Had a Successful Year of Hunting
Flatlander replied to wildcat's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Sweet critters, terrible hat. -
Casey, should we resurrect your comments after last year's PAC 12 championship? Pot, I would like you to meet the kettle . . . As far as ASU vs U of A this year I got nothin. You guys were better. Not a lot else to say. Now go beat your chest and take a selfie at the Fiesta bowl. Maybe with the game right here in town Cat fans can find a way to show up at the game. Those of you with jobs should be able to get time off this year since Wal Mart's Christmas rush will be over.

Congrats on a once in a lifetime adventure!

This is terrible news. We are praying for you here Ernesto! Let us know if we can help.

Nice work! Those are stud bulls

Awesome late season bull! Amazing how the golden rule is applicable in all situations.

Looks like a great day with dad. I, for one, hope her luck stops there. Congrats!

No they didn't. What you are saying is incorrect. In the first pass of the draw 20% of the tags are given to the applicants with the most bonus points who selected each hunt as their first or second choice. In the second pass, the remaining 80% are given to applicants who selected each hunt as their first or second choice, in that order, starting with the applicant with the lowest random number and progressing to the highest. After that pass unsuccessful applications are reviewed for their 3-4 choices in order of random number. Then again for 5th choice. If you were awarded a 3rd choice permit and there were leftovers for your 1st or second I would love to see your application. This has been mentioned by others in the past but each time it has been debunked when they looked at their application. Putting the same hunt as both 1st and second does not do anything that simply skipping the second choice would not accomplish. For 3-5 choice no consideration is given to bonus points. What is important to remember is that if your second choice is easier to draw than your first, it is possible to draw a second choice in the first pass (20% or bonus pass) without having an opportunity to draw your first choice in the 1-2 pass. Careful study of the draw process as outlined by AZGFD on their website will help clear up misconceptions and confusion on this topic. And oh by the way, AZGFD didn't stick it to anyone in this case.

You guys knocked it out of the park on that hunt this year.

I am not clear on what you are saying happened. You drew a third choice and your first was available via leftovers or the second pass of the regular draw?

A remote control. I don't draw elk tags, so all my elk hunting happens one DVR.

Same buck?

With the limited number of access points in that unit it's tough to get away from the crowds without a serious hike. That unit is rough, but it's all Couse country. Good luck!

Awesome story Christian! Welcome to the club and keep up the good work! Thanks for sharing.

Pup's first pheasant hunt

Man, I wish I knew about this earlier. I've spent way too many years glassing for quail! -
Congrats on the buck! Bigger congrats on living up to your commitments and paying off that debt. Hard work pays dividends, props to you.
-
I had glassed for a total of 10 minutes on my deer hunt last week when I glassed up a javi. Happens every time. I'll go back in 6 weeks with a pig tag and won't find any for the whole month of January.

Awesome story. And 865, good grief!

Awesome buck! And that does look like one heck of a hole he was in. I didn't know places like that even existed on the Strip.

Looks like fun
