Depends on which hunt you have. Those cowboy's always seem to do better on the late hunts, but be careful I heard her cook only makes hot dogs.

My brother drew the Jrs Only hunt in unit 1 the first time he put in with nothing but the Hunter Ed point. He put in for it this year with 3 points and according to flatlander, only had about 15% chances. I think it was 19%. But hey who is counting. Those jr cow tags aren't much easier to draw than the other rifle cow hunts, but their dates are more favorable. The neighbor kid drew one this year without a single point, lucky terd. I have never been to a mentored camp but I suppose I will head up there with him this year.

Which hunts did you guys end up applying for?

+1 Head to ID. Just don't expect an AZ type hunt.
-
Well I know a lot of guys posted in other threads but let's see how many of the guys from this one pulled tags.

Its hard to say. The wife applied for 2 early cow hunts with no points. I applied for early rifle and then early archery with 6 points. I figure that my odds were a combined 13% and hers were a combined 23%. Based on that I guess I would be saying that its one of her early cow hunts, but there is hope for me too. It seems like everyone I know drew tags this year so I wouldn't mind if I had to sit one more year before I got my early archery hunt.

And so the longest 2-1/2 months of the year begins.

Bond - Learn to do math and read draw reports, it will serve you well throughout your hunting career.

I am think best case would be Tuesday. More likely Friday or Monday. But I will do the happy dance if they do it sooner. I have a $114 charge on the CC.

Hey Kelly I just noticed you are in Ammon. My in-laws live there and I used to live in Rexburg and Pocatello. I am an ID native.

I have had a 99' Sportsman 335 since it was new. I put a bunch of miles on it every year and it has never failed to get me where I need to go. I have had whole elk on it, I had 2 fat hunters, gear and a full mule deer on it, and it just keeps plugging along. It does have a winch, but that's just an insurance policy, it doesn't get used much.

777 or Bond if you prefer, the ONLY problem with your opinion here is that nobody asked for it. An outfitter posted a picture of a client who killed an animal. He did not ask for your opinion about it. If you would like to discuss the topic of harvesting females then simply start a thread in the mt lion forum on the subject. There you can argue it all day long and nobody is going to call you uncouth. Your approach here is equivalent to referring to someone's first buck by calling it a dink and going on a tangent about point restrictions. You have a founded argument about the statistics you have posted here but its just not the time or place. In reference to your comment about saying things to piss people off, that is what we refer to as trolling, and its juvenile. These forums are here for us to discuss our passion for hunting, not for school yard pissing matches. The problem with being 22 is that its as close to 15 as it is to 29.

Allow me to clarify my comment. I was joking about Jim making a fake account to recommend himself. It was just ironic that he posted right after a member with just 4 posts. The joke was clearly not perceived in the spirit it was intended to and for that I have apologized to Jim, he and I are all square. My comment about the <10 post crowd was referring to some of the bashing that was going on. Several of the comments that I felt were distasteful had been posted by new members of CWT, AWH's comment was not among those. I see nothing wrong with creating an account to respond to someones request for information on a guide. You answered the question that the poster was asking. I did not find several of the other comments to be in good taste, specifically calling out guide's by name and defaming them. I would contend that this is not what I would consider typical of the posts that CWT regulars make. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but the question was, who is the best guide for unit 9. It was not "What negative and crude comments can you make about the following guides?" Glad to see some of the new folks on here, I hope we can maintain the level of character that has been held by the majority in the past.

If you are implying what I think you are, you are wrong, I have no clue who that new member is. My reputation and portfolio speaks for itself and I've worked very hard at building both over the last 12 years, I have no reason to play games or try to get votes on this thread. And for the record and because I keep getting texts or calls about it, we've killed 8 bulls over 400" and 4 of those bulls have been with regular season archery and rifle tags. Not saying that to brag, just to set the record straight. Jim I was kidding and meant no disrespect. I hold you in the highest regard and we know you would never do that, I apologize if you feel your reputation was compromised, I would never do that intentionally.

Pretty sure all of the junior cow tags are guaranteed draws with four points as long as you list them as a first or second choice. I know that's true for 6a, 3c, and 1. The only exception might be 22 or 23, but I'm fairly certain hey are guaranteed too. You are correct.

I have no recommendations, I have no emotional attachment to any of the guys. But I thought it was interesting that right before Jim posted someone with a brand new account recommended him (only kidding, we all know he wouldn't do that) Interesting to see the difference in posts from long time CWT guys and the <10 post crowd. Glad to see the regulars maintaining the standard. Stay classy San Diego!

No kidding. Don I guess you didn't know that if you draw an early muzzy tag with 6 points then you are never allowed another elk tag.

Glad to see you finally put him on the ground. How healed up was the arrow wound?

Gould's Hunt Giveaway and Free Spring Turkey Seminar
Flatlander replied to Jay Scott's topic in Turkeys!
That lucky bugger just drew his 39th elk tag in a row and won a Gould's hunt? Dude must be living right. -
I drew a limited opp cow hunt on my 3rd choice in 2001.

So i just found out that my wife and I's apps were both filled out with the same card. I thought I had used different cards but apparently I was wrong. Now I have to sit and wait for results to know if its her cow tag or my archery bull tag. The waiting never ends!

Mine is showing 114 on the nuts

Congrats Jeff! No doubt you will kill some studs.
