Congrats! Different game with kids. I bet these deer are a little smaller than your deer back home but way easier to haul out!

Yes, Cranes are not waterfowl so the non-toxic does not apply. Note that you may have to show the regs to the FWS guy -- really uninformed. HOWEVER, if you do have geese come into your decoys and you want to blast away, you could only have non-toxic in the blind. That heavi-shot is great and greatly expensive! "Only need three shots" ... that is humorous!

This a terribly equipment intensive sport. You may want to contact Josh Gertsch and Nash Clark with Fur2Feathers. They may cut you a deal seeing that a junior is involved. They are great guys and I am sure they may want to encourage our youth to start hunting. It can be a really discouraging hunt unless you know what you are doing. These two guys REALLY know what they are doing.

The end is inevitable. 79 is a good run and I am doubtful of that long for me. We have three garages full of junk -- one for each kid. My son says he is just going to burn his. He is the one that has not given us grandkids so he gets the crappy garage mostly full of my parents old schtuff that we have not dealt with in 25+ years. None have stuff of significant value. I figure it is payback for the grief they have caused, for moving away and for never calling us! Maybe someday we will get organized. I enjoy/respect/cogitate over your input and have enjoyed your articles and pictures for decades.
