    Bowfishing deck: 1st try

Okay so here is my first try and putting together a deck to bowfish from. It works great and the lights are surprisingly bright. There are 4 more smaller floods I can point and swivel that are not on it. I can mount them on the boat rail directly. It has two floors so I can hide the wire and have the foot control flat (advice from this forum). Everything goes off or on in about 20-30 minutes and can store flat, well except the conduit. My plan was to do it in wood and then when I can afford it have one made in aluminum, probably 3"-4" higher than this one. I will also add LED flood lights to the front and move the others to the side. Anyway, I guess I am addicted to this it is a blast!

    Target Needed

I think I may have already posted this but a buddy that works at bass pro told me the BP too end 3D deer is made by rinehart. He said when they go on sale they are a great deal. I am not sure about the blocks I didn't ask about them. As mentioned camofire has some great deal going on now on a few different targets.

    Chronograph help

They all have some bad reviews. I have two different models of shooting Chrony and they work great (F1 & Beta).
  6. Sounds interesting! All though if you can flip it around to high alcohol and low hangover you may have magic in a bottle!

Any Fishing recommendations in Maui for honeymoon

I went during summer, my sisters wedding. I believe it was June. Kuaui bass fishing sounds awesome. Last fall we were there and went on an amazing zip line tour and the guide told me there is some really great bass fishing in some of the creeks and small lakes and of course the scenery is amazing.

Any Fishing recommendations in Maui for honeymoon

I have been and it turned out to be the most expensive whale watching tour ever. You have potential to catch a monster in Hawaii but not a lot of action like Mexico. The boats that just do the bay in shore fishing catch mahi mahi pretty regularly and some had big hauls. So I wouldn't spend the money on deep sea adventure, I would find one of the half day boats that aren't chasing billfish and have some fun! Good Luck!

    Dial Drop Determination Questions?

I set my drops using the shooter app and base them on my shooting results at 100yds and then adjusted for my POI at 500yds and sometimes 700 yds. The app wil fine tune the MV so that the drop model fits your results. 500 and in it does not make too much difference, past that it does. I do not have any of the load specific turrets but will get a few initially for my Mark IV. My plan is to start using the stick on ones from custom turret before I finalize anything. I also agree that 5000 ft is a good middle ground and when I discussed it with the turret guys the rule of thumb was POI was pretty good up and down about 1500 ft in most cases. So that would cover you for almost all of our hunting out to about 500yds depending on how your gun is set up. You could do a 200yd zero and stretch it a bit.

    Wtb bolt handle

I thought you said bolt handle, did you mean the entire bolt? You may need to check headspace but I can't imagine it will change but I have not done any real changes to the savages I have to know.

    New gun!

Very nice! That is smokin' ! I don't even shoot mine with that kind of MV using the 168's. Let us know what load you are using.

    Morels/Ginsing in AZ???

Peyote? I wouldn't know what to look for out that is the only thing that comes to mind that people look for in the desert. Well, maybe chiltepin bushes in the southern desert. I guess they are expensive at least for a pepper, and they are hot little suckers.
  16. No don't sell it! Just shoot reduced loads and it will kick just like a smaller caliber. There is no reason you cant make it into a 7mm-08 with your loads or the factory reduced recoil rounds. Second option, rebarrel it. I just sold a 6-284 barrel on here, with the dies and some bullets for less than the cost of the custom die set . You cold get a take off barrel for nothing and pick your caliber 6mm, 6.5mm, .308 etc. Search sites like long range hunting, snipers hide, etc and you will find a barrel. Take it to a good smith like the guys at Phoenix Customs and let them install and make sure everything is in place. If you need someone closer I am sure someone can suggest a smith in your area.

    Wtb bolt handle

Call Marty at Twisted Barrel and he will make you whatever you want with whatever fluting and with a few size choices. He just did an entire rifle for me and he does great work! http://twistedbarrel.com/tactical-bolt-knobs/

    Proper shooting technique

First 3" surprises me, that is a ton or at least it is if you are getting that at 100 yards. If it was 500 or more then it would not be terribly surprising. I think you are going to get a few different answers on your question. I think one thing that will change things is how heavy the rifle is. If you look at competitive (not hunting) shooting the rifles are very heavy and require the shooter to touch the rifle very little. I only bring it up because a lighter hunting rifle in a lot of positions is going to require you to hold on to the front of the stock. Prone as you mentioned takes a lot of the issue away since you can align the rifle (in theory) with your body so the recoil does not cause a lot of muzzle flip. Most of the other positions obviously change alignment. I try not to squeeze the crap out of the stock regardless of the shooting position. I attempt to hold on to everything with only the pressure required to stay on target I guess I would describe it as firm but relaxed. Shooting past 500 yards I really want to be able to get prone, sitting even off a bipod I feel I move just a little too much to really be dialed in at the further distances. This is with targets and animals move so even more so on getting prone. There are a some on here that shoot or are trained to shoot competitively that can probably give some details on what they do and how things change from competition to hunting situations.

    AR500 shooting target

Industrial metal supply Phx has them as well. They are across from the entrance to Diablo. They had a big one cut out like a pig and both round and square targets.

    battery lanterns

Barebones rechargeable lantern! It also can be used to charge your cell-phone. This became the go to light onmy last coues trip for everyone in camp. It is not the most durable of all the ones out but from a utility standpoint it is the best I have used. I wont do "D" or "C" battery stuff anymore although I do have a "D" battery LED lamp as well but it is nothing like this lamp. http://www.amazon.com/Barebones-Forest-Light-Camp-Lantern/dp/B00C5VWW4Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1399592987&sr=8-1&keywords=barebones+lantern Camofire runs them for around $50 if you can catch one on their daily deals.
