You were pretty fair. I’d of sent her up the hill to get set while I tried to run them off the road 😂
And, to be honest, what most hunters would have done is made a stink about it and got on social media to complain about road hunters ruining everything.
No animal is worth a bunch of drama. Hunting is supposed to be fun or a way to separate from our day to day. Not something to be even more stressful and dramatic.

He broke the law, got caught, was convicted and then was on the azgfd agenda to lose his license for like four months straight and then it disappeared. You were the first one in this thread to claim what happened to him is BS and it's just government overreach. Children could understand this. No need for anyone to be law school educated to understand how the law works. I didn't start this thread and you have made just as much of an argument for what he did being ok as I have saying it isn't ok (along with 99% of everyone else on this thread)
You seem to feel threatened by his accomplishments. Nobody hates a poacher more than a less successful poacher.

Everyone can see what’s happening here. Seems you are the one blinded by your emotions for another man and you projecting that to others further demonstrates the point.
You might need a law school refresh if you can’t see the blatant bias’ in your argument.

Seems the essence of the conversation might be over your head.

My boys are doing fine. They have been raised to derive their self worth from their accomplishments and know better than to fall into the trap of tearing others down to extract personal validation.
13 hours ago, Coues247 said:Lol that's your response when shown the facts? Are you three years old? Don't justify breaking the law because you don't like the law. He was flying during an open hunt. Case closed. Be a better example for your boys.

It’s a dumb technical interpretation of the law used to specifically target a well known person.
It’s not good for anyone when government gets an ego.

For what?
I sure don’t have a love affair with the dude but the only charge I ever saw was for flying to scout for mule deer during an open OTC hunt for pretend elk on the strip. Those hunts are open like 9 months out of the year. Lion hunts are open the same for almost the whole state.
So are we saying that seeing wildlife while flying is always illegal in AZ?

It gets recorded and published which does matter to people who are looking for publicly available information.
My experience is that it is highly dependent on their mood. Bring in a smiling happy kid, score gets bumped up a little bit. Be late and bring a stinky decomposing head, expect them to round down.

The December rifle hunts for mule deer generally rotate through the region.
I think the 37B youth hunt is here to stay.

I usually like to hunt the junipers in that unit. Red Hill to Sunset Pass.

I have been to that bench. And not too far away I found a tiny javelina skull in the rocks.

A lot of trees in the back of trucks on the beeline on our way home from our late hunt.
Good luck, enjoy this beautiful weather!

Never thought to go up from the cheeks. I always start under the jaw and go down each side. This looks like it makes two easy flaps. A video specifically on peeling around the bases, especially on like elk might be good.

Certainly the first in the last 100 years or so, right?
-
I will be the dissenter here. I actually don’t think it’s that cool. To me the allure of a goat hunt is the experience of hunting them, where they live and all that goes with that.
Just finding one in the aspens / mule deer country and shooting it doesn’t seem like it would scratch that itch.
I don’t have anything against him killing it. It just isn’t the same as hunting and taking one in the mountains. And wouldn’t take the place of a true mt goat hunt for me.
That being said, it’s really cool to think about it being possible and the novelty of the idea. I’m glad someone was able to confirm their existence there. And seems like a decent coat on that goat, and it might even be a Billy.

That’s rad. Where can we find pics?
The flying thing is dumb because they have those year round pretend otc elk seasons so it’s just illegal to fly and look for wildlife. But the AZGFD is not the FAA. In my mind the whole thing is a gross overreach and not in line with the intent of the law.

Sure. Coyotes have an impact. But the bigger issues are habitat loss, fragmentation, checkerboard access and drought.

Another reduction in antelope tags. Tough times for AZ goats. Hard to believe what we have witnessed in the last 20 years.

Heck of a season. Congrats on a beautiful bull.
