Sweet hunting rig. Won't last long at that price. I wish I had a reason to snatch it up. -

When dealing with residency you must be a resident at the time you apply for the tag, so his uncle would have to wait until he met the requirements before purchasing a permit. Last year there were over 100 leftover tags in that unit, but I do not know exactly when they sold out. They post an updated list of leftovers regularly during the first come first serve period, so you can just keep an eye on it and if it gets close to selling out just go down and grab a tag. -
True, but I didn't learn to drive in a Model T either

My buddy has an archery shop in Holbrook and deals Bowtech and Matthews. He is 6'2" so not particularly small, that is his bow of choice from either manufacturer.

This looks like a blast. Is anybody on here participating? -
Unless he drew his 3rd, 4th or 5th choice hunt. Correct. Perhaps that is what happened I guess he didn't clarify.
-
I always put a leftover hunt as my 3rd choice. I pretty much have resolved myself to hunting coues in october every year. Its a good resolution to have. I love it.

Possible data entry error ? I have heard of this a few times, and the only explanation I can come up with is a data entry error. In this case no harm, no foul since you could just pick up a leftover if you still wanted the hunt. However in other scenarios I could see where you may have a case in protesting to AZGFD and getting them to give you a tag.

One point.

Scum bag. Don't care where he is from or who he played for.

Good info Marvin. These are the complexities of the sheep draw that are often overlooked, and unfortunately many applications are dead in the water before the 1-2 pass even hits. I came up with 6 hunts last year that capped out in the bonus pass. When it comes to sheep you have to take every advantage you can.
-
Here is how bonus points work for a group app: The total bonus points for each applicant is added up and the total is divided by the number of applicants. Therefore if one applicant has 1 bonus point from hunter's ed, and no other bonus points and the other has 0 bonus points then the total bonus points for the application is 1, and that is divided by the number of applicants, in this case two. There fore 1/2 = .5, which is rounded up to 1. So effectively each applicant has 1 bonus point.

That's encouraging! Maybe one day it will happen! Yes, maybe one day in the next 30-40 years you may reach the max point pool. In the meantime, keep applying every year, you can't afford to take years off when it comes to the sheep game.

How did I miss this the first time around. Stud buck.

Is that a wolf? Sweet pics.

Dude sweet bull. Congrats.

Maverick - Whats your real name? When I come in I will ask for you.
-
Sweet cat. Looks like fun.

No that's not true at all. There is a youth antlerless hunt on the kaibab every year. But other than that, you are right on. We have way fewer deer than we have people who want to kill them. We can't afford to lose our breeding does.

Lifetime license question for you guys.
Flatlander replied to RoughCut's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
If you are thinking about moving out of state, this is a no brainer, must-do, can't miss action. I didn't do it when I left for college, and I ended up being gone for 5 hunting seasons. I can't tell you how badly I miss those bonus points (I couldn't swing the NR fees in college, and it was before the online app only fee). Today if you are moving out of state and want to accumulate BP's all you have to do is pay the $7.50. Definitely a good move. Heck if I was a NR and circumstances would allow it I would find a way to move to AZ, establish residency, buy the lifetime license and then leave. It only takes like 6 mos to establish residency, and if it means you could have a shot at the strip, or pull an early archery tag every 4 or 5 years, it just might be worth it. -

The correct answer is you pay non-res. prices for tag but you remain in resident pool, so the 10% cap will not apply to you Agreed. -
I am short the caribou, but have the others plus an antelope sheath to boot. No eastern whitetail, but I guess I should have looked more while in ID. I have never felt like a shed hunter, in fact I have always felt quite incompetent at it, but when I think back through the years I guess even this blind squirrel found a few nuts.

With 20 pts, you can get a 3% chance at a desert bighorn tag if you pick the right unit. If you pick the wrong unit, you literally have no chance because all the tags will go in the bonus (max point) pass. Sad, but true. For Rocky the best option is that Southern Blue tag and you would have about a 1.5% chance at it. TJ if you want some help with figuring out which units to apply for shoot me a PM or text me. I am happy to help. Is that .81% or 81%? .81% as in <1% again sad, but true. Hate to say it but CA, NV, UT, CO, NM, AZ and MX all have hunt-able populations. I agree on putting Desert first, but only because I am trying to grab any tag I have a shot at.
-
The easiest to draw Rocky tag is the Lower Blue in 27 and last year you would have had .81% chance. As far as deserts go 15A & 15B are the best odds and last year 12 points got you just over a 2% shot at it. Looking at it that way put the Rocky first and then the desert. Good luck.
