Kowa Highlanders/ for those who've had or used them
rcdinaz replied to 1denogean's topic in Optics and tripods
Becker who did your Swaros? Seems like the best option. -
Japan is by far my favorite place in all of Asia. A fantastic place it is very clean, has great culture, the food is awesome, and there is something for everyone depending on which cities you hit. You made it to a few cities I want to go back and travel more outside of the Tokyo and other city areas that I spent time in for work. Great pics!

Good luck in court! I still don't understand why your question was answered like you were on trial here but I commend you for playing along.

Have all your info together and be able to articulate what you need to say as concisely as possible. Dress like you belong there and be as polite and professional as you can. Sounds like you should get off on this one.

The Deadline is in... What did you put in for?
rcdinaz replied to DeerCraver's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Deer and Sheep only one choice so really looking at bonus points this year other than the kids 23 Jr hunt. Also put in for Aug bear and that guaranteed tag. So we will be out there cussing the bugs and the heat and sweating like a hooker in church. Cant wait! -
I will take a box if you have one left?

Do you agree with G&F forcing kids to take Hunter Safety???
rcdinaz replied to Big Browns's topic in Youth Hunters
Yes, I groaned about taking my daughter but it was time well spent. I have been twice now, my dad demanded I take the class and he went with me. I still remember it as a good memory and mostly a lot of fun. So make a weekend out of it and make some memories during the field testing. -
Yep! this sucks!

Uggg. the site ain't working now so good job getting this done before the mayhem. I have been out of town with no time to get online so this is frustrating as can be!

First load. Should I throw this out?
rcdinaz replied to apache12's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Apache, here are few short articles worth the read: http://www.bergerbullets.com/setting-loads-optimum-accuracy/ http://www.bergerbullets.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/COAL.pdf http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2009/03/berger-tips-for-loading-vld-bullets/ Average Joe makes a very good point! If you are loading for a set magazine length then your COAL is pretty much decided right there and you can move on to bullet choice & powder charge development. One other thing. If you buy Nosler or Lapua brass it is already machine finished at the factory so the case length, mouth, and flash hole are ready to go. They cost more but seem to be very consistent and last longer which in my opinion is worth it. I have switched to Nosler brass on the two rifles we shoot the most. -
First load. Should I throw this out?
rcdinaz replied to apache12's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
This may make a bigger difference than any other variable. Bullet seating depth and OAL can change a 1/4" MPA round to a 2" MOA round in a hurry. As recommended find start with a fixed OAL usually a standard from a reloading book or other load data. Then make sure your die are screwed down tight and your rounds are consistent. If you haven't you should buy a headspace gauge set like the one in the link below. Sportsmans, Bass Pro, and Cabelas should have them on hand. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/479704/hornady-lock-n-load-headspace-gage-5-bushing-set-with-comparator?cm_vc=ProductFinding After you settle on your powder charge then start moving the bullet out as you described. This is probably the step where the two rifles will disagree on what they like. One other thought, don't mix the nice once fired brass from each rifle or you will always have to go back to a completely full length resized die for all of your loads. This shortens the life of your brass and can have small affects on accuracy compared to partially or neck sizing your brass. -
Where to buy roll of foam.... 2" or 4" for sleeping
rcdinaz replied to Chris's topic in The Campfire
We have a folding mat at home made of memory foam and it is better than most beds. Only downside is that stuff is like a bag of bricks, it is heavy! -
Freaky don't be discouraged you asked for help and got it figured out before anything bad happened. Get back at it and find your load you won't be the first or last to have this kind of issue. You will get there and with the right gun, good loading technique, and good shooting practice you can get to 1,000 yards and a year from now you won't care things got difficult. Calibrate both scales or buy a new one and double/triple check until you have confidence in your equipment. I hate to see people miss out on having fun and learning new skills because starting out got difficult.

Wow! That thing is a monster! Congratulations on an amazing buck!

I will tell you those swampfox waders are still probably the best I have ever owned. If they had the full size in camo I would grab a pair. I eventually tore a whole in the boot at the seem but I wore the snot out of 'em. The material never did leak or have any issues and they are light and very comfortable. -
Shhhhhhhhhh! Quite! Let them go to the rim lakes. Oh yaaaaa.... What I meant is I really recommend is Rainbow Lake! There will be lots of nice childrens, fidos, and joggers, to hold your rod and help you catch fish!

I agree with Murf... not trying to be a know it all but I would check that scale and make sure it is calibrated. Only Hornady makes a 30cal 160gr and they use red tips. The green is the indicator for Nosler .308 (all weights) but Sierra had green tips but a much darker green for their Gamekings as well. The extruded powder could be from anyone unfortunately. It may not even be Vihtavouri and not any listed, not likely though. If I had to guess I am with the rest of the group and would try to duplicate with 4350 which is very common for 30cal. Also try and get it over a chrony and get the MV for your loads. You may not ever know the exact recipe, probably cant tell which primer is in there either, but you can easily duplicate the speed, cartridge OAL, and bullet seating depth and probably have near identical performance. How far out do you need it to reach and what are your expectations? I ask because a lighter bullet like those loads tends to indicate you are not chasing long range shots and tiny groups (not a criticism). If you need a 500 yard and in round I am betting any of the options Lance or Murf gave you could get you there. After that load up another 100 to 200 rounds and be good to go.

Thanks! I will check it out.

Great info! I am going to have to give this a whirl.

Awesome boom stick! Which suppressor are you using. My Gemtech is rated for 30 cal but not magnums over 300win so I am curious. I want to build a 338 bad but I will probably go Edge or Lapua unfortunately it won't be this year.

If you can make the trip to Reservation Lake you will cut way down on the people and catch more fish. The reservation lakes in general have crowds that are a bit smaller or Big lake at least you can find a spot to avoid someone on top of you. Hiking the river is also a lot of fun and you can catch fish while you enjoy the scenery. Good luck!

I gotta try this with all the bowfishing lights on the boat but I am usually trying to shoot fish. When we chase fish at some lakes we get hundreds maybe thousands of minnows flying everywhere. A lot of times you can here the bass chasin the minnows at the edges of the light. I have heard a lot of good reports on the green submersible LED's for Crappie. Coues pursuit what is the bait of choice? drown some minnows, jigs, maybe its a secret. I could use advice from you experts Crappie fishing usually just frustrates the heck out of me.

Icon 5000 (original), Eberlestock X2, Dragonfly, and Elk Hunter. For overnight backpacking it would be the Kuiu but I use the heck out of the Elk Hunter and lover that pack. I used the Dragonfly for at least 10 years and beat the tar out of it and it is finally starting to show. I just can't get away from the convenience of the scabbard. Half the time I have a tripod and stool in the scabbard but it is always in use.
