Well done & Congratulations! I think everyone should get some practice in like this. It makes the 300&400yd stuff much easier and really builds confidence once you understand all the little things it takes to make th elonger shots. It also makes one shot kills a much more regular event.

best cooler canyon or yeti

At that price I am with you! that is a great deal on a 162qt cooler... A little dry ice and I could make it work like a Yeti. -

Happy Birthday! Still the best site!

Pretty much... You can skin them but there is a lot of work to take care of a hide after you skin it. Of course this is great practice for when you finally have to skin a trophy. You can videos on YouTube if you want details on skinning and tanning.

one more suggestion, this one I have yet to do but will be setting up on my daughters rifle for the next scope we get. http://customturretsystems.com/ You can order a turret label for $25. Might want to try it this way before you get the permanent version. You could get one for a different elevation than the Kenton and have more options.

iStrelok... Will do it for you on your phone and you can print the image and tape it to your stock. This takes all the figurin' out of your problems. Still a good idea to sit down and run the calculations yourself and get the 3.6" number (1 mili @ 100yds) stuck in your brain for shot adjustments on the fly. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/istrelok/id319662395?mt=8 There is an Android version as well for you non-conformists

Episode two, cougar punch! awesome!

I have to agree with the opinion on the heavier bullets, they tend to maximize the reason you would buy a RUM. I shot 180 well for the most part but when I decide to get a scope on mine again 190's, 200's, and 210's will be what I work on.

Great article, congratulations!

I have a canyon and it is a great cooler, mine has the old latches which are a big weak point but the new ones are really good. That being said when I looked at them the Pelican and Yeti seem to be made a little better. All of them are built like tanks so they will last a long time. We really only got a couple years out of the big igloos before the latches and drain plugs went and another couple years before they get bent out of shape and the lids dont close well. -
I need a couple of 4831's. I will PM you my number.

Yes! I have shot it in 300 Ultra, 7mm RM, and now 6.5x284. It really depends if your gun does okay with bullet jump in a VLD type bullet. Some guns only like the bullet seated to/around the lands. The HSM is a loaded at standard COAL length which means it has a lot of jump to get to the barrel. But when they shoot good it is awesome since you have a go to factory load for a VLD. My 7mm shoots lights out with my hand loads but I still have a box or two of the HSM's on hand because it shoots good enough that I can use them if I need to. So far the little 6.5 seems to shoot them really well. If you dont have the barrel twist for the long bullets it probably wont shoot them well at all. My buddy tried his 243 and they would not stabilize well.

My clan will be there! Both of my daughters have tags, I am probably more excited than they are.

I think UCLA and Oregon had early enough losses that if they start clobbering everyone and win the Pac 12 championship they will be right in the mix of the top 5. Big IF... We really need ASU to hammer Notre Dame, if you are a fan of any Pac 12 team you better be routing for this one. With this the only out of conference game anyone has left it will be a big part of the rankings. Even you UofA fans better be channeling major positive juju at this game!

Excellent! Great smile! Both my girls have hunts at the end of the month. Nice to see them get excited.

I was interested in this thread because the OP asked a good question. I think it would be great to have my RZR or ATV's run quieter and I have never planned on hunting from them just getting to and from. Here are a couple of good reasons for a quieter ride. When I am on the rim with the family and driving to the natl forest from our house some of the the old crabby retired turds complain and give dirty looks to anyone driving by if they aren't in a golf cart. Also, when camping or hunting it sure would be a genuine courtesy to have a quieter machine, no different than trying to have a quieter generator, diesel engine, or boat motor (for those that don't swim after and catch them bare handed). Let's give the op the benefit of the doubt like we do most people on this forum and not keep busting his balls about how the rest of us are Iditarod champions and usually run up cliff faces or take our dog sled into the deep woods so that we can mind meld with nature. Only Chuck Norris has the site of the hawk and can carry out an elk in one trip single handedly!

nice job! that would be an awesome bull to have on the wall.

ASU got hammered... second string QB...blah, blah, blah. Doesn't matter as a rule they will always be better than UofA in everything with the exception of basketball. Hey we gotta give you something. I won't make fun of Tucson either, AZ is a great state and I like almost all of it. UofA envy of ASU gives some people a meaning to life and I wouldn't want anyone to lose their reason to live. My wife is a Lumberjack from Not A University (NAU), man that joke never gets old even if it costs me dearly...

Have him fixed that will teach him!

Nope! And that is awesome, well done! My dad said he saw my grandfather shoot two deer back in the day when you could shoot does. I haven't done it on anything but birds.

Reloading package, how much?
rcdinaz replied to Arrowsniper's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Get a good turret press it just makes life easier... I have the T7 and it works well. I have a dillon but only really use it for hand gun loads anymore. But reality is you can make very precise loads in a starter kit if you take your time and make all your actions easily repeatable. I do feel it is very important to work on starting load development by measuring powder by hand until you have dialed in your go to load. Buy Shawn Carlock's loading for long range video and watch it a few times, take notes, and have at it.
