Awesome! They are really active right now because the weather is perfect for them. I only know because my wife and kids have one as a pet along with 3 other families we know. They are smarter than we give them credit for as well, ours comes to the door and follows our 2 year old around waiting for food.

Catch hit they are expensive birds! Great story!

Doesn't even look like a deer... I like deer with trash but this one is so bad I think most people's first question would be "what is it!".

Can Mitt possibly dig himself any deeper?

I was one of the few like a couple of you that didn't really think he stuck his foot in his mouth. I do think the media ran with it to overshadow the current disaster in the middle waste. With Obama doing nothing any thing to draw fire towards the evil conservative is required. Bottom line is I am really not sure that anyone not already blindly convicted to being a liberal cared much about what Romney said. IMHO... -

Sharing the Wealth

Exactly! My experience is that liberals are usually those that think "someone should do something about the needy" unfortunately it is not them it is someone else like the gov. They could get rid of that guilt real quick by just helping someone out or picking a charity to support but they think that is for rich people. -
I guessed high, I was thinking 170 maybe eek into 180 range. Some of the pics he looks like he has pretty good mass and pic facing looked like he was awfully tall. You guys are better at calling them than I am. Either way bigger than any I have shot, it has been a long time since I even had a mulie tag. It was a pleasant surprise to have the bucks show in the area anyway and odd that no real bull's have shown in the area. Since I don't have a tag maybe he wont show for hunting season this year and get into the 180's for next year.

Exactly my experience...

168gr Berger VLD @ 3000fps in the RM, 180gr VLD @ 3050 fps in the Dakota If conditions were right with low/no wind out to 700yds but for the most part 500yds and in I am very comfortable. I still like to practice and shoot at 1K but even on still targets there is a lot going on once you pass that 700 yd mark. It seems to close the distance to 500 yds is usually doable anyway.

All 2nd focal plane (SFP) scopes change POI when change from the magnification they are sighted in at. This happens because the reticle is in a position where it does not change but the magnification does. If you have a 1st focal plane (FFP) scope then the POI will not change but you will see the reticle get very fine at low mag settings and thicker at high settings. FFP scopes will cost more than SFP scopes from the same mfg but more and more mfg's are ading FFP scopes to their line ups. Will hunt the scope you reference probably does not have enough magnification range to make the POI noticeable different until you get out to some longer ranges. At 100-200yds you would probably not notice much change. I have both styles and all in mil-dot reticle types but if I was just starting I would try and use FFP & MOA scopes. It is much easier to talk to your buddies in MOA or IPHY than in mils unless they are ex-military or in a trade that uses milliradians so the increase in expense is justified.

I think I became physically ill reading that and imagining if it were me! I really hope it turns up.

Brown Pelicans at Patagonia Lake/Amanda is Everywhere
rcdinaz replied to a topic in Non-hunting trip reports
Good pics! There are some at the preserve at the end of Tempe Town Lake right now also. I always thought San Carlos was wierd because we see them there along with a whole mess of white pelicans as well. They are big birds when you get close! -
New pair of boots wanted for low desert hot hunting

Depends on who you talk to a few have been really interested in what I am doing and a few are tree hugging PETA goofballs. From a service and product knowledge standpoint you could roll up cabelas, bass pro, and sportsman's and they still would not come close. For now I will keep going there who knows I may deviously convert a few of them to full on meat eaters. One of my hunting buddies refuses to step foot inside their stores as well. -
In Need of a Good Gunsmith to Build an AR-15
rcdinaz replied to rossislider's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
mehhh! I say find bigger varmints. The guys in the predator masters forum seem to disagree, they seem giddy about the AR15 Grendel. Speer makes a 90gr TNT varmint bullet that would be awesome coyote medicine. Okay I am done hijacking the thread now... -
"If you don't like the dust just put large rocks in the raod to slow the a$$holes down!" Apparently I need to be more devious. This is brilliant and funny!

You can always start with p90x or insanity (or similar) at home after that you will be in shape and can move on to a gym or crossfit. Before anyone blasts the infomercial stuff try it, I made fun of it but it was the only way to get my wife to workout since she would not go to a gym. Anyway it ain't easy and i quit smiling after about 15 minutes into it. Good luck everyone!

I believe this is one of the specialties of the gun smith out at the Rio Solado Range. He has written a book as well but I can't recall his name as I have not been out there in a couple of years. I recall he usually has a waiting list Or at least used to. -
Disappointing Load Results 7mm-08
rcdinaz replied to rossislider's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
4350 is a relatively fast powder nothing like any of the magnum powders. I started using CCI primers last year and prefer them o er federal now also. As for the load work it looks like you know what you are doing so I would focus on a few things. How close can you get to the lands? Please don't attempt to jam the bullet no mfg recommends this for a hunting bullet and my real world experience has taught me this is a bad idea Look up mfg powder recommendations on the bullet mfg charts. Download the burn rate chart from IMR. Pick a powder that is higher and lower; a few up/down the scale and listed in your load data. Look up the load data and avoid any compressed or under loaded powders. If a buddy has something that is on hand try it. Load for the similar MV after testing and see if Powder burn rate has any affect. A lot of work! Most of the time my guns get settled on a certain COAL so all of the powder testing is not necessary. 4350 and RL15 look like the go to powders for most which you already know. It looks like H414 had a bit higher MV on most of the mfg load data I looked at. While you are cursing the whole process remember once you figure it out you can be done forever! At least with that gun! -
New pair of boots wanted for low desert hot hunting
rcdinaz replied to stalkincoues's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Good advice! Go to REI, Cabela's, Bass Pro, Sportsmans, etc try on everything that you think will fit your needs and don't worry about who makes it. After you get a list of which ones fit your foot the best go with the ones that have the most features you are after. I don't buy hunting specific boots anymore, so no more cool camouflage colors. I have bought the last two pairs from REI and could not be happier because they fit. I keep going back to my Asolo boots because they fit my foot the best, are lighter than my others, and have been bomb proof. In the past I would have never wore this kind of boot and I have boots that cost twice as much. After you find your boots order a pair of inserts from Lathrop and Sons and they will morph into super comfortable boots. You can allow a little room in the fit if you will add inserts. Even boots that cost $400 - $500 have pretty crummy insoles with a few exceptions, which is still a mystery to me.
