I hope it's a great one. A day in the hills would be a perfect birthday.

I have never seen a mule deer rut in November here in AZ, but Lance is a smart guy who spends plenty of time in the woods. Anyways I digress . . . The desert in 24b, 37, 21, 22 and the 40's all have plenty of deer. Find some water sources and start hoof tracking where possible. That will give you an idea of where they head after water. Then get up high and glass those areas with your bino's on a tripod. Be patient it takes time to learn how to be effective with glass and the only way to get better is do it more. Archery mom permit tags are good for all open units so just make sure you are in an open area and get after it. Good luck and have fun.

Awesome story, it makes me giddy thinking those days are just a few short years away for our family. Great job Dad and even better job Sydney! Congrats to an outdoor family.

Yeah archery 33 always has leftovers

Great buck. I would love to put that bigger on my wall. Looks like some great country too, I love hunting those mulies up high.

Just got on a plane and won't be able to watch this for a few hours, it's killing me.

Congrats on a well deserved trophy

Been thinking about this all week. Congrats Hector! There isn't a better guy out there for this to happen for.

I'm not sure what is making me breath harder that buck or addicted's avatar pic. Congrats on a real beauty.

Hate to beat a dead horse but anyone else having trouble loading draw page
Flatlander replied to BigMoqui's topic in The Campfire
I did it at 6:30 last night without any issue. Seems like that should have been a peak time. I'm wondering if it's an issue relates to specific browsers or people's networks. -
National Guard - anyone have any experience?
Flatlander replied to bowsniper's topic in The Campfire
Man lots of good dudes here who have served our nation. Props to all of you. If it's any help I have a coworker who is a full bird colonel in the Army Reserves. If your boy wants to talk to him I am sure he would be glad to take the time. -
Hmmm, am I the only one who was thinking Pendelton, OR? I suppose it makes sense that he would be stationed at CAMP Pendelton. Good luck on your hunt, and here is a hint, if Edge is offering, I would be accepting.

Congrats and good job. I can hardly wait for my boys to get there.

Video of my son Isaac and his close calls with a couple bulls
Flatlander replied to GRONG's topic in Elk Hunting
That was sweet. Props to your boy, it would have been tough to keep cool in that situation. -
He said he is going into the wilderness. Queen valley and peralta aren't in the wilderness. If he was to hike in to the wilderness from there, he would be in deer country. South of Tucson brings a new set of considerations to the table for somebody who is not familiar with the border. No one even mentioned 37b, and since he specifically mentioned coues in the wilderness I don't think you have anything to worry about. No need to try and protect your spots from this non-scouter.

You're wrong. It changed. And AZ wilderness, licenses bought online have always been effective the date of purchase, licenses bought via permit application were not effective until the date of the draw. And every time something changes OMG azgfd is trying to screw everyone, actually no. If you would have attended ANY of their public input sessions, you would have known that they were actually trying to save people $. It's not worth rehashing here. People believe what they want to believe.

Wow, talk about zombie thread

Sometimes I feel bad for AZGFD. So many lamp lovers out there, so little time to personally explain every detail of the regs to each one personally.

Going back to Mexico on a coues hunt
Flatlander replied to Couestracker's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
Wow. -
If I was doing this hunt it would be in 24B, but that's because I know the unit well. There are quite a few good wilderness opportunities in this state. Take a sweater, January can be a tit bit nipply out there.
