Sometimes I just hit them with rocks. Last year I whacked one with a rock but didn't kill it and it went down a hole. When I reached for a stick to get him with there was a second one under the branch I had lifted up. Once that one started buzzing and getting severely agitated I decided it might be be best to just get out of dodge. Those suckers get irritated in a hurry. Especially when you hot them with a rock. I have since decided a trecking pole is perfect for dealing with them.

I have eaten it. We just peeled the skin back, pushed the guts out like a fish and threw the whole thing on the grill. It tasted fine, but its kind of a lot of work for not much of a meal.

When living in ID I bow hunted in grizzly country and carried an XD45. To be honest, now I don't carry anything, I have had 2 close calls with bears, both in 7E and in both situations, we both wanted to just get away from each other, Even in ID, I just never had a big problem. For whatever reason, lions don't concern me all that much, I really don't think one would ever consider me @ 200 lbs as a menu item and anyone who has hiked with me will tell you that the chances of me surprising one are about as good as the odds of me getting struck by lightening and winning the lottery on the same day.

I wacked a Black Rattler yesterday morning, I skinned it and stretched out the hide when I got home. Those buggers are aggressive and this one was warm enough to have a real temper. In my experience if you are walking in the bottom of a canyon, you better be dang careful where you step particularly around pools of water.

Anybody got any pics of cool snake taxi? I just killed a black rattler and am looking for some ideas on what to do with the hide once it is done tanning.

The wasatch is awesome. I used to camp up there when I lived in West Jordan. Congrats again.

Congratulations! What LE did you draw?

Avg Joe - I need to get a BP there this year. When is the application period?

Where was this one at? I saw the one in Upper Sycamore yesterday, looked to be moving fairly quickly. This year is going to be scary.

I had that hunt in 2001. What a blast. I was fresh out of high school and didn't have a care in the world other than finding a goat to let the air out of. Good luck and definitely give us some updates.

This thread is starting to make me think that we need to have a CWT Wyoming Antelope trip.

There are no deer in unit 37B.

TH - 16 points should pretty much give you the pick of archery tags. It looks like you may be within 1-2 years of a muzzy hunt and 3-4 of rifle tags. This does not account for point creep and remember you always have a chance outside of the bonus pool. I have 9 points and kind of have to decide if I am going to stick it out for a rifle tag or go ahead and cash out with an archery tag in the next few years. Hmmm.

Those are great bulls Jeff. Congrats.

I would suggest checking out the Z9, I have a 'large man' buddy who loves his. I have a CRX32 and it is as close to silent as you can get. The CRX35 or the Vector 35 would be good choices (BH on the CRX is longer than the Vector).

Bwhntr - Let us know how it goes. I will be interested to hear how the arrangement works out and if they harvest as many elk as the FS wants them to. You guys should have a blast with that many folks in camp. Good luck. Bellota - Do you guys have any tags this year?

Well AHQ never said whether they got an elite in or not, so I ended up buying the CRX 32. I know it isn't 330 IBO but 323 is awfully close. I think with my draw and a 400 grain arrow I will be looking at about 280 fps. Have not had the chance to shoot it yet, but looking forward to shooting a few arrows every night this summer. Its been 10 years since I bought my last bow. I am stoked to get this thing out. -
So who ended up drawing one of these tags? I will be really interested to hear how these ones go.

Did you find a place? If not I am sure we could do more to help you out.

I now have a strong desire to go grab a snake and freeze it, just so I can watch it thaw. I am male, I do not drink and am ink free. But I get what you are saying.
-
I have always just heard of guys catching them live and either drowning or freezing them to avoid damaging it.
-
I don't know, haven't really thought about selling them until now. Make me an offer.

Ok so here is a question for you all what would I be better off with.......My vortex viper 15x50 non hd or docter 15x60's? Hard to say. Have you ever looked threw a pair of Doc's? If you would like to and will be in the Valley sometime, I would be happy to let you take a gander. I am a little embarassed to admit, but I don't really know how to post pics, give me a day or two as I need to go get them out, take the pics and then figure out how to post them.

I would not recommend rolling the dice on warranty work. However I think they are a good 15. Yes they are heavy. I have a pair, what would you be willing to pay?

Anybody want to trade a pack for an elk tag??? Just kidding, this is a great consolation prize, I am excited to try this out on some coues shed hunting trips. Thanks to Santana outdoors for putting on the contest.
