  1. There's a covey of quail that hang out by the dam at zuni reservoir near St Johns. I never looked close I just thought they were gambles. I have shot 3 different type of quail down on the blue river road. I assumed they were gambles, mearns and scaled.

    Favorite Find

I found a few old cork whiskey bottles way back in the blue wilderness. It seemed like every peak a mile back has old bottles and cans from the old time deer hunters. I'm not sure they were sober or just warming up a little.

    20b Junior Javelina

I don't know the unit but look for high ground that you can see as many slopes that the sun hits first from the same spot. It will be cold most likely and they like their sun.

    Fog

I really miss that area, great pics.
  8. I have seen both outfitters and regular guys try the road blocking thing, tank blocking, ect. I have guided in new mexico years ago. I have worked with guys I have a lot of respect for and I have also worked with guys that I would not work around again as I felt they pushed the lines of fair chase. I also have the same list with regular guys I have hunted with . There are guys I will just not take or hunt around as I feel they stretch what I believe is right or wrong. As for working outfitters that I have talked to quit posting on here as they get roasted by the anti guide crowd no matter their opinion.

    Tactic advice

Wait until you have bad weather that has a solid wind in 1 direction. Then go up wind to him. The wind will kill your noise and not flip direction as the weather is driving wind direction.

There's a lot worse problems in this world than this. I guess it's all about perspective.

Arizona Unit 27 January Mule Deer

That is some good stuff you mentioned on both sides of the river.
  20. I don't mind them wanting to make money but when it includes checkerboard lands the access issues should not allow complete closer. If it was all deeded land I could care less what they do with it. The ranch could also be shooting themselves in the foot if they shut down basic access they are gambling that some super rich folks will draw tags every year that will pay high access fees. On years when the draw does not favor their clients they will not make much money.

    Rocky Mountain MD in AZ

Deer can get big anywhere in the state. It takes age, feed and moisture to get big. If deer find a spot with good moisture and feed and can grow old they have the chance to get some size and mass. Look at when the rains hit last year and how good the growth has been this year.

    Do you know your birds?

I don't know but that would make an awesome pattern for a camo outfit.

Legal method of take Limited Weapon-Shotgun Shooting Shot Hunt: Any shotgun shooting shot as prescribed in R12-4-318 or crossbow or bow and arrow as prescribed in R12-4-304. Archery-Only Hunt: Bow and arrow as prescribed in R12-4-304 and R12-4- 318 and/or crossbow as allowed under R12-4-216. Centerfire rifles, muzzleloading rifles and handguns are no longer legal methods of take. There are numerous muzzleloading shotguns on the market. They are not muzzzle loading rifles. You have more slug choices for a reg shotgun than a muzzle loader shotgun does to be able to shoot a solid bullet.

I have a 12ga muzzle loader. I have killed turkey's in AZ and NM with it. Game wardens love it, I have been checked in both states and they thought it was cool that someone was hunting with a muzzl loader shotgun.
