    Got a new Hoyt but..

Bear mountain sucks and their archery department is the worst part of it. I shopped their my entire life until 2011. I went in looking to test drive some new bows, the guy in the archery department acted like I was an idiot and belittled my bro in law who was with me. I never stepped foot back in the shop. I should have expected as much from a place that can't even keep their inventory organized and shop clean. Call Hoyt direct, they will take care of you.

    Bun in the oven

Thanks for all the advice and positive comments guys. I was never intimidated by the thought of raising boys, but since we found out all I can think about is all the hormones, and the tea parties, and the boys, and the dances, and someday some guy wanting to marry her. I want to go back and apologize to the father of every girl I ever picked up for a date and apologize for being so cavalier with their little girl. The thought of all this completely blows my mind. I can't wrap my head around it.

    Anybody start their hunting beard?

Not only does my wife hate how I look bald faced, but so do I. I work in an office and wear slacks everyday except Friday and bid days. When I hired on no one else had a beard. I had shaved mine for the job interview and after a few months my new colleagues noticed that I had a beard in all my family and personal pictures. They encouraged me to grow it back and it has stayed there ever since except for a week each July while I regrow. Now about 25% of my coworkers rock a beard year round.

    multi-purpose backpack/bivy hunting items

I would definitely not hunt minus undies and socks no matter how much weight it saved. I have tried and it did not end well . . .

First Time Coues Hunter - Help

Thanks for the tip, I would be pretty upset if I drove all the way down there and spent my day looking for a way in. So, excuse my ignorance, but how do you contact the wildlife manager down there? Do I just call the G&F department and ask? Yup.
  7. I have some friends in Joe City and Holbrook. His name on here is Badlands Custom Taxidermy. Give him a shout.

    Wolf Hunting in Idaho?

There are plenty of wolves, and the residents of ID are not emotionally attached to them hence the liberal bag limits. They are pretty nomadic and can be tough to figure out. I saw three in the three years I spent there. If you can find a place where elk are on winter ground you will find wolves. What part of the state are you headed to?

First Time Coues Hunter - Help

There are some access issues in that unit. G&F has a map that shows which gates are locked and which are accessible, might be a good idea to contact the wildlife manager down there and find out how to get your hands on one. It could save you a lot of frustration.
  11. Nice meeting you Kevin. The man cave thanks you for your contribution.

    Skull Hooker

Studs are 3-1/2" plus a 1/2" of drywall so a 3" lag will give you about all you can get.

    AZ unit 31 advice

Only if there are leftovers. Ad there is no pig hunt that runs concurrent with the deer hunt, fyi. Many other states have more liberal seasons than ours for pigs. Lots of people like hunting them so the hunts are structured just like anything else.

    KAIBAB Unit 12 Bucks!

SD - Just let the guy be. If he wanted to post the scores he would have done so. And I for one am grateful that people have started taking pictures of the animals, and not the hunters. I don't look at these forums to look at pictures of sunburned dudes with 4 day beards and women with no makeup. I want to see the critters, so I am glad that the hunter is in the background and not the subject. And its refreshing to see some pics in different poses and positions that show the animals better. Keep posting the pics Lance, you guys are doing some things right up there.

    Ever mess up someone's hunt?

I have had the same guy ruin probably a dozen of my hunts. Sneezing in the middle of stalks, getting the wind wrong, walking loud, missing shots. If anybody sees a 30 yr old fat dude in a white F150 give him a piece of my mind . . . he looks just like the dude in my avatar.

    Help 24B coues

Be ware that the more well known trails in the wilderness do attract some attention. Horse guys usually pack into reavis ranch and camp. I have had success using the trails to get into the country and then going cross country somewhere on the interior.

  19. Gilbert High used to offer a meat processing service as well, but you pretty much had to know Mr. B to get it in there cause they booked up quick.

Score a Whitetail in South Scottsdale?

Are you looking for an official measurer, or just someone to put a tape on it and do the math?
  21. Please tell me you killed that buck, with that bow, and not a single ounce of camo?! Love it.

    Vintage Remington 721

Got your post crossed up with the one above. maybe I will shoot my carp deer with it this year. I shot my first two elk with it when I was a kid, which was cool cause grandpa bought it right after the war for elk hunting. He never shot an elk with it so I was happy to fulfill its purpose. Maybe shooting another mule deer like all the ones he killed in ID would be fitting. 4Falls - Thanks for posting this, it got my mind thinking.

    Vintage Remington 721

Casey - Who re-barreled yours? My first rifle is a 721 in .270 that my Grandfather handed down to me. He passed away last year and I have been thinking I need to do something with it to memorialize him this season.
