Carbon fiber arrows are worth it in my opinion, stiffer seem to fly better. I prefer the Gene Davis tips they are so solid and hold like nothing else. I use slides but have adapted to using them with a swivel so there is no line twist.

I have had a number and all have their issues, there does not seem to be a perfect answer. I will try the Badlands next as well, at least it is closed and the binos seem easy to remove for use. I currently have the Kuiu one and it has little pockets on the side but it still seems to pull on my neck more than just the suspender type. There are a few others that look good but I would give the Badlands a go.

Anyone have any feedback or input on an FFL in the East Valley? Chandler, Tempe, Gilbert area would be best. I used Guns Etc but the cost was pretty steep and not as convenient as I had hoped. No bashing just looking for other options. Thanks for any help!

Time to burn some camo!

exercise to help strengthen muscles for drawing bow?
rcdinaz replied to Tac's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
I am not convinced just shooting your bow is the best advice. Find some way to work out and get shoulder and back work in so you work both sides. Being out of balance just causes problems down the road. Besides you will need mus-skulls on both sides to carry out all the critters you kill. Do some dead lifts, cleans, and rows not just a bunch of dumbbell exercises like jazzercise. That pack will be noticeably lighter the next time out. okay.. flame on! -
Let's plan an outing! We usually go at night and have yet to chase buffs so I would be all in for that as well. We have 6 bows (one is not tuned though), all are bowfishing bows. We usually do 3 shooters, 2 on the front deck and one in back. We have plenty of arrows, all the bows are set up to run spinning reels.

I was thinking the same thing! I am going to give it a couple more weeks but I gotta imagine the day shooting at Roosevelt will pick up fast.

Bull barrel improve barrel life? Or just accuracy
rcdinaz replied to apache12's topic in Long Range Shooting
I think you have a number of questions in there and there are probably some different opinions. Flyers come from all sorts of issues, for your topic cold barrels probably have more than hot ones to a point. Barrel life, maybe a little more because more heat cam be dealt with having more material in the bull barrel Accuracy, when the barrel gets hot with lots of range or prairie rat shooting the point of impact changes so for bullseye or rats having a narrow margin you can start missing your target as things heat up. So a sporter would give you fits. For coyotes and cats it is not much of an issue. Finding a load that has good accuracy and reasonable groups for 3 shot strings is probably most important. After that I would choose a sporter or sendero type barrel. You will get more shooting by staying in the field and covering ground. You are not going to like your heavy barrel rig much after a day of lugging it around. I lugged one around for a few years and decided it was really a dumb thing to be doing. I have not shot that heavy pig of a rifle in years now. Go to a varmint caller shoot and see how many guys are carrying sporter style rifle, an awful lot of plain rem 700's most just accurized by free floating the barrel, maybe a little trigger work, and a good shooting factory or hand load. If you are looking at an AR platform then there are others that can probably be of more help on here. A little different response maybe on an AR. -
Hunting stereotypes- Best thing I've seen in a while.
rcdinaz replied to ready2hunt's topic in The Campfire
Awesome! I watched it 3 times and laughed more the last than the first... I am guilty of MANY of those... I am sure you are all like me and would say your group over the years has covered most of these. "buy it all Bob" is probably one that I am stuck with! And our group is the "snack guy" theme as a whole, we eat better hunting than at home. -
Big or Bust I have one of those on a 8" square and it is pretty convenient!

I thought it was "in a van down by the river!"

EL 12's... I have all of them and have settled on the 12's and a spotter if I am not on a long hike. Just 12's if I am hoofing it. The 12's are the best compromise there is and they are not a big compromise from the 15's even at longer distances. 15's are great but frankly I don;t pick them up much at all anymore. One of my girls or me dad are usually on them.

they are good guys and close to work I may give them a ring. I am close to calling them on a barrel change for a rifle as well. The FFL listing site had them as expired but I think the list is pretty stagnant.

Blaster, welcome and thank you! Hopefully you get some time to relax and enjoy all the great outdoor opportunities around you. Make sure you hit up Ernesto since he is local, don't let that opportunity slip by!

lots of cool pics on this post!

Thanks average joe! 10 minutes from my house at most, I will give them a shout.

very good explanation... I would have just given the head moving exercise, this has much more detail. If is funny that this is one thing I did not spend much time on with my girls but on the rifle they have been shooting most they have said "it looks funny", caught me forgetting that last final step.

Good point I used one a long time ago and it worked out okay just a little sketchy feeling when I first went in to do the paperwork.

I have wanted to do this hunt for years and never made it. Anyone know what the drive is like form Pinetop? 2 or 3 hours to get back into a respectable hunting area?

I actually agree with this! Sprint routines and crossfit work for most people because you go all out and slowly are able to increase your work load. The first 60 days is going to suck if you primary activity before hand was competitive remote control flipping or mouse clicking maniac. Since getting back into working out I have stuck with crossfit, the first month I literally thought I was going to die more than once. Most people would have said I was in pretty good shape before as well so I can't imagine what starting out is like for someone obese.

rebar, cheap fairly easy to carry and sturdy. I am using the brackets in the first link but am not sure the guy on LRH is still making them. They were aluminum and very light. There is a you tube video where a guy makes the brackets out of large threaded nuts welded to rebar. I think you could get away with a 3 way PVC joint with a couple of pieces of PVC to extend them over the rebar legs, not sure if the impact would crack them. I made some awesome legs out of sliding aluminum tubing but after shooting them and them not sliding anymore I decided that was too expensive a solution. http://www.longrangehunting.com/forums/f43/target-stands-ar-500-plates-72573/index3.html http://www.amazon.com/The-Last-Stand-Target/dp/B00JVX4JB8

I keep them hanging in the garage... 2 hunting and 6 bowfishing, no problems but now that I said that I am sure something will happen next outing.

My last house was a corner house in a great neighborhood...never again! If it ain't the retired wannabe McGruff the Crime Dog folks complaining about the most ridiculous crap because they walk by your place every single day to get their mail it is teenagers and random strangers parked next to your lot leaving garbage, throwing crap over the fence, teasing the dog, breaking into the vehicles. Stopping now before I enter random endless rant mode. I am amazed we pay premiums for those lots!
