It was a great time. I could not believe how low the African hunts in the live auction went for. Nice to meet a few of you last night.

General Coues hunting question #2
Flatlander replied to macknnc's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
As Brian is alluding to, each year hundreds of tags go un-issued via the draw process. The tags not issued are then available first come first serve via USPS to the AZGFD, followed by in person. There are plenty of leftover tags and if you want to hunt coues deer in any given year, tags are likely to be available until mid to late summer. -
AZGFD opened a can of worms by not hitting cards immediately after the update deadline like they have done in the past.

General Coues hunting question #2
Flatlander replied to macknnc's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
No . . . and yes. Every rifle deer tag in AZ is issued via the draw. I would say that roughly 60% of tags can be drawn every year regardless of bonus points. The hunts that become difficult to draw are December rifle hunts. These hunts are intended to be in the rut and last 15-20 days as opposed to the typical 7. December rifle coues tags could take up to 7 or 8 years to draw depending on the unit you are applying for. -
Congrats. That first heart beat is like nothing else in life, until you see them for the first time, and hold them, and teach them to ride a bike, or shoot a bow. Its incredible. You are going to love it.

I thought those cameras in Star Valley were inoperative. Not the case?

Well after doing m homework I really struggled with whether to buy Chinese or USA. Most of American safes were double the $ but I just couldn't pull the trigger on something imported. Today I was able to find a Liberty 23 with a scratch that was $250 more than the bighorn I was looking at. For $250 more I feel like I got a better quality safe and kept my money stateside.

I am currently shopping for a gun safe and wa interested in any recommendations other members might have. My criteria right now are as follows: >20 cuft >20 gun capacity 1 Hour / 1200 deg. Rating >500 lbs Non-Electronic lock I am especially curious about the last one. How does an electronic keypad hold up in a fire? My guess is not so hot, so then how do you get the thing open? Also, are the electronic keypads reliable, anybody had one for more than 20 yrs? If anybody else has any recommendations I would love to hear them. Here is my current #1 contender . . .

How many animals have you harvested in Arizona
Flatlander replied to Seldom Drawn's topic in The Campfire
Well this is a nice thread. Good to know a little more about you guys. In AZ: 3 Muley 3 Coues 2 Cow Elk 2 Bull Elk 1 Antelope 1 Pig (I could definitely give Heat a run for his money as the worlds worst pig hunter) 1 Bear and a Coati that was the toughest one of all to get. -
Good truck, nice price. Won't last.

I am sure glad somebody doesn't publish every mistake I make at work in the newspaper. I would need my own section. -
The taxidermist called and told the rug from my 2012 bear is ready. I can't wait to get this thing on the wall of the man cave.

Not true. The 10% cap for Non-res is a CAP, not a set aside. That means that AT LEAST 9 of the bonus tags will go to residents, but every single one of the 18 tags could go to a resident if there were not any non-residents with more points. Or, if there were non-residents with the same amount of points, it would just be a matter of who had the better randomly assigned bonus pass draw number. There is no advantage to being a non-resident. I wish I had the draw report that actually showed each unit broke down by residents and non-residents. I would bet that rifle antelope, every early bull tag most archery bull tags and every deer tag north of the big ditch all make it to the 10% cap in fact except for the archery bull I would bet that most of those tags reach the 10% cap in the 20% pass. To my knowledge there is no such report.

Oh no . . . You made a liar out of me. No worries I wanted to believe.
