Looking forward to hunting from a row boat in 4B with my daughter!

Got it done before the storm came in today. Found a rut fest mid morning and the action was hot. Daughter got it done with 1 shot from 25 SST at 360 yds. Hunter was there helping, it’s hard to believe he’s nearly grown. Seems like yesterday he was following me around these same hills begging for snacks.

This one got me a feeling a little sentimental.

Always a chance.  My daughter drew unit 5b when she just turned 10 and only had her HS point.  Only 5 tags issued and she was tag#1.  I admit that was Crazy luck

Don’t they issue like 20 tags for that hunt now?

You think they’re gonna do that this year? Was the rut getting better as your hunt went on?

Yeah, probably. We were seeing new bulls everyday. The big bulls’ harems were growing as well.

Stupid cows kept changing the program and saving that suckers life. Oh well. Out of time.

Anyone know what pairs well with tag soup?

Doesn’t answer my question. Why do the guys out there now, think it will be better in a week. Is it trending up or is wishful thinking

I’ve had some experience on hunts where bulls were rutting harder in mid October than late September.

It will go down in history that the rut of 2025 was the worst many have ever seen. Hopefully not a trend.

I don’t know if it is a terrible rut or if it is just a late rut. Time will tell. It could still get really good for the rifle / muzzy / youth hunts.

I am hoping my daughters cow hunt is epic!

Zamberlan Thunder Pro GTX is a decent compromise between weight and support. I like mine so far, only a couple months into them.

After 9 days chasing elk in tons of different terrain and weather, gotta say, there are my favorite boots ever. Good support, light, water proof, and super comfortable. Just have to be careful with vibrancy soles on wet rocks.

  7. I’m sure glad all of these resources funded by license and tag sales are being used to keep trail cameras out of the woods. Seems like a prudent use of our conservation dollars. Thank goodness our wise commission created this rule so we could commit all of this effort to preventing anyone from taking a picture of a deer. I can definitely see how this makes an huge impact on wildlife conservation.
