFD Get There Sheet Together
Flatlander replied to hawkeye's topic in Elk Hunting
I bet you come unglued when someone messes up your order too. It's got to be exhausting being that worked up over the small stuff. -
I don't think its that sad. Going out of state for antelope is a good option and quality hunts can be had. But if you only want to hunt GIANT bulls in the smack dab middle of the rut, with a rifle, there are not many options much better than AZ. Factor in the relative ease of the country that our elk live in compared to other states, and this hunt is a dream. For a similar experience guys could spend thousands to go hunt WMAT, or private ground in NM. Most of the out of state options are not much better than hunting tags you can get every year in AZ. For example; November rifle bull hunts require anywhere from 3-8 bonus points to draw in AZ. If you have a loyalty point and hunter ed point, you could have a rifle bull tag every other year. These November bull hunts are equally as good and sometimes better than general tags in other states. When you start looking at limited entry tags in other states, the draw odds are not much better. In reality I would compare many of our limited opp hunts to general seasons in other states. One of the biggest problems I see with people here in AZ is that they see what other people are doing, and just want to do the same thing. Someone draws a early rifle tag with 3 bonus points, tells everyone about it and the next thing you know, 15 more people are joining the party hoping for their lottery ticket. Antelope is a bit of a different story, with the number of people in this state, we just can't compete with NM and Wyoming. If you compare our odds with states like UT and NV, I would say you get a much better hunt out of a draw situation that isn't much different. I would prefer to see a switch in philosophy and have more archery tags offered and fewer rifle tags. But for many in AZ they feel like they waited all this time they can't just give up and use a bow. They want to hunt with a gun, so that makes success near 100%. If people were looking for the experience more and killing a giant less, we could have far more archer's out there, increase the number of days each guy gets in the field, therefore enhancing the experience, and issue more tags at the same time. But AZ hunter's want their early bull tags and rifle goat tags, so let them wait. There is nowhere else in the country they can get the hunt they are looking for.

I assume this means 11 total Bonus points for the group and not an average of 11. If this is the case 20%. If you have an average of 11 pts go apply for an archery bull tag. 9% or you could go one unit west for a bump to 12% 4%, 7% 4%, 4% 11%, 15% Probably 1%, this unit has crept a point pretty much every year. At 18 pts you have some options, but Unit 1 isn't really a high probability one. I would say you are about 50/50 on the rifle hunt and 100% on the archery. 2%, 10% Right now 19 bp will put him in the bonus pass and last year for the 27 hunt early rifle hunt there were no 20 BP applicants, so he's got a chance at tags before the quota are met already. Stickit out another year or two and it should happen. On a year when the ML tag rolls around that will get even better. 7%, 10%, 6% 8% 9% 40%
-
Last year 40% of the guys with 22 pts drew unit 9. The trouble is that 12 of them didn't. So expect that hunt to creep a point this year, putting your odds back at 2%. Unit 7 had 4 guys bump up to 23 pts, so with 9 bonus pas tags, there is a chance you can get in there. Your problem is going to be applying together makes the last bonus pass tag unavailable to you, because if you one of you were selected for it, there would not be a tag for the second applicant. You may consider applying seperately to cut your wait down. 8% 100%

Yeah, the unit 9 archery hunt is a WASTE of points. Don't apply for it. Won't be anything over 280" left after these 25 guys get done. Are there even 25 bulls in the unit?

1%, 1% 3% It's a cruel world. But, 11 BP starts getting you in the mix for some pretty sweet archery tags. 100%, 6% (almost to the bonus pass), 100%, 100%, 5% North, 8% South Last year 4 out of 5 guys with 22 points drew, with only one guy carrying through, this could be the year. There were 21 other guys with 21 pts who applied last year, so you will have to beat them out but that is a lot better odds than the 3,300 applicants you were fighting last year. 12% And another friendly request that those who ask for help give a little in return. See info below: ****Update**** Many folks on here have asked how to thank me, or offered to buy me a beer for my efforts. In lieu of killing my liver with 40 or 50 cold ones, I propose somehting else. If you would like to somehow thank me or the site for providing this information, please donate the $3 that beer would have cost you to Bowhunter4life's gofundme site. His son is battling Hodgkins Lymphoma and they are going to need all the help they can get. So, if you have received or would like to receive draw info please donate $3 via the link below. Hey Bill, you are kind of killing my game here. Heat, don't listen to him. You will never regret this decision. It's just dirt and trees. You are doing the right thing. Let me know what you want for it. 😃 -

Lots of good archery hunts.

1%, 1% in regard to 3rd choice for antelope, thee are no hunts which can be drawn as a 3rd choice that hunt as a 1-2 choice is also 1% Still 1% and 1%, but marginally higher than with 13 bonus points. What hurts you here is that with very few tags available, you are hoping that 2 tags are still available if and when the numbers come up. 2%, 1% 1%, 3% 3%, 5% (By the way I am assuming you used 2015 hunt numbers because 3142 in 2014 was a late archery hunt) 10%, 14% 2% , same as it was on the post above 4%, 12%, 5% I am not suggesting that you don't burn your points on the other hunts, just be careful what order you apply in. If you want one of those other tags, by all means, put them down. But if you really want a chance at that early rifle tag, put a second choice that you won't draw in the bonus pass (like what is listed in this post) Good luck! As a resident you would be 26% in unit 10. As a NR, its a little tougher to tell but there should be some NR tags left after the BP. That Unit 10 antelope tag is not going to happen though, sorry. 2014 or 2015 hunt numbers? I ask for 2014 because that is what my tables are based on, but I have suspicion that these are 2015, just want to clarify before I post the wrong data, in this case it makes a BIG difference. 3%, 7% 11%, 16%

Diamond Infinite Edge. Adjustable from 5-70 lbs and draw from 13" to 30". Bought it fr my 4&5 yr old boys for their birthday. They could draw it even at that age, just needed help holding the bow up with their left hand.

11% Not sure I can answer this one. Please clarify ant and whether these hunts are archery, rifle or muzzleloader. Sorrry, post again and I will get you what you need. If you do it that way you will most likely draw the 3a/3c tag in the bonus pass and not ever be considered for the 5a rifle tag. Which, in my opinion, is probably just fine. But if you really want the 5a early rifle tag you may want to consider a more difficult second choice such as Unit 1, 23 or 9. But your chance of drawing the early 5a tag in the 1-2 pass is going to be single digits. You should be 100% on everything but the Unit and the rifle tag. Think carefully, your fixing to burn some points. 22 only has one archery hunt and its for the entire unit - 7% (this hunt used to be a sleeper, no more. Its one of thee toughest in the state to draw, in just a few years it has gone from sleeper to OVERRATED) 8% 25% No worries. - Last year Unit 9 had 12 guys who applied with 22 pts and did not get drawn. Look for them to repeat again this year. This leaves you just out of the bonus pass and fighting 2% odds. Unit 10 was a similar story with 10 hold overs from the 22 pt pool. However with 20 tags available via the bonus pass this year, you will have a chance at securing at putting those bonus points to work and getting a tag before the unit creeps another point. I put our chances around 1 in 10. Tell him to keep his chin up. We want to see some field photo's of him this fall! I am sure somehow, some way he will end up with a decent tag or two.

BNSF in Flag was hiring a few weeks ago. Also Diversified Metal Fabrication will hire good welder a anytime. It won't pay like the oil fields but it will pay, barely.

Hmmm, sound good, not that I would know of course. Might as well be Loch Ness Monster tacos from my experiences te last several years.
