Wyoming Archery Antelope Semi Live Hunt

I haven’t yet but I am leaning toward the Wac Em XL. Any body have good experiences with anything they have used on elk in the past?

Unfortunately it appears that way. Interestingly enough one of the translocations they discussed on the webcast was taking goats off of Glassford Hill in 19A to be placed in the SE part of the state around Bonita. I can remember hunting lope on Glassford when I was 18. It was fun because they got up into the canyons behind the houses and it was almost like hunting whitetails. Unfortunately some lady turned her kid and dogs out to run off the buck I was stalking, he passed by within 15 yds of me but was at a full run when he did.

https://www.azgfd.com/azgfd-to-host-webcast-on-hunt-management-approaches-aug-15/ Anyone going to be able to catch this webcast tonight? I would love to submit some questions but it’s my kids birthday so I probably won’t be able to sit down for it until later.

Where is her house?

Man, you guys must have time on your hands. I almost always cool in mass ahead of time and heat up the same batch of something every night before I rack out. Especially on early hunts, I can’t get in bed fast enough.

Here are my notes after watching online: - Online black bear and my lion reporting is now available. https://www.azgfd.com/Hunting/Questionnaires/ Also here is a link to online harvest quotas and objectives. https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/azgfd-portal-wordpress-pantheon/wp-content/uploads/archive/BB-HARVEST-TRACKING-20190815.pdf They talked about changing a metric for, I believe, alternative management elk units from points per side of harvested bulls to an age based goal. There was an update on the Mt lion changes, basically showing that overall harvest hasn’t changed much since the changes made last year. Sounds like they did or will move quail opener back two weeks. I don’t hunt them so I didn’t pay much attention. Update on translocated antelope, quail, javelina and bighorn sheep. I had forgotten about the Rocky’s they dropped in Leonard canyon, looks like two operations totaling about 50 animals. Nothing earth shattering but a very good refresher on goals and objectives. Other than antelope our critters are doing pretty good and we don’t have the crazy swings other western states seem to have. Antelope in this state have big problems almost completely resultant from habitat fragmentation, which wasn’t really discussed.

Save up some pennies and go to Mexico.

Lots of private ground but it’s mostly small farms with mixed in state lease ground. It will just be a matter of finding a bull in the right spot. The kid from the archery shop said that the farmers are pretty good about letting hunters in for moose. So far I haven’t had any luck with the ones I have called, could be my 480 area code. I love the paddles on the bull he checked in last year. I think the bull he sent yesterday is old and obviously very big. I don’t care one bit about score, I don’t even know what book is on moose. I want big paddles and some of those dangly things under his chin.

I also called the local archery shop yesterday. They reminded me that mechanical broadheads are not allowed in ID and I am glad they did because now I have to resight and tune (not to mention by a fixed blade bh). The kid I talked to has hunted the unit 5x with others, he said every shot has been under 100 yds so archery is very do-able. He also said that even with archery bulls tend to die fast, pack outs are brutal and that the width on those five bulls were all between 41-48”. Six weeks out.

I keep getting pics from my buddy who is a game warden. Apparently not many locals have the tag this year so some of his friends keep sending him pics to share with me. It’s getting hard to focus at work with these coming in. Some more Teton River bulls from last year. A bull he checked in from my unit last year. He saw this bull the other day. Bonus points for being close to the road. And this one came from one of his buddies while I was brushing my teeth. Now I have to clean the bathroom mirror.

That bull is in the Teton River which is North of my unit. The South Fork is south of my unit.

OE4A is a good one for kids and vets. Here is Eddy Corona’s number. +1 (480) 529-8340

Hey @Edge do you still have a number for nature girl? Maybe you could invite her.

Probably called his wife fat and his bulls dinky. You know, real tough guy stuff.

Been raining everyday that I have been up north.

Uhoh, thats not what we were hoping to hear. But . . . wait to see what happens as the monsoons die down and the rut kicks in. I dont have any experience with unit 10, but I do know on my previous hunts elsewhere that bucks showed up where there had previously been nothing.

We’ve been blessed, but we also do a lot of research and play the numbers. I am fortunate to have a lifetime license in ID this getting me resident odds on two states. Combined with my son Hunter’s eligibility for donated tags, we usually have something to look forward to. We are grateful for every opportunity and love sharing them with everyone. I still wish I had luck like Rossislider though 😀

Here is a high country bull a local shared with me from last September: And another the local warden sent me from last week.

Going through the truck buying process now after having the same F-150 for 8+ years. Man trucks have come a long ways in that time. I tow a travel trailer and don’t have a side by side so I use my truck on two trackers a lot. But 5 days a week my truck makes the 25 mile journey over the 60 around the broadway curve and up the 51 for work. So for me it kind of has to do it all. With all those things in mind I am looking for an F-150 with the 3.5L, 10 speed transmission and max tow package. Which makes me curious, if you were buying a new 1/2 ton what would you buy and why?

Good grief, what the heck happened in here?
