    18b one more weekend!

Havasuhunter you might want to check out 17b as well. Take hwy 93 to the 97 Bagdad turnoff then right on 96 toward Hillside. There are few areas before Hillside to get off the road. We have hunted 17b several times & usually do pretty good. If you have a quad or side by side you can get way back in along sycamore river & glass the basins & you should be able to find javelina. The area has been hit by coyotes & lions, but there are still good pockets with javis. Good luck hope you get one. I will be heading to my dads in Havasu to pick my javi sausage up I had Casey's in flag make jalepeno cheddar sausage.

    The streak continues . . .

I archery hunted javis for the first time in 2006. My dad & other hunting buddies had told me about all the javis they had seen the prior 2 years hunting this area. I think awesome this should be a great hunt with lots of action! As luck would have it we saw 1 javi in 5 days of tough hunting, and after my 3rd shot finally drilled him. I was hooked from that point on. I have hunted them ever since with very little success until opening day of this year finally got lucky again and sealed the deal half mile out of camp. Archery javelina has got to be one of my favorites hunts every year even if I eat tag soup. I guess what I'm trying to say is stick with it sooner or later it will happen. I know cuz I am one of the most unlucky guys when it comes to hunting I put in the hours scouting, hiking, glassing, and usually come up short. I wouldn't trade one minute of it either!!!!!!!

    got it done opening day

Had an awesome hunt with my dad & cousin. After taking 12 hours to get from Havasu to our hunting area in unit 8 we were exhausted. We got stuck in the snow storm Wednesday on I 40 what a cluster. Opening morning greeted us with snow still coming down so we decided to hang out in camp & have coffee & breakfast. Around 10:30 the snow had let up & the sun came out we headed out of camp on the ranger hadn't even gone 300 yards jumped some pigs & of course we were not ready so they got away. We started laughing and headed up the road about a half mile & jumped a small herd this time I was ready and shot a nice female at 18 yards. My cousin came in late Thursday afternoon so we took him to where I shot my pig & glassed the area spotted a couple of bucks running together so went after them, but couldn't find in the brush. We headed back toward camp & jumped some piggies, but my cousin couldn't get set up. Saturday found a couple of bruisers for my cousin but he couldn't seal the deal. My dad being in his seventies decided he would rather chaufer us around than hike so he wasn't able to get any shots off. Had an awesome time & will be heading back before the season closes to try & fill my dads pig tag & deer for me. I had my dad take pictures with my phone & after I skinned out my pig I went to look at the pictures only to realize he had erased them by accident otherwise I would post them up. Still had a great time & plenty of memories.

    Unit 8 question

Hey guys just wondering how crowded 8 gets for the archery hunt? We hunt 8 for deer & elk, but never for javelina. Thought we would try a new unit. Not asking where the pigs are just how much pressure the area gets this time of year so we know what to expect. Thanks in advance for any input.

    Draw Report Question

My father is a resident & I am a nonresident we never apply together for the simple fact I don't want to ruin his odds. We do apply for the same units in the same order, and a few times he has drawn his first choice & I drew my second choice. Than we make a decision to either hunt solo or one of us turns our tag in, and we go together.

    Vortex Vultures 15x56 HD's

I own the vultures and I think they are great!! I did a lot of researching on the 15x56. The swaros are without a doubt the best, but I couldn't afford them! I compared them side by side with the kaibabs, and for me the vultures were better. They fit my eyes better, and focused better IMO. Bottom line for me was I purchased what worked for me not what someone else recommended, and what was in my budget!! I do not regret the vultures one bit, and have used them several times for long glassing sessions. You can't beat Vortex warranty and the vultures are great for a guy who doesn't want to take out a loan to by binos!! Everyones eyes are different get what works best for you!!! Just my 2 cents.
