Most load books will tell you what powder worked the best for there bullets. I reload Hornandy bullets and out of the five that I have worked up loads for what powder worked best for them worked best for my guns. Looking at what you want to load for not sure if one powder will work more then one. I load for .270, 25-06, 22-250, 30-06, and 300 win. I only need three powders. I would say get the load books for what bullets you wanna load and look for the powders there. The lee trimers don't cost much and don't take much to trim the case down

And put a cotton ball in the end to protect the bullet tip. +1 on the puller. Never tnought about the cotton ball I have tossed out close to 12 bullets

I started reloadimg just about 2 years ago. My dad wanted me to start reloading so he bought me the RCBS starter kit it had almost everything needed. I have also added a RCBS trickler, Lee case trimers (only because they are cheeper then an elect. one) a hornandy mic. ,case tumbler, one shot spray lube. What I found to help is read some books but then have someone show you how.

In Tucson by the park place mall there is a savers they almost always have some kind of camo in all sizes. I have found some good deals for my kids and some for me as well. $3-$15 bucks.

Which rifle for a youth hunter?
sherman replied to SteveKDC's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Trust me I am not an expert and don't know much about the 7mm-08. I know it is a necked down .308 where 25-06 is a necked down 30-06. The 7mm-08 runs like 140 gr bullet where the biggest for the 25-06 is 120 gr. The drop on the 25-06 is just about the same as the .270. not sure about the 7mm-08 but you could google it. What I like about the 25-06 is you can use it from varments to elk. Realy no felt recoil -
Any trades

Which rifle for a youth hunter?
sherman replied to SteveKDC's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
IMO the 25-06 has the same recoil as the .243. I even gave my friends son that had only shot his .243 and he said the same thing about the same or a little less for him. I also shoot hand laods and it will kill deer out to 600 yards with the right hold over. IMO it is a better all around cal then the .243 if you live close to me i will be more then happy to go out with you and let you try it. My .02 is it is an AWSOME cal. let me know if I can help -

The 25/06 is what I started my daughter on I also own one and that is my go to even over my .270 if you can shoot one they are flat shooting and drop anything in it tracks. I didn't put high end scope on it. Because they are kids and will drop them slip and fall so I put good but not a vx3 like what I got. You can always up grade later. But really look at a 25/06 sportsman has them for $450 with scope but a Remington -
Is it that you can't find h4831 if so try gun shops in tucson found powder at Murphy's
-
I like 22-250 and the 25-06 just denpends on how long the shot is.

I have seen many show where they are using howls. I have used them and got a reply but i think i get to over the top with calling after that or dont wait long enuff

I have always been told that the only season that you counot was elk. But dont no for sure about that. Now I have been checked by GF while a deer hunt was going on and I filled my deer tag I told him all I had was a lion tag he said let me see it no problems. If any thing look at the ars

I am the same baot as you are but I have baught 3 e callers and probley $200 0r $300 in hand calls. I think I dont wait long enuff. Can't wait to see where this goes. And I am out where I don't think it has been called that much. I would trade all the dogs in Az for a Mt. lion even if you saw it first that is good calling

When I shot factory ammo I used good old Remington core lock never had one walk away and the .270 works best with 130gr IMO that is the best load with our breaking the bank. But now that I reload I use 130 gr sat awesome little bullet

On the news I saw a part of an interview and I feel that he liked helping his fellow man. He put so much on the line and was respected by all. I read the book and didn't feel like he enjoyed it like we would think.
