Who said their kids were disadvantaged? What I said was I wanted them to go hunting. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

I’ll take it. Text sent.

If I pay full price will you give me the coord’s to the bear spot?

I remember this now. You hate the claw for the same reason right? Is it just anything that helps kids kill stuff? Just kidding I know that’s not the case. But I think the scenario you just described is less common than the other end of the spectrum where parents and grandparents are giving kids a chance at drawing any elk tag in their first few years of applying. Telling a kid to wait until he is 15 to hunt cows is not good for recruitment. This year my kids have 5 total apps in. Mine, my wife’s their grandma’s and their own. Of that if we draw a tag for each of them, we’d be pretty lucky. Almost all of our apps are for cow tags, except my son who has a condition that allows him to receive donated tags. For us, it’s about getting kids out there. If someone is forking our cash to apply a couple extra grandparents every year, big deal, it’s not killing the odds.

I like the design on the back. Now I can look at my wife’s rack and butt at the same time. 😂

Did you shoot it in the butt?

Can you elaborate on that?

Well, anybody that wants to hunt bulls better care about cow numbers.

I would really challenge the assertion that Vortex Kaibab are clearer than Docter Nobilems. I own Docter’s and Swaro’s and honestly question whether there is $2k in difference in them.

I don’t know but I sure was happy to pick up a nearly brand new pair at a really nice price last year. For coues hunting I still think 15’s are the gold standard. But it’s even better if you have a buddy with a spotter. That’s the best combo in my mind.

You guys can all argue about the armpit, but we all know that if AZ was getting an enema they’d be shoving it right up the Old Pueblo. Probably real close to Speedway and Campbell.

6 kids?!?! Did he check with one of them, my kids are always taking my stuff. Just kidding, this sucks and I hate reading this crap.

Get out of here with your common sense rationale

We used to slaughter cows on the archery hunts. Most of the guys griping about how many tags are issued now have no idea how many cows we were killing in the 90’s and 00’s. The Dept made a conscious decision to increase opportunity by shifting tags to bull hunts while simultaneously increasing herd numbers by reducing cow harvest. The results are exactly what Wildwoody described. More elk, fewer older age class bulls. Same $ in Dept budget. I would say this was the fundamental shift that moved AZ away from the trophy Mecca it once was and into a more balanced state. Still WAY better than most, but not what it was. I don’t hate it, but man what I wouldn’t give for a 2000 3C archery bull tag.

Please post a pic of the archery cow hunts.

I can't find it now but there is a video of him at Poston Butte teaching his players about motivation and effort where he asks a kid for his best effort in a speed drill and then after he does it once he then offers him cash to beat his previous "best effort". That's the kind of teaching he was brilliant at. Making kids challenge themselves, learn how to give more, how to be more. My BIL told me a story of getting blown up on the sideline after fielding a dangerous punt and taking it to the house, Coach Moro told him it was dangerous and selfish. In their family he is a legend. I wish my kids would have had the chance to play for him. -
I chased a giant buck at the base of Glassford hill back in the 19A glory days. Parked at the high school, jumped the fence and crawled through the grass playing cat and mouse for hours. Another day we were on the south end of Glassford chasing lope in the canyons like they were whitetails. Some homeowner saw me putting a sneak on and turned her dogs and two kids out to chase the goats off. That was back when there were over 100 tags for each archery hunt and you could draw it ever 3-4 yrs. It’s a dang shame to watch that herd fragment and dissolve.
