Okay I need some ideas on pre-made camp meals. I got chili and green chili, sounds the same but two very different things on goes with cornbread the other with tortillas. I saw some post by chef but whet else do you guys take that everyone is just dying to get back to camp to eat or that you could throw in a pack for an overnighter out in the field. Thanks! If there is a thread on this already please point me int the right direction.

That is awesome, congratulations! I am still looking for one.

Thanks again for another useful thread, didnt know about this one.

Amanda thanks for the thread! I will be adding these to the next menu: Shredded B-B-Q Spaghetti Stew Along with Chili I hvae done the PB&J tortillas as well, works well. I also think I need to buy a smoker, seems smoked meat is a great thing to have for camp. I am also getting tired of cooking ducks the same way all the time. Using vacuum bags and having everything pre-made or at least pre-cut is a great idea from the other thread! Lark I won't be fighting you for the Spam or pork rinds at the store, ALL yours bud!

Thanks for the heads up! I found one of the Minox DCM and ordered it. May still get a camera and adapter if the DCM is too cumbersome to operate for some scenarios. -
That was great! My buddy had a Mule Deer book that had a lot of shots where you would look for the deer. We need one for Coues, great way to help newbies and kids get the hang of what they are looking for.

Great info! This should like a great summer project. Sean has very good info, I switched to H1000 in most of my magnums after watching his reloading videos. I have seem more consistency as he describes out of this powder.

Sitka Mountain Gear? Does anyone recommend it for Coues hunting

I am using the 6000ci Kuiu pack. I will still use the Eberlestock pack for aggressive hikes through brush. It is hard to beat the scabbard on the Eberle and being able to draw the gun quickly in the thick stuff. For long hikes with a lot of gear though the Kuiu is lite and does a great job of keeping the weight on your hips and the thing has about 50 pockets to store stuff. -

Good feedback! I am still going to get one for long range shooting. I think it will be great so that a couple people can watch the targets out to 1,000yds and see the hits and give feedback. My kid has a flip guess I am going to have to hijack it now and try it. -
Great looking deer! Congratulations!

I am really liking the KUIU stuff as well. I used the pack this year and it is solid, very light with the carbon fiber frame. I still have the Eberlestock but for long hikes and over nighters I use the KUIU now. -
Good point!

Glad I don't really drink much soda! Although the make bottled water, energy drinks, and all kind of stuff. If your really want to get to them buy a competitors products, they are all about maintaining market share.

That is a cool little setup. Makes me wish I hadn's sold my little minox spotter! I can see a lot of uses for this with the larger screen, long range shooting sessions more than one person can watch for trace and hits, scouting pics, hunting video, etc. Pricing seems to be about what I would pay for the adapter only from Swaro, impressive. Good find, thanks! -
7MM better ballistics and I am nuetral I have both a 300RUM and a 7mmDakota. If I had to give one up it would be the 300. Or check out the 6.5's as deserthntr suggested, great bullet.
-
I have both! A 6mm as well, just missing the 6.5 and 338... in time...

I agree! Can you guys who hvae already taken on this project post your components list and any advice or info that would help others do a build. Did you buy a complete rifle and take the action only to do the build orwere you able to find just an action for a reasonable price? I am thinking about taking on this project for next year as well. Both the guns showns look great!

I was going to ask the same question but it looks like no one chimed in? I have done a fair amount of reading and it sounds like there are a lot of recommendations for the Nikon Coolpix, versions with low zoom to avoid vignette from the zoom. Swaro does have a page of cameras they recommend on their site but I think it is very dated. -
I ran that with 100 yd zero in Shooter. 100 yd - 0 200 yd - -2.8 300 yd - -10.5 400 yd - -23.6 This is what I show for the load ignoring atmospheric conditions adjustments. Your info looks close you may be about 50fps faster than what I showed at 3,000fps with a 300 yd zero.

Not sure what powder charge you are using but asumming 80gr from the books you would be right at 3,000fps give or take 50fps. This looks like it matches up with the numbers you posted. From Shooter for Android 500yds - -42.9 (I think you transposed your numbers) 600yds - -69.4 700yds - -103.7 800yds - -147 I would test this at the range for sure as my 300 RUM seems to get a little more speed out of some powders than others compared to what is published. I also think this load looks light a lot of case capacity left so H1000 or Retumbo will probably get you more velocity. My RUM is more consistent with the H1000 but a little less velocity than Retumbo. With the 180gr bullets I was at 3,200 to 3,250FPS. Remington's Power Level ammo using the 180gr sciroccos also shows 3,250FPS which should be an almost identical bullet ballistically to the NBT. http://www.remington.com/products/ammunition/centerfire/power-level/power-level.aspx

I don't clean my rifles during hunting season. To be clear I don't clean the barrel down to bare metal I will clean up the action and check the barrel after I am out, no solvents. I also agree that there seems to be less variability in custom barrels. Of course as pointed out a lot of this could be in my head since I have not done any real statistical analysis on % change, in velocity, POI, etc to see how much each rifle changes. Maybe I just expect hope that a $400-$500 barrel will shoot better.

Well Done!
