Sitting here at the airport . . .
Flatlander replied to Flatlander's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
I am not, although I am in construction and do solar projects. Trying as hard as possible not to work at all this weekend though. Saw a wild (feral) Parrot today. That was my goal for the weekend, see a parrot, guess we can go home now . . . -
I fear for these animals safety after the year you had in 2012. Got a feeling the days are numbered for a few of them. Good luck!

Haven't heard from Lark in quite some time. I guess Quimby is probably our resident Grandpa around here, TJ is on deck
-
Hands down, this is the best site around. Thanks for keeping it going Amanda.
-
Confirmed, different deer. Sweet pics JLW wish I had those others hanging around my spot.
-
Hope some of this moisture got over Yarnell way. God knows those firefighters could use it.

Bikers should be in no short supply in that part of the state. Don't the angels have a couple of clubhouses within a hundred miles of there? Regardless; hunters, rednecks, hippies, thumb sucking momma's boys, men, women, children and dogs should all be present to block this scum.

Had a similar scenario last year, turned out it wasn't the card I put in with. Big overreaction on my part.
-
Here are a few pics of my buck from last year. Looks like it could be the same as JLW's. We should talk off-line.

Mann Gulch, Dude, Storm King and now Yarnell
Flatlander replied to biglakejake's topic in The Campfire
I think this could be the worst ever in US history. Mann Gulch was like 13 or 14, Dude was less than 10. This is a tragedy of epic proportions. God bless the families and those who are still out fighting. -
This sounds horrible. Still can't get any details.

Here it is straightened out. Dustin does great work. I just posted some pics of my whitetail that was hanging in his shop over on the Coues forum.

Gutless, bone out is the only way to go. However the biggest thing with bears is the hide and head, they are heavy, especially if you shoot one who is soaking in a pool. And Kidso is right, those big steep canyons get even bigger and steeper with a 90 lb pack on a 90 degree day.
-
Thanks. We call it coues corner.

Looked like you or someone else was having some trouble on the hill out of Rye on Friday night, I tried to get on the breaks to pull over but there just wasn't enough time and it looked like you had plenty of help. Hope everything worked out for you.
-
I drive it everyday too but I am usually in my rice burner, cheaper on gas. Same here, 99 Accord gets me to Paradise Valley and back every day. I am headed up to SF next week and taking a tour of the 'Stick before they tear it down. Guess you can go right out on the field, I am pretty excited about that.

Yeah that mount definitely was the focal point for sure. Did you build the pedestal yourself? Awesome bucks and an awesome mount.
-
I have that same color scheme truck and I am a 49ers fan, but I go stickerless these days (didn't want my road rage reflecting poorly on the site) I drive that route every day, funny I have never seen you.

best time to hunt coues in unit 27
Flatlander replied to 1jody256's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
The best time to hunt 27 is the best time to hunt any coues deer unit, whenever your wife lets you. -
I have heard bulls squeal and "bugle" year round when in big herds. Its their way of communicating with the other elk just like a cow mews. The biggest herd of elk I have ever seen in AZ was in 22N during June 1998. There were hundreds of elk and the cow calls and squeals were so loud you almost couldn't hear another person talk. As far as the bull being hard horned, could it be an old bull that isn't producing enough testosterone to cause him to shed? Never heard of an elk with "Low T", but hey it could happen.

I can't find anything on inciweb. Hopefully it stays small.
