    8x or 10x BINOCULARS

If you have 15's go with 8x. I f you are going to do any type of spot and stalk then quick scanning is much easier than with 10x. If you usually sit or use sticks then 10x is probably better.

    8x or 10x BINOCULARS

I don't see finding many deer bedded in bushes at 1k yds with 8x and even 10x is a stretch. Heck even with 15x those suckers are still dang near invisible. my $0.02 if you are going with 1 pair then get 10x. Free hand use a walking stick to stop any shaking.

    In your pack optics?

I carry 12's now and a big ol 85 spotter if the terrain warrants it. I can pretty much get by with just the 12's but they are swaros, bank breakers. I would look for a spotter like the Minox suggested, good deal and light weight, or maybe the small vortex or gold ring.

    7mm Rem Mag Memorial Build

Lance, awesome project! for your scope choice I would take another look at the ER/T. Mil or LEO discounts are big on Leupold and this is a great scope. I have the 6.5x20 on my go to 7mm RM. I am not a Leupold fan and it is the only scope they make that I have but I ended up choosing this over my Nightforce which is now in a drawer waiting for another project. As for the others I like Burris and have 3 of their scopes but all are mid level with BDC type reticles. My issue with Burris and Bushnell is their scopes are freaking heavy! AS for the other mfg's nothing new to tell you the German glass and US Optics will hold their value and in the past have actually went up. Vortex well you can't beat the warranty and the Razor is great for the $ but again on the heavy side. I like my PST and it has not let me down and may be the best choice if cost is the main concern along with saving some weight.

    Scope help please

My $0.02! Both scopes are 21 oz so there is no weight difference by going smaller and the HS will hold its value better. I had my daughter using the PST on her rifle and she was great with it. If it were me I would get adjustable turret as suggested, you don't have to use it but will want to and it will hold its value better. If you are doing any brush busting that is the only reason to go down to 4x, 6x is a PITA if you are in close like everyone mentioned. extra free advice... lots of practice on the trigger is more important than a lot of range time. My girls sit or lie in the house on the floor and practice picking up very small items in the back yard and then releasing the trigger. Sitting, prone, etc. disclaimer: check the gun 10 times, start with no bolt in the chamber, don't point it at any critters 2 or 4 legged, etc. My girls were blessed to go on a guided hunt and the guides said they were better than most of their clients. Easily found the target, new exactly what to expect when we were working with them to adjust focus and elevation and were very comfortable behind the rifle. Both of them got their deer and loved the adventure.

    West of San tan mtn

We used to go out there when we were kids but now it is too hard to tell what is Res and private. Some good spots for a few things, good luck!

    Schedule

Hmmm... I think you have to state whether you are after a short term "I don't want to be a fat @ss!" program or long term leaning out that is sustainable. Going into ketosis works but so do just about all diets if you are disciplined. I don't think the high fat diet is an easy long term lifestyle change, short term "Pass the dang bacon!".

Agreed but sugar us evil and causes so many problems I always so "more power to you" when someone decides to cut out the sugar. And no I am not great at practicing what I preach. I ended up joining a cross fit gym, 2 weeks into it now. I like the work outs by my shoulder is a mess so all the overhead stuff is killing me or not possible on a few days. I will keep pushing and if it doesn't get better I may need to shuffle off to a doctor. Getting old sucks!

    Christmas Gathering

Thanks Keith for opening your home and for all the work that went into your amazing light show. Great looking bears as expected and a lot of other cool rugs and mounts. Our little girl had a great time playing and meeting Santa!
  16. I was looking at the P610, the review says the 900 is a "large" camera but I am not sure how much bigger that means that the 610.
  17. This is great info! I always assumed it would cost thousands to video a hunt well and did not realize a $300 camera could make great videos and long range. I am definitely going to try and have one of these for next season.

    that is a monster...

    Bipods

I use a short harris and a longer one. I almost always have the longer one for hunting because nearly every critter I have shot has required me to shoot sitting due to high grass, bushes, and other junk that gets in the way.

    New Topo Map app

AZBowhunter you can pull in Google Earth files for many of the apps. The process for loading them into an iPhone or Android are different so you will have to Google how to save and load .gpx files and then search the same for instructions in the app. I used MotionX successfully in Mexico on a coues hunt in the past. You may have to download/upload quite a few tiles to cover your area.

    Sonora Mexico Archery Buck

Great job! Temo always puts on a great hunt. We have done that drive the last couple of years and you are not kidding about the adventure up and down those mountains. Nice pictures!
  22. Awesome! I got tired of chasing a couple around Roosevelt lake two years ago. They were like quail run up on the bank and fly a couple of hundred yards at a time. Weird for a goose!

    Schedule

Here is what I am kicking around, starting this week. I need to get my butt back in shape enough to have a real goal for the Holidays so I can try and get back into some kind of routine. This bodyweight work out seems to be on a lot of men work out links. 3 sets 12-15 reps, rest between each superset 30 seconds 1ATuck Jump 1BPush-up 2A Squats 2B Mountain climbers 3A Tricep dips 3B Glute bridge (goofy looking chick exercise so I will sub with flags) 4A Jump plank 4B Superman Cool down with the old cat/cow and some hamstring stretches because sitting at a desk and on airplanes is quickly giving me the posture of quasimoto. I will add lunges and a little cardio/sprint work. Personally I think the lunges (which suck) are probably the best thing for carrying a pack (lateral and horizontal). Stability when walking seems pretty key. Writing it down here so I feel some obligation and in case anyone else is looking for reasonable place to get things started.
