SPent a day during the archery bull hunt with a guy who had this. It was pretty amazing.

Who's still looking to harvest their Bull in 22!

Oh dude that sucks. I have been hoping to hear good news from you. That unit is thick and nasty especially in the south half. Good luck, if you go back this weekend you should be able to find crows . . . -
You guys killed some sweet bulls. Nice work.

Will are you hunting with Speedygoss? -
They didn't take the rifle hunt away, it rotates between 1 and 27.

The impact on rifle hunts would be minimal. I would prefer this without adding more tags, its basically what they do with the archery antelope hunt in 19A.

You know who we have to thank for this; Doyle Moss, John McLendon and Duck Dynasty. They have all exploited the wildlife our nature has to offer and turned our sport into a glorified brothel in the forest. Once these guys started making mega $ off of posting pictures and videos of giant deer and elk, the whole game changed. Hunting has become largely about how to make $ off of the sport and less about spending time with family and friends, and going "off the grid" for awhile. With the commercialization of hunting, there is now a digital wireless trail camera on every tree in northern Arizona, I can't even drop a #2 in the woods without having to worry about having a picture of my backside posted on some thread titled "Tool Bag Who Ruined my Spot". And if AZGFD would manage the deer herds in the rest of the state nobody would feel compelled to go shoot a tame park deer over a bucket of ice cream. I mean seriously, would it kill the department to issue less than 800 permits in unit 7? If they weren't so busy furnishing their entire department with new trucks and settling poaching disputes with their own officers maybe they could make the budget work. Would it kill them to host a mule deer habitat improvement project once a year? And I will really tell you caused this, it was that dang Sasquatch!

Haha. You should hunt general season Montana or Colorado sometime!!! You'll be happy to just hear an elk. Try Idaho. Worst, Rut. Ever.

Sweet buck, and Kudos to your daughter for making good on the commitments she had made with her employer. Sounds like you raised her right.

Oh dear.

Awesome bull. I have a thing for big 5 points.

Go checkout the ag lands around Red Rock. Lots of pigs there, its just tough to find a hill to glass from. There are a few out there and I would imagine they would be cash $

Why were you taking pictures of my nap on the beach . . . kind of stalker-ish if you ask me.
-
Great deal. Bump.

How could this yay-hoo not know this deer was tame??? Hasn't he ever been to hunter's ed? I can still remember from the class I took when I was 12, Phil Smith taught us the ice cream cone test. So now part of every stalk I make is offering the deer a double scoop sugar cone (mint chocolate chip works best), if the deer accepts, you have to let it walk. But if it hesitates, well an arrow is in the air. What kind of slob doesn't even offer ice cream to the poor buck before letting the air out of him??? Heck, this test even worked on HornHunters cousin, that's the only reason some other character is married to her. I guess he never took hunters ed either. Just one more reason bowhunter education should be mandatory. Did we make page 11 yet? What's the record anyway?

Trying to avoid the crowds in 31

Yeah, Joe I appreciate you being willing to help another member out, but this type of specific info is probably better given via PM. There was a time, back when you had to go inside the prison office and get the key to the gate, then drive right past the yard that this area had no pressure. When I had the tag in 2010, there were like 6 trucks up there opening morning. -
Spent this morning hunting doves with my boys here in town. They love dove season and talk about it all year. I knocked down a bird on my first shot and shot a pretty good pace all morning. Ended up killing my limit in about 2 hours. My boys picked up birds but wouldn't put them down they played with them all the way back to the house and even took them inside and showed mom then threw them on the kitchen table, made mom real happy. I was pleased that they were happy to help clean them and are excited to eat their doves for dinner. Dove hunts were some of my first hunting experiences and I am happy to be able to share it with my boys now. To make this year extra special I hunted with my cousin's shotgun, he passed away in 2009 and his folks asked me to take it and make sure it got some use. I think he would have been happy with my work today.

If you are feeling manly go checkout leonard canyon. Should be plenty of elk in there come November.
-
Soaked mine in A1 and Teriyaki sauce immediately after filleting. Then I made rice and added soy and teriyaki. Tasted good. The boys loved eating the birds we had killed that day.
-
Sorry I didn't mean to sound discouraging. I suggest the North side of the unit. There is far lees pressure and a lot more areas to access.
-
Did you head up that road we discussed?

Take a flack jacket.

thats what im talking about dude, some serious caveman hunting. heres jared allen spearing an elk. id want to sneak up on one though. I am pretty sure that buffalo wasn't even hurt by the spear. It looked like it hit him sideways. The gash in the elk was pretty gnarly though.

12 birds on 43 shells yesterday AM. Took about 2 hours. I never have been worth a hoot with the scatter gun.
