Well I guess this thread is done!

    Scope Decision

I have one FFP Leupold ER/T and really like the scope. But in reality I have had 5 hunters shoot critters with that set up and all were dialed in with the turrets so the wiz-bang horus reticle has never gotten a real workout at any magnification. All my other scopes are SFP and are no issue. My next big challenge is to go between MIL & MOA. I want to add an MOA scope to my daughters rifle because it is more intuitive and quicker to learn than MIL.

Good video! we posted the same time or I wouldn't have bothered.

    Scope Decision

If you plan on always dialing the turrets FFP is not a big issue. FFP remains zeroed if you are shooting primarily off of the reticle MIL/MOA marks. The reticle will get larger as the power goes up due to the reticle location in the scope being forward of the lens magnification. SFP or second focal plane the reticle is fixed due to it being behind the magnification.
  5. I still have the '05 Avy with the 6" lift, 35's, crappy 5.3L, rack and tire on the top, what a pig, I get 10mpg... uphill, downhill, slow, fast (mostly slow) okay maybe it is 8-11 but does it really matter when it is that bad. Stupid Chevy, my car has a bigger engine and weighs half as much. I would love to buy a diesel and for the next truck sorry to say , it will probably be a Ford whether gas or diesel. Slight chance on a Tundra or a GMC. My wife has a Sequoia and it is a great rig so I have looked at the Tundra. Really, I want the diesel whether I can justify it or not torque, torque, and yes more torque!

Rain Gear - Brag about yours!

Kuiu and it is crazy good! most of the pricey stuff is very good. However the cheap stuff you wad up in a ball for short term use works really well also other than it doesn't breath much and can be noisy. Take you rain suede wash it really good, make sure it is very, very dry, and spray the piss out of it with rainguard, nikwax, campdry, etc. It will probably be good as new. You can get really crazy and use NeverWet, someone had a video of it on here and it will waterproof a cotton t-shirt.

    Auto Electrical Wiring Help

Frankly you can do this at home in less than an hour. dozens of YouTube videos on how to do this. You can go through the firewall or lift the carpet and find a drain plug. There are a bunch of videos . Also on the Silverado.com forum there is a tutorial done on '07 and up models. I would give the links but they will not paste into the forum for some reason... You can also probably run it to your fuse box with an inline fuse and not even mess with the firewall. Hook it into the power for the radio and it will come on and off with your ignition. Labor at a stereo shop is still going to be a minimum of $50 per hour.

I like the idea too!!! some of these threads sound like a chat line with a bunch of teenage girls... if its politics or a general topic inviting a bitch session I get it but come on gentlemen we are all supposed to be like minded residents of a forum. I cringe thinking new hunters or people moving to AZ get on a few of these and think this is normal. Remember it is just text and emotions don't translate well so a good rule is to try to not have them. Don't get offended just choose to ignore the idiots like a well adjusted adult... except Lark, who for reasons unknown to me, everyone has decided that the proper protocol is that we can be offended from the get go.

    Can't fix stupid

Not a boar, not a Blesbok, not a buffalo, not an M16 almost definitely not an automatic which the author assumed so he could make the article a little more scary! Wow this just seems to be random fear mongering not real big on facts.
  11. Oh the second one is a 7mm Dakota on a Remington action also a Brux barrel.
  12. Purely cosmetic... just not straight fluted.
  13. This is my go to right now: Stiller Predator action 7mm RM Brux barrel w/ interrupted fluting Jewel trigger McMillan stock Cerakote desert tan Leupold ER/T Scope Gemtech Suppressor (don't use this much as of now)

    Gun hates me

I am sure you have done this but really check out the scope, bases, and screws and make sure they are all tight preferably torqued to the right specs with the correct tool. Then scrub the piss out of it!
  16. Google "custom rifle actions" and you will get pages.. Bat, Defiance, Stiller, Bighorn, Nesika, Surgeon, Borden.... You will have to start with what action you want and what you are willing to spend. My favorite rifle is built on a stiller predator action and a brux barrel. After you have the action it is pretty easy to find a left hand barrel, trigger, rings, bases, etc. You may have to plan on waiting for a stock depending on what you are looking for. McMillan and HS usually have inventory as does Stocky's, the others plan on waiting. LRH or Sniper hide are going to be the quickest resources for info and feedback as sugar bear pointed out, good place to look.

Yep that is one fat bear!

    Gun hates me

Sounds like you have tried wverything... Mine loves H1000 or Ramshot Magnum and Nosler LR bullets in 168gr. Pull the stock look for rubbing, check scope bases and screws. You can try polishing it by hand ir with the Tubb's kit if tou want to keep chasing accuracy with that barrel. That's all I got! Good luck!

    Kermit

Now I see him! Little tree frog, my daughter catches them all the time up in Pinetop. I guess they don't have to be to close to water because she has caught them in the middle of the woods and by the house. Now if you had found the pig that would have been an amazing find!

    Kermit

An invisible one is my guess! VERY rare to actually catch one.

    Boots... lets hear it...

I have a pair of Zamberlands also and they are awesome well made boots. That being said the toe box is not quite perfect for me but they are much better for carrying a heavy pack. I also agree that 90% of the time the gore-tex is a waste and just makes your foot sweat. I probably went through a dozen high end boots over 5-6 years before finding the Asolo fit my foot best. I still want to try the Crispi boots because they are made on a European last and should fit better. I also want a pair of Ahnu for light hiking. I bought my daughter a pair and she loves them and they weigh nothing. Get what fits not just the name you like best. I take constant crap from one of my buddies for wearing tree hugger boots from REI. I keep telling him those hiking dorks really know their stuff when it comes to boots and you can return anything. Plus the look on some of their faces when I tell them I am hunting is priceless. Someone has to fill those little bags of jerky they sell.
