BTW: all the deer I was watching merely stood still and looked towards the moving vehicles -- did not spook. Now if the guys got out of the vehicles, that is a different story! Let them drive through. But to go in on a dead end road when you pass two parked vehicles? That may be justifiable homicide!

I agree with Amanda that I would not have been out their waving my arms and essentially drawing their fire. They are looking for movement in their scope just after shooting at a deer. You are lucky you didn't get shot. I'm not sure they broke any laws (by pointing a rifle) as I don't think they knew you were there. 2-track is not a road. What they did was stupid and unethical for sure. I had an experience in 32 where this guy (maybe on this site), a self-proclaimed 1000 RD shooter, unloaded 2 rifles from the back of his truck off the top of the cab (in front of his kids), which is illegal. He wounded a huge mule deer and lost it. We saw it several days later at dawn but couldn't close the deal. Their whole party routinely road hunts which we observed again this year but that is hard to prove. He wasted our tax dollars with 3 trips to court and then plead out for a measly $462 with no loss of privileges. We encountered the guys again this year when they ran a nice buck to wards me but gave up the chase, maybe because they saw me or knew I was there or they didn't know which way to go. We blew the stalk, anyway. I must prefer to inherently be a nonconsumptive wildlife user. They did take a buck on the last day of the hunt 5 minutes after driving out of camp in an open jeep/thing. I cound not see them shoot this time or they would be in court again but you judge for yourself if they were road hunting. I certainly understand your frustration.

I call Chris every year and ask where to put in: this year it was 37B. He had a huge one found in there. Congrats to your Dad. Max bonus pts and counting for me!

Are You Crazy Enough To Run After A Mt. Lion ;)
Big Tub replied to Buck Smasher's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I wanted to see Amanda release that lion! I did have a "Javi walk within 8 ft of me. I was seated and pouting in the rain. It did one litte woof, walked down the hill and started feeding. I accidentally launched an arrow up into the air trying to clear my sweatshirt out of the way. Really humbling and I never found the arrow and went back 3 times. I did take a pig in the same area days later. -
I found a dead snake yesterday in our garden. This medium size king snake tried to eat a rather large lizard and apparatly it got stuck on the way in. Scared the whop out of my wife. Shouldn't get greedy!

"191 between Morenci and Alpine is one of the most beautiful routes in the state, but not the best for a trailer or for making time" NOT THE BEST FOR A TRAILER????????????? That is a tremendous understatement! I will ammend my comments to DO NOT GO THIS WAY WITH A TRAILER. Note that I grew up in Morenci.

We go from Tucson to Eagar a lot and I don't think there is a "good" way. For us, we just bite the bullet and go via Tucson-Globe-Show Low-Hon Dah-Eagar. However, we just try to go on weekdays at non-peak hours and expect to be slow. Also we don't let the tires get older than about 4-6 years. My sister lives on the east side of Tucson and goes I-10 to Willcox-Safford-Mule Creek-Gleenwood-Luna-Alpine-Nutrioso. It is about an hour longer and maybe a few less up-and-downs but has some narrow section (don't get a flat).

My son put in for sheep and lope from 10 till 17 (my money of course) and then blew off putting in after that and flushed those bonus points for not getting drawn and the loyalty pts. GEEZ I was ticked. Now that he is out of college at least he is going deer hunting with me again! He better start paying for his own license and tag, though!

I tried out the new Serta matress all last week ==> IT WAS GREAT !
-
I hate to go on history: not drawn not drawn not drawn not drawn I wonder what would be next? It is interesting the spring draw is first of the week. It seems like the big draws are usually F after hours. The spring draw does not seem to get nearly as much interest.

So have you heard anything?

A brand new Serta Perfect Sleeper in my campb trailer! Too late!

That is pretty neat. You sure are fortunate that your honey lets you get away with stuff like this!

Be sure to contact the local law enforcement in case somebody turned it in.

That is going to be a tough start because it will be awfully tough to beat next time.

I guess if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it? -
Here is my older dog Maverick (lion pose) and here is my younger dog, Rusty: I can't believe there are not more posts since mine! C'mon people!

Shane helped my son out 2 different years many moons ago. I just hope he realizes what he got to experience was something really special -- including a 7x9 at 15 yards bellowing his lungs out and then to take a cow on both hunts. Thanks, Shane!

I see you let them take the first deer they saw! Good to see you still working with young hunter and bringing them into the brotherhood.
