I would avoid pine trees. That should be enough info to get you pointed in the right direction

I killed an elk on that hunt once. I mean, I was a dumb kid who didn't know how to do much other than walk and glass, but it worked out. It did require a scouting trip, where I never got out of the truck. And the hunt wasn't easy, I didn't kill until 9:00 AM. Admittedly, I got lucky, but there are elk there and I would rate it slightly ahead of the OTC hunts and on par with general hunts in most other states. Tough, but do-able.

Nice! I had no idea I was in a competition.

My bad. I must have got my stories from years past crossed up. I do know that someone on here has a group of guys that hunts this hunt regularly. Unfortunately for these guys it's not you.

Are these just bullets or are they factory loaded rounds? -
Yeah now the 19,000 applicants for leftovers is going to balloon into 20,000. It's a long shot either way. I send in my app every year and have never been selected. Just get a returned envelope.

Happens every year. Someone makes an error, raises heck, finds out they actually did make a mistake. I've done it myself. Always make a copy. Good luck on the cow hunt and try to stay away from bridges and skyscrapers for a while.

Those limited opp leftovers go quick not a reliable backup plan

The reason I apply for muzzleloader hunts is to improve draw odds, not for an anachronistic experience. When I want a primitive weapon experience I bow hunt. In this case the experience I was seeking was the experience of wrapping my tag around a big black antelope cutter. I don't think anybody would hand you your head for anything you said, but some might suggest you start a new thread where you can setup your soap box instead of hijacking an existing one. To each his own, good luck and many props to you for doing it the hard way.

Pressure is off flatlander. We have a new person to kick in the nuts! Mob rule. Take him to the square! Hold on, I didn't start this thread or make any predictions. My jewels have taken enough abuse for a lifetime already today.

Dude, it's not the size of the ship it's the motion in the ocean that counts. This ship won't be seeing open water for a while. Guess you could say it is dry slipped at the moment.

Had a little work done downstairs today and it hurts to laugh. Reading this thread was a monumental mistake.

Well James I am having a "medical procedure" (snip, snip) done on Friday so I am not sure how mobile I will be Saturday. Sounds like you will be busy with rock anyway. Remember to bend at the knees!
