My brother and myself hit it hard fri and sat. We found 13 elk 9 old and 4 fresh. We also saw around 40 bulls and all had dropped but 1 small 6pt. We are already seeing alot of growth. any 27 turkey hopefulls

My boy found this set this morning.

A friend of mine that runs our inmate fire crew said he saw crews bringing in horns at most fires he was at. Most of them were found as they hiked in and out from the fire.

Just make everyone that wants to hunt archery put in for a archery tag on the spring draw for the next year. No left over tags, you either archery hunt or not. This way if your an archery hunter you still get your tag and doesn't change where you can hunt or the season dates.

The prisoners are contracted thru az correction industries (aci) to do data input of the paper apps and have done so for years. There are many aci jobs in our prison system.

That picture with the snow falling is awesome. Great job on the snow pig.

I finally scored on a Jan muley. First light on friday I shot a 4 x 3 muley and on sat I shot a pig about 2 hrs after my partner got his pig. It was cold but well worth it. The pigs were no where to be found until 1 pm and then it seemed like we could glass any where and find a herd. The mule deer were rutting hard and we saw many quality bucks on friday and saturday. I will post pictures as soon as I can load some up.

We have fresh scrapes by my tree stand in unit 22 and have also seen srapes in unit 27.

I figure this is punishment for last year when the archers didn't like there november hunt idea. Last year they were after more oppurtunity for archers and since we didn't like their ideas we will now pay for it by less archery oppurtunity.

scouting is scouting. Randy Ulmer has earned his rep by doing what it takes after getting within range of his target. I'm sure the ethics police, if really scrutinized would find all their methods do not fit everyone elses either.

You can make that noise by popping your finger out of the side of your mouth. I have used it before when bulls are really close and hung up without a shot.

Learn to shoot from your knees. Elk are way more forgiving to something low profile than to you standing up. Also if were your hunting has long ridges with side draws be on top of the rigde well before daylight. When the herd bull lines out his cows to push them up to bed, get to the top of the draw he's coming up. They will useally walk right past you without having to call much at all.

We left flag friday around 2 pm and it poured all the way to the top of the rim above strawberry. It has also been drenching eagar off and on for the last 4 days. We got some real drenchers around lyman lake today as well. It is finally looking green out on these flats.

If you can not afford it up front you can't afford it later either. Same sacrifices just backwards you have to pay for it one way or another.

My goof coosefan I read your post a few pages ago and didn't realize you qouted someone else that had said they forgot their liscense numbers. I was just trying to let you know you can request a photo copy of a paper application. I screwed up my wifes app a few years ago and swore up and down that I had not. She contacted the draw office and they sent us a copy of her app which I had screwed up on. Tranposed the wrong hunt numbers and she got a cow tag when all she wanted was bull choices.

I believe the bonus points started in 90 so it should be 16 yrs counting this draw and the other 2 points. It should equal 18 as max for next years draw. ( if I'm right about when they started)

The bonus points still mean exactly what they were prior to giving out the loyalty point. If everyone got 1 then the whole system just moved 1 point. However I know several people who had missed a year for 1 reason or other and did not get the point. That put some people ahead of others if they were tied before. It seems around here as guys get closer to max they all start putting in for the early rifle bull hunts so they take the max pool higher than available tags. AZ has what alot of people call fringe units. I think if a guy puts in the time, every unit in this state has the ability to put out huge bulls. I kinda like when everyone puts in for units 1,27,8,9 and 10 it leaves tags almost every year for the ones that hunt the sucky units. The move to archery bull in nov would have made for some excellant hunting if people wanted to actually hunt, but most people don't know how to hunt the bulls after they stop responding to calls or running around chasing cows. The big bulls do not leave the units, they just become less hunter friendly. And if you don't think I'm right about people not knowing how to hunt the bulls if their not talking look at hunter success during years when the elk are not that vocal during the rut. I am not trying to stir the pot either this is just my most humble opionon on how the nov hunt would have increased hunter opputunity.
