Huntermncb, 6.5 Sin, that sounds fun! I would guess Nosler is focused on the guy who buys it off the shelf, throws some Nosler factory ammo in it, shoots a box or two and is tickled that he has a group under an inch, then takes his cracks at the 300 yd target and giggles with excitement at good results. After that he checks it each season to make sure it is still shooting 10x's and goes hunting. If you think about it that way this rifle will last him 20 years and lots of stories about small to medium size critters meeting their demise. The rest of you accuracy geeks and speed freaks already have a few 6.5's that are close, easy to get sizing dies, bunch of loading info, premium powders, and custom guns. I am guessing the 6.5/06 AI is right there with this caliber in the 140grbullets. For $4K you could have a really sweet stick. I have a 6/284 that shoots 100gr at 3400fps that will be a 6.5/284 by next season. The barrel has plenty of life left after around 500 rounds but it doesn't fit my needs.

??????????????????????????? Go to the baboon exhibit at the zoo. Your pic almost looks like one when they are sitting hunched up. -

Given the 6.5's are the latest craze for long range shooting I think your 6.8 should be just fine. You really need to just work on finding a load and bullet suited for long range hunting. As suggested the 150gr bullets are a really good bet. Make sure you are pushing it fast enough to take advantage of the high BC and that your gun/you are capable of consistently making shots out to 800. Also, remember shot selection is really going to be your biggest battle, after 500yds shooting in the wind things get tough even with heavier caliber bullets. The practice at long range is going to make you a better hunter/marksman so go for it and have fun!

Well the first page was good... Why did we ruin it with arguments already located in a dozen other posts. Let the D-baggery list live!

Should fit but if not their policy is that id they don't have your model they will make it for free if you loan them your binos as a model. Took a couple weeks when they did it for my Swarovski range finder.

I do it all the time with the binobib. Great product and it is an AZ company. http://www.scopecoat.com/products/binobib

7mm rem mag load for nosler long range accubonds
rcdinaz replied to westernhunter23's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I loaded this info in another thread. I killed my Mexico Coues this year at just over 300yds, dropped where he stood, with this load: 70gr Ramshot Magnum 168gr LRAB Nosler brass CCI Large rifle primer ~2,950 fps Rifle: Stiller Predator 7mm RM Brux Barrel 26" For this gun: - Max OAL using a Stoney Point gauge for me was 3.83 (at lands) and I ended up at 3.815 for the sweet spot. If I drop down the OAL too much or if the bullet touches the lands groups size grew quite a bit. -
That is what I want to see.... Something less tags, fork or better, close a few units every few years, kill lions, something!

On the flip side I don't mind that much. A movie is $8 now and most of them suck, I know hunting is always a home run. Not commenting on the G&F spending it the correct way, any bureaucracy finds ways to waste money.

Great work on a really cool deer!

Good plan! Who needs California anyway...

Much longer than that probably the last 20 or more. I used to bring back single malt that was 15-20 yr and it was a steal at the duty free in most of Asia. The Japanese have some great whiskey's they have been making for a very long time but they are really expensive. Would prefer it stay American owned but Japan is probably the best alternative as they are crazy about the best processes and quality, and they dont care for China much. I prefer good old American small batch bourbon myself. dang ow I am thirsty!

I have 3 different models of Eberlestock, a big Kuiu, and a Cabelas frame pack. I cant get away from the scabbard on the Eberle packs it just works way to well. That being said you really need 2 packs, one for your normal runs and an ultralight pack for multi-day use. My hunting buddy is a Badlands guy and uses their big pack for all of his hunting far or near. There are a lot of good choices right now and you are timing it right to be on the lookout for a steal on a used pack. Right now my go to pack is the Team Elk pack which is extremely well thought out and has the scabbard. Great pack!

okay got my load book out. Same barrel as yours and and the funny thing was I lost velocity at max OAL, probably a pressure issue with the bullet touching the lands. I initially shot some test rounds with lower powder charges 0.10 off the lands and had +1.5" group from my notes. Max OAL using a Stoney Point gauge for me was 3.83 (at lands) and I ended up at 3.815 for the sweet spot. The 2910 you came up with is very close, could be distance to chrony, or change in temp. Throughout all my testing notes I had rounds as low as 2,793 (touching) and as high as 2969. At your chrony measuring 2,910 is probably not too far off from where I was with mine at about 12 feet away. When you make the adjustment at the muzzle you are probably in the 2,920 to 2,925 range for you ballistics calculations. Between that a different chrony, atmosphere, different gun etc being off 20-25 fps is a pretty small amount. Rifle: Stiller Predator 7mm RM Brux Barrel 26"
