Awesome! Thanks for the heads up on the color. I agree I think the next 3-4 weeks should be a lot of fun. I will let you know if we find the crappie and can get them to cooperate.

It really is that much better. It is sealed so the water and cleaning agent can't leak out. It is basically a rock polishing tumbler. Buy this one, find a 20% or 25% off coupon and it is a steal. Comparable ones are $150 http://www.harborfreight.com/dual-drum-rotary-rock-tumbler-67632.html The media isn't cheap but you only buy it once, this one comes with the detergent: http://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Steel-Tumbling-Media-Pins/dp/B00IER1VCM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1426191426&sr=8-3&keywords=stainless+steel+media For $75 or less you will never buy walnut or corn media again and have supremely clean brass inside and out. When you run out of cleaning agent buy Lemi-shine and the bottle should last you forever since you don't need much to clean the brass.

Great pics! thanks for sharing, love that snake one.

Heading up tomorrow to do some fishing and shooting. I will let you all know how it goes. I have read the crappie and bass are turning on so I am hoping I can do some shooting in the backs of the coves after working the cover for Bass. If I can find some crappie just another bonus! Dang now I am all excited and want to leave today!

I have various hash marks in all of my scopes and some are really useful but mostly for a gun that I don't plan on shooting over 500 yards, probably more like 400yards. I can shoot the hashmarks with good accuracy using iStrelok drop info. For very accurate long range shooting where you are dialing your turrets hashmarks are not really needed. I have a Leupold ERT with the Horus H37 reticle which is one intimidating reticle that should allow me to never turn a turret. Guess what? I dial the turrets and the rifle has yet to miss a critter. Not bragging, half of those shots were made by other hunters. If you have marks you need to practice with them as much as the turret. I have all mil reticles and I used to have a couple of rifles I knew pretty well using the marks. I have since forgotten most of what I knew since I don't practice that way anymore. If I were starting out I would go with MOA turrets the measurement is much more intuitive and if you have a spotter much simpler to dial their feedback. Sightron was mentioned, that will most likely be my next scope purchase followed by Zeiss. Both are great glass and tend to weigh less than the others.

I don't have that one either but 3 other Burris and they are made really well with decent glass. The only knock I ever had against Burris is they are dang heavy compared to their comp in most cases. Means they are built solid but probably not a great fit for a mountain rifle.

Awesome! Great report trying to get up there on Friday. How bad was the wind. I know Rosey can get pretty ugly in spring with the waves.

Good looking set-ups! Add a steel media tumbler and get rid of the vibratory cleaner. You can buy the tumbler at Harbor Freight with a coupon for a steal. Cleanest brass ever down to the primer pockets.

That is one of the coolest displays I have ever seen! A ton of work and better than anything on display at Bass Pro or Cabelas.- 15 replies

Any one every stashed hunting gear-supplise in the back country?
rcdinaz replied to muledeerhntr's topic in The Campfire
Never done it but I have seen it done along with some 1 gallon water bottles. Most I have done is stash a coupe of water bottles on the hike in because I knew I was coming back that way and didn't have to carry them. -
Put a beer can holder on the handle bars. After the can holder make sure a lift kit is installed! Blood! Blood always makes things more hillbilly! Also, find a copenhagen sticker.

My buddy uses the 650's and they are great. Touch screen, new clip, better battery, lots of improvements.

They look good!

You can have a clear coat of cerakote applied over the hydrodip also. Good idea! I was going to jump back on and suggest clear coat but didn't know cerakote had one. For the rubberized finish I am betting a clear coat of plastidip would probably work perfectly.

If you can't return it I am pretty sure you will get 3-4 loadings out of them anyway unless for some reason they are a big magnum caliber. I have used them in the past in .243 and not major issues. Also, it depends on which die and what material if it will wear your die faster. Most of us don't shoot enough to wear out a set of dies. Not saying you don't, just most of us don't shoot that much unless it is something like an AR.

I'm in for one rifle stock! Oh and on the rubberized stocks you can do it but it comes off if you rub it against stuff. You can sand off the rubberized material. Oh I have some bow limbs I would like to do at some point as well!

Garmin Glo and your smart phone or iPad mini via bluetooth: http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-Portable-GLONASS-Receiver-Vehicle/dp/B00AYAZENY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1425239140&sr=8-1&keywords=garmin+glo Best GPS reciever you can get and you can use MotionX, Trimble, etc anywhere you go. You do have to download maps if you are out of cell range but once you do the satellite acquisition and screen is miles better than any GPS. Easy to take back up batteries, solar charger, and a std USB cord so you can charge it up but it lasts a really long time, since it has no screen, if you turn it off when not in use. Other choices if you have a specific need: DeLorme InReach if you need satellite texting, works really well! Amanda has a write up on here about these units. I used one from Mexico to check in each day. It can send auto updates for tracking you on a map as well, even via facebook. And it has an SOS feature if you get into trouble. Garmin Rino if you need to keep track of your hunting partners and they are willing to buy one as well. Built in radio and Rino tracking feature.

That is awesome! At first I thought it was fake since training them seems like it would be impossible.

From my experience so far I like the LRAB as much or better and wished they had them in the 180's as well. From a ballistics standpoint they seem to be almost identical on my drop charts, the LRAB show a little better but I did switch powder after the first batch I made with H1000.

Nice find! Looks good!

Wow big deer! look well over 110 to me.

I have shot that load for some time. 69.5g of H1000 and 168's and it shoots awesome, just under 3,000 fps. For hunting I switched 2 years ago to Ramshot Magnum, 70gr and the Nosler 168gr HVLD's. I get the same speed, accuracy, and it is a ball powder that meters/measures easier than anything I have tried. It is also as stable or more when it comes to temperature changes. In the last two years, 4 coues, 2 mulies, and a bear, not a bad record so far same rifle, same load.

Great pic!

Seriously!!! What eat's wild horses!

jnf, nothing more I can really share unless you have a very specific question. The parts list is above and in the attachment right above your entry. Open the attachment it is very detailed.
