21 hours ago, CatfishKev said:Well, mutiple arrows. My buddies found him on the rifle hunt but killed a didferent buck last hours of last days. Even though i was with them for the majority of the hunt i never personally saw him. I only knew he was there because they told me.
Stalked to 20 yards and waited for him to take 2 steps from behind a bush. Well the doe he was on made a beeline to me and i knew she was gonna bust me so i drew back and stood up, only had a front shot so i took it. He fell forward and laid down while i scrambled to knock one of my last 2 arrows. He jumped up and started to trot around me and i tried to lead him an let the next arrow go. That one ended up in his hind quarter went through the opposite quarter and broke his femur. He was trotting and stopping so i had a perfext broadside shot and i took one more st him with my emergency arrow that jad a damaged vane. Well i shouda ranged him again but i didnt, it him him and he dropped straight down and i thought that was it. Well it wasnt... when i got back to him he jumped up again. At this point i freaked out a bit and decided to go to where he last stood and walk the blood trail backward to find one of my arrows to finish him off. Once i did both arrows nocks were broken so i had to use my leatherman to make a makeshift nock. Snuck back up and double lunged him and watched him expire. I felt bad for the poor guy and im very thankful i was able to finish him without him suffering too long. Buck fever is real man, im not a peffect archer at all bit i absolutely love archery. If i didnt get all jacked up on adrenaline whenever im close to letting an arrow fly i would probably quit hunting.
We're going to be expecting a youtube video on how to do makeshift nock repair using Leatherman tool. 😁

I think the stock has been mislabeled. It looks like a type C stock, not an S. As I recall, type S (scant) has a straight grip? Pretty neat to find an 03, not an 03-A3.

Hey Kev, if you let that new puppy ride in your skivvies every day, by the time he is 30# it will seem like the most natural thing in the world. Might need a new belt and some pants though😊

Looks like a 9 y.o. Hard to tell without a closer look though. Great ram, no matter which unit he came out of. Did this unit receive transplant stock, or is it an historical population?

Ha. I know where that is. Very nice bull. And perfect pose too! As you probably know, it is very rare to find a bull of that caliber on public land in CO.

Might not be a bad idea to send that photo to the AZGFD veterinarian. There seems to be something wrong with the hard outer layer of hoof-like material that should be on the outside of those hooves and dewclaws. I know we don't have CWD, but there could be some deficiency in the diet that is reducing formation of the horny fingernail-like material that should be on the hooves of a normal critter. Those are really strange dewclaws. That was a super nice buck though.

I have been on several sheep captures both NV and AZ. They normally don't bother with class IV rams.
Suspect they were trying for (hopefully) pregnant ewes to add some new members to the Harcuvars.

It was my fathers rifle and we grew in a swamp cooler environment. I’m not sure how many rounds he had through it? Just a hunting rifle that didn’t get shot that much so doubtfully shot out. I had it bore scoped and the barrel was pitted pretty bad in places so my gunsmith was thinking possibly the powder residue inside absorbed moisture and rusted internally. I’ve had it restocked, bedded, and Cerekoted. Need to have it re-barreled, and get a smaller scope for it.
Gotcha. Another thing to consider (doesn't mean it will work) is snipping one coil off the extractor spring. If it is really throwing cases, possibly a little weaker grip on the rim might give you enough clearance but still keep positive extraction. I don't know if it would be possible to do a little light grinding on the ejector which might change the angle the cases are following. Sounds like your plan should make the problem go away.
Nice rifle. Set up right. Bet it is a long-range hammer with a good barrel.

I was thinking why not just remove the windage knob and use the hash marks for hold-off. But with 2fp you can only do that at highest power for true MOA hold.
Nice scope however. You must be in shape to lug that outfit up and down the hills. Did you shoot the barrel out on your Sako? How many rounds did that take?

Final price drop - $9,4,00.00 and you provide mattress (designed for queen size, but we have been using full for a little more room).
Guys keep in mind that on a fully-guided hunt, you can save a TON of $$ if you provide your own accommodations and grub. And the guide will appreciate a break from the client!
This includes WDH and RV cover.
