Good catch. I'll get in there and change it. I copied all the content from the old site, which was awful, so it's been an uphill battle working this thing out. I've been doing graphic and web design for the past 10 years or so. Glad you guys like it.

Well I've been working with Duwane Adams to redesign his website and give it a cleaner, more modern feel. It's finally completed and we couldn't be happier in the way it turned out. Duwane is a great guide and overall guy and I'm glad I could help him out with this. Please check it out! www.arizonabiggamehunting.com

Holy crap. If the others made this one look like a baby, I'm jealous! ha.Great job.

If he's NOT hunting, he cannot carry. Sidearm or rifle. Have him carry some binos and stick close.

That is AWESOME! Congrats!

The past couple years I've gone to the ADA Deer Clinic where they've done different shooting things, glassing setup with the Vortex rep, and a bunch of speakers. I don't see that they're doing it this year. Does anyone know anything?

I have a younger cousin who is just getting into hunting and looking for a .308. If anyone has one they're looking to unload, let me know. I think he's got a pretty tight budget (16 year old working in fast food). Thanks guys!
-
Ok ok I'll give you that. Ha.
-
For some reason he's stuck on a .308. Not sure why. Thanks for the offers though guys. I'll keep looking.

I have to take a minute and say that this is the reason I love our hunting community. Stories are started with things like "This story is about a bull that the Lord truely blessed me with this year". Also, you have signatures such as; "Don't blame me, I voted Republican", and "The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else." Amazing group of people!

Curtis, thanks for the offer. I think he's trying to stay under $300. Coueser4, good idea. I've heard good things about those rifles too. I'll have him look into it.

Awesome buck! That's great you were able to get her lined up to hunt in NM. Definitely keeping your family in our prayers.

So I've been hunting down in 36b the last couple years and have talked to some other hunters down there who claim there are a lot of lions down in that unit. I was thinking about picking up a tag this year so I can be on the lookout and maybe bag one if the opportunity arrises. Anybody here ever see any lions down there? I've been thinking about checking out the heck's Gate area this year, or maybe I'll stay south of Ruby.

Amazing bull. Congrats to your dad on a successful hunt.

As a mechanical engineering student, I've recently learned about the science of optics and feel as though I can produce a high quality binocular that will rival the best in the business. With that in mind, I'm looking at starting this venture with 2-3 sizes to start. I'm wondering if you were to choose your top two favorite power/size binoculars, what would they be? For me, I'm thinking 15x56 and 10x42.

+1 as well

What's your favorite binocular power/size?

Ha. You make it seem like I'm planning to brew up some home made binoculars or something. In reality, I've developed specific formulas and lens specifications that should rival top brands. I'm not saying it will be better, but I'm hoping it will. I've been working with some of the higher end lens manufacturers overseas to develop my glass, I've also been working with some other manufacturers that have experience in putting the pieces together per se. I've been working with a team of engineers here in town for the lenses, CAD drawings, forms, and housing designs. Do I have an advantage over any of the current players in the market? No. But I have an idea, I've located the top sources for the materials, I've come up with some solid specifics on how to improve already quality products, and I'm thinking I can produce a quality product. I'm hoping to have a prototype put together in the next month or two. I'll keep you guys posted as this thing progresses. Who knows, maybe one day I'll sponsor the site and offer discounts to members. -
What's your favorite binocular power/size?
kazpilot25 replied to kazpilot25's topic in Optics and tripods
So what I'm getting is that the two most popular sizes are 10x42 and 15x56. Seems like starting there and then branching out to 8x42 and 12x50 might be the best option. Seems like the major factors are clarity, weight, and comfort. What about ergonomics? How they feel in your hand? I know the 15x56 doesn't really matter since they'll be on a tripod, but on the 10x42's it might make a difference. -

Also, what's most important to you in binoculars? Besides clarity of course. -
So over the weekend I went down and scouted unit 36B for the early rifle hunt. I know it was opening weekend for archery, but it was the only time I had to get down there for the next month. To my surprise, I saw only one truck down there with 2 archery hunters. Is it pretty normal for 36B to be dead for the early archery hunt? As for the scouting trip... I saw between 15 deer total. I'd say there were probably 10-12 doe, a couple forks, and one MASSIVE buck. I took Duwane Adams' glassing class a couple weeks ago and have been itching to put what I learned to use. Before this scouting trip I was never able to glass up a bedded deer, or really any deer unless it was early in the AM and they were close. Well, this trip proved to be different. I glassed up a bedded buck at 1000 yards sitting under a tree at around 9:30am. I glassed up a couple doe that were bedded under trees between 700-1000 yards. Then on the way out, we made one last stop (to pee), and I figured I'd glass while I we were there. I glassed up the biggest buck I've ever seen at about 850 yards bedded under a tree in the shadow. He was a perfect typical 5x5 plus eye guards in full velvet. It was BEAUTIFUL! I watched him for about 30 minutes before he bedded back down and out of site. It was amazing to me how he literally disappeared when he bedded down the second time. He laid down in the grass in the shadow of a tree and his entire body disappeared. I could only see a small point on his antler. With such little pressure in there for the archery hunt, I expect him to still be in there come my hunt. I am planning on going back out to try and find him again before the hunt. I was wondering if you guys think he'll still be in the same general area? I figure he should be as everything I've ever read says that they have about a 1 mile home range. Seems pretty big in the scheme of things, but as far as finding him again... Any suggestions? Also, while down there we were checking out an area that was just about 3/4 mile north of the border and we were in some areas that seemed remote. I was wondering if I were to encounter some smugglers down there, like actually be spotted, would they try to avoid the situation? I'm just wondering because it seems like they could easily snag someone up or shoot you in that area and nobody would ever know. What's the best way to deal with that situation? I am always carrying a loaded sidearm, but just wondering.

Great binos. I had a pair and loved them. -
I haven't seen one yet... But I'd sure love to. I'm like you guys, I want to shoot one!
-
I heard you guys were going down there for the middle hunt. When we going scouting? Let's head down in the next couple weeks. We've got a couple cameras to check (if they're still there).

Sounds great. I'll have to try that should I tag out.
