Spent the last two days up here in God’s Country enjoying cool weather, long day’s and some beautiful scenery. Got to re-familiarize myself with the roads, talked to the game warden and a couple of landowners. Man’s of course it wouldn’t be a trip without some kind of hassle. Took a rock between the treads on the weak sauce factory tires the rental truck had. I was very disappointed to find that the jack provided by dodge was barely tall enough to raise the truck on perfectly level ground, which this wasn’t. So I spent an hour or so digging a hole with a stick to allow us to put on the spare, which was full-size, but not regular matching tire. It was marked limited-use and was about as thick as a water balloon. I was really worried we Would cut that one trying to get out. Luckily we made it back to the highway, but we did have to cut our scouting a half day short.

That hunt is not even close to draw-able as a third choice. Probably takes 5-6 pts to hit the bonus pass on the bull hunts. The elk will be high. The bugling will probably be spotty, but there are elk there. You will Have to earn it.

Dude your backyard is like 20 yds. What were you doing? Also, Junior is great. He’s helped me plenty as well.

There are coues deer in just about every part of 22 except the lowest elevations of the desert floor. Go ahead and climb a hill, put your bino’s on a tripod facing south and stick with it till you find one.

It’s 90% done. At this point you’re only hope is that you have a card that is slow to report charges or that someone else who applied for your hunt has a card that gets declined. They will charge some cards next week for people who were next I line behind someone whose card was declined. A few days of that and then it’s over. Results should be posted by the end of the week.

Man what a year for you!

Now that everyone’s apps are in, what is everyone hoping for in their draw “stocking”? For us it was a bunch of different things, but we have a pretty full fall already so we swung for the fences on most apps: 3a3c rifle on a couple apps 20a as a second choice for a few, never been there, be fun to hunt something new. Mom and grandma put in for late Kaibab tags, which would probably be signed over to one of my kids. The hunts I am probably most hopeful for is my two boys who put in for the Kaibab youth hunt. Last year it was tons of fun. Their second choice is a youth desert mule deer hunt and then coues rags for choices 3-5. We had 5 apps for sheep and it pretty much covered the map: 9/10 late hunt, 27/28 rocky, 37B. Good luck everybody!

Dude do some research. AZGFD did not introduce these birds. They don’t get to pick and choose what animals get to live on the landscape and which ones go extinct. We have the feds for that. And they did not ban hunting coyotes. They banned idiots from having a big contest where people get prizes for stacking up piles of dead animals and taking pictures and the. putting it on social media. Get your facts straight. Who cares about lead, switch to non-lead, no big deal and the anti’s don’t have any argument.

Dude I still remember that pic. You put a guess the location thread on here and then sent me a $10 sportsman’s card for getting it first. I am glad they saved it. And in a year, the rest of that area will be coues heaven and actually glassable.

They have to save something. But the sheep habitat there is screwed. Looks like just about everywhere I have seen them is moonscaped.

Yeah, the habitat will come back better than ever. But the cliff dwellings and the orchard could be gone forever.
