Im pretty sure now in the state of AZ you have to buy a lic to even apply Yep my bad you have to fill it in to apply (at least on paper). For some reason I was thinking the online draw changed that.
-
I like the idea of the pool for points being made a lot larger. I also wish there were a loyalty point for those who buy a license every year, maybe after 3 years or so. This would help a little against those that only buy the license if they get drawn. Most on this site I am sure are buying a resident combo license every year and supporting the G&F regularly.

I think it is 14 now and never been drawn.

Off the b-line may be kind of tough but down towards Florence and out toward Superior should be pretty easy to find a spot

This was my 1st choice and I didn't get squat... It is a great unit in my opinion. Saw a very nice herd bull in late Jan, he was still running around watching his cows and bugling which was really odd. It is getting to be more of a challenge with more houses but I guess that is the case in a lot of places.

Custom 338 Edge. ABS, McMillan, Jewell + more. 300RUM barrel included
rcdinaz replied to 308Nut's topic in Classified Ads
Wow! Great looking rig but timing is everything. I just paid for a custom that I had waited over a year for or I would be all over this. It looks like you did everything top notch and didn't cut any corners and the ABS barrels themselves did have a crazy long waiting period. Good luck with your sale, someone will get a steal! -
I think you cold go with a savage and find one even a little cheaper.

Best choice for hunting/field sidearm
rcdinaz replied to apache12's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I don't have one but I think the XD's are awesome. I shot my buddies in 9mm, along side my kimber and a Glock and prefer the XD. All based on personal feel and the slick safety features. I have carried my Ruger P85 9mm, Kimber 45, and my 686 (way to heavy). I usually don't carry a pistol not even fishing at the black river. I have been thinking about changing that and have been looking at a compact pistol or an XD. -
Me too while predator hunting even when pig season is not in session.

37 The south corner by oracle or either side of Kelvin rd at the far east side. The problem with Kelvin is there is a ton of activity so you need to park and do some walking into some of the bowls and then glass your eyes out. There is water off most of the roads so the pigs are there just tough to find with the ATV crowd around.

Wow never thought of that! If I start this project that narrows it to the 6.5x284 or 260 RM I guess. Or I guess you could have a customer barrel unmarked and register it as a 270 WSM and use that brass. Good thing to think about!

I want one but bought a Swaro this year so it is going to have to wait. Although I do really like the Swaro!

I don't think the actual brand of bullet (any BT) is the primary concern. What weight bullet, muzzle velocity are you planning on using. From here you can jump on a a number of sites Berger, Vortex, etc and calculate your max range based on energy. It literally takes only about 5 minutes. SST, Ballistic Tips, Sciroccos, etc at the same weight are going to perform virtually the same. You may get a little more out of a Berger, Lapua or other high BC bullet but in 264 it will be pretty close. My guess without all the variables is you will be good to at least 800 yards with the 120-130 everyone is recommending.

There are pigs in the Silver Bells area but they are tough to find due to the houses and mining activity. We had that area 2 years ago and saw pigs right before opening day but never found them after that. We think as soon as they were jumped in the morning they headed for the residential areas.

Hunting boots: what's good and what isn't?
rcdinaz replied to CouesSlayer77's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Meindl are nice and well made and I was a Danner guy for a long time. Since then I have broken down and started buying higher end boots mostly from REI. For a lighter boot the Asolo Fugitives I have worn the last 2 year are the best I have worn and for packing with a moderate to heavy load Zamberlan's have been awesome. I added Lathrop inserts to the Zamberlan's and after a lot of hiking with a pack I may be sore but my feet never are. Go try on a bunch of them on and Cabelas, Bass Pro, and REI find what fits best and has the features you want and ignore the brand as long as it is a quality made boot. Add after market inserts to any boot you get and your feet will be very happy and you will have more stamina. You will be surprised how much better your feet and ankles can feel if you take the time to get things right. Good luck! -
Congratulations! Nothing like a sheep hunt amazing animals.
