Fellow hunting site, thearizonahunter.com , is sponsoring a dove shoot near Wickenberg Sept 4. The goal is to raise funds for the junior deer camp. Each .com site can put together teams for a friendly competition. Cabelas has donated a trophy. Also, there is a Poker tourney Friday night. I do not know if some guys put a cwt team together last year. Have not heard of one yet this year. Is anyone interested in doing so? -
Took a drive Sunday afternoon and this group with a single buck was west of Flag.

Pine Donkey, The best to learn how to judge antelope would be Grimmetts video "Size is Everything" Those antelope moved to the back side of the ridge, so that is the best photo of the buck I got.

Spring turkey, javelina, buffalo & bear hunts set
Red Rabbit replied to Outdoor Writer's topic in Other Big Game
The OTC spring archery turkey tags are interesting. I also read on AZGFD about the lifting of the slot limit at Roosevelt. -
The other guy must be doing his legwork to find a place out of the way on public ground. The cam doesn't mean he will hunt it, nor have you said that you will be definitely hunting it. Freshen it up, hang your cam and maybe you will meet another good guy. A friendly note cannot hurt.

I recently spent a week in the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado photographing the wildflower bloom, peaks, and streams. Spent time planting the tripod in the Sneffels range, Clear Lake, Yankee Boy Basin and American Basin near Ouray and Silverton. Here are some of the photos and a link to many others in the San Juan gallery in the Landscape section of photos. http://dougkoepsel.smugmug.com/Landscapes/...957608143_LuvG8 Doug~RR

Tim, I would like to enter also. Doug

I have already revised the guidelines and sent them to Amanda.

AO I have not. I have seen some others' photos of Porphyry, and it does look nice. I have not driven around Ouray/Silverton since 1994. I have a lwb full-size 4wd pickup, so I cannot do all of the trails. When I return from a WY antelope hunt and drive back through, hopefully the aspens near Dallas Divide will be peaking. Doug

Nick, I would not use the factory ammo ballistc numbers or reloading manual numbers. Find someone with a good chronograph. I am suprised that they do not ask for scope height above bore (at least I did not see it on the Leupold site).

Nice double rainbow. Guess we now know where that leprichan nontypical coues is located
-
JB, looks like the 4th from L may be the same bull as in #2
-
So that's where the Kachina bulls went. Nice eye candy for the tagholders.
-
Nick, From the mounts I have seen and own, I would recommend TR Taxidermy in Flag for Antelope and Sheep. You should also consider Henry Aguilar in Kingman for your bighorn. Since your lifesize sheep mount will be an expense and a lifetime treasure, I would go see mounts in each prospective taxidermist's shop and ask for recent clients so you may look at theirs also. Congrats on your tags and wish you the best of enjoyment on your hunts. Doug~RR

Bullet defying gravity?
Red Rabbit replied to raisedin32's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
With a 100 yard zero, you should be closer to 1" low at 200yds. (doucle check your program) Double check your 100 yard zero group. Are you shooting off the same bench rest at 100 and 200? Maybe your scope went TU. Double check screw tightness for rings, base, action. -
Mule deer hunter has a choice to make.....

With 3 weeks, you might consider hunting elk in Colorado. -
Often the tripod rating means the weight of camera and lens it can support without vibration that ruins images, and is not the max load bearing capacity of the tripod before it collapses.

looks like the same antler tops as some of the bulls that have been taken in 11m.

I spent last week near timberline in the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado. The main purpose of the venture was to photograph the wildflowers in the alpine basins. Here are a few critters to view as I process the landscapes. Marmot Mountain Mouse Pika Rock Rabbit Sounding the Warning Cry Momma Carp Doug~RR
