    2 Piece Scope Coat

The company "scope coat" is here in AZ, in Phoenix up north. They are really gray people, a few ladies run the operation from a house that has a big part of it turned into an office. They have a policy that they will make anything if you can leave the optic with them they will have what you want in a week or two. They have patterns already for almost everything out there that is popular. I had a swaro RF early on and they made the first cover for that model for me and now offer them. Oh and your cover is free if it a model they don't have. Call them and tell them what you are after they will take care of you. Can't beat using a local company!

    Correction period eliminated

Unless you don't have a printer... I think you can now get a printer for about $50... hard to by a $57 license and not justify a printer. Oh an dyou can save the .pdf to your phone, iPad, laptop, etc. I am not sure what they would say if you showed the .pdf and you cant stick your stamps to it but you would hvae proof of the license.

    Early Calling Fun

If he attacked my SUV I would shoot him as well 😛. Nice pic and good shootin!
  7. Cheap as already said! Actually last year I bought the better Win stuff also and liked it. I still think a case of cheap shells and a trip to the range is the best bet, more shooting = less missing 😉

Shooter (Ballistic Calculator) for Iphone users.

I only use Shooter at this point after trying a half dozen others. I cannot get the option for pressure to change either, just tried. I believe you can only do this when you add a new bullet profile and do not know if the choice between ICAO or ASM matters in order to change the setting, probably shouldn't. e-mail Sean Kennedy shooter@kndy.net and ask him to tell you what step you are missing. He has been pretty quick at responding to my questions in the past. Please share the repsonse back with us if you can.

    .280 ackely improved dies

Bruno's should have them or will order them immediately if out. Or just go to redding they will stock that caliber since it is a big benchrest caliber. Get the bushing dies and order at least one or two bushing above or below the std neck size so you can play with how tight the neck is.

    Aluminum or steel rings?

They both work obviously steel is stronger. I have seen a lot of debate on some other shooting sites due to aluminum having properties that would mean it fatigues faster and can move more with heat or cold. Problem is that your scope has a great deal of aluminum alloy it is constructed of so the internals or tube would already have some of the issues the rings made. I am sure others will have some good feedback and insight. I say get what you like, if your building a mtn rifle then go with all lightweight parts and keep it light. If it is a big magnum you are not saving enough weight to make up for a heavy long rifle with a large action.

    Team Elk pack

Do you think you will have the packs in for August like the site says? In Western Slope? I want to pick up the multi-pack accessory as well. Thanks!

    Team Elk pack

I finally got one from a member on here. Great pack! It holds more than you think it will and the layout is very good. This is my new favorite pack for day trips or even an overnighter. I carried 4 game cams, locks, binos, RF, jacket, 2 bottles of water, phone, small charger, and all the little extra stuff for about 5 hours and it was great. I have a dragonfly, X1, and Kuiu along with some cheaper packs for reference.

    Seeking Youth Shotgun Advice

My buddies daughter started with the 870 "cute pink camo" and she is not real big and knocked down a dove or two last season. My oldest shoots whatever but she was always tall for her age and recoil seems to not phase her (adrenaline junky) as long as she can shoulder it. My worst experience as a kid was the little single shot 20 gauge. I shot everything my dad owned and didn't complain but couldn't hit jack with the little 20g. My dad got frustrated that I kept asking to shoot his gun and said fine but after taking a few shots at quail he looked at me and said "we are going to do something different and you dont ever have to shoot that little gun again". After I was older and on to buying my own gear he told me that he was shocked that little gun had such sharp recoil. It wasn't magnum rifle type of ft pounds but that thing slapped me silly. Long story to say the little guns aren't necessarily kid friendly even if they are kid sized.

    Seating lug marks on reloads

For the most part now I only use redding bushing dies so that you can control neck tension, if needed. Redding also makes standard and vld seating stems which I also use. There are other great brands but this seems to have simplified all the little learning curve issues I had using hornady, lee, dillon, rcbs, etc. Oh I still use dillon for all the handgun rounds, the carbide dies are fantastic for loading lots of rounds on the 550.
  21. Rifle chamber cleaning tool from Sinclair or midway. Break free or other product let sit come back and dry up the excess with the mop that goes with the tool. It should only have powder residue so it shouldn't be a scrubbing type of job. Then lube lugs on the bolt very lightly, Kel lube wont bind and has very high and low temp rating and a small bottle lasts forever the bottle has a needle type metal tip so you can put very small amounts exactly where you want it. Of course you can make a bore mop and a few q tips work as,we'll.
  22. That is great! Shotguns don't have too many devices but I am amazed at all the crap any of them can take in do to a lot of large openings in the action. Reality is they need to be taken down every season to give a quick clean and lube. Hmmmm now if I was only better at practicing what I preach! I clean the duck cannon because i take it down to travel but the others not enough.

    Bore sighting

Ditto! Just align the center of the barrel with a paper target at 25 yds and get started. I have never had a gunsmith bore site a rifle. Just make sure your scope is mounted square to begin with.

Nitto terra grapplers or Big O bigfoot A/T's

Get on Craigslist and find a used tire. I found one that had almost no miles for $75. I went back and bought a full set that looked brand new, one set they had still had the stickers on them. I think I spent $450 for a $1,200 set of tires that had to have less than 10K miles on them.
