It's been several years since I have been to Tick Flat. Keep the food and trash locked in the vehicle when gone during the day and when sleeping. No food in the tents. You'll probably se fresh trax through camp in the morning and plenty of overturned rocks along the river during the day. Hike an hour before starting to fish. Had the most fun by flyrodding a popper or grasshopper. If spinfishing, we used a 3" black mr. twister grub, or small crayfish crankbait. Have fun.

Suprised that the Tucson contingent has not mentioned UA softball being in the finals. http://www.azcentral.com/sports/ua/article...all-finals.html

Amanda, A neighbor came home with several pike a few weeks ago from Upper Lake Mary. He fried up the strip filets and it was excellent white meat, firm and not fishy tasting- much better than trout or bass. He pickled the bony section and it too was great. Stayed firm and the bones dissolved. I am sure we ate our lifetime mercury quota that evening. Doug~RR

Ernesto, Sorry that you had to take a bite of life's schitt sandwich. Might put up a few trail cams with IR flash. Doug~RR

Joel at CameraLand has the Promaster SystemPRO T525P Carbon Fiber Tripod that looks to be sturdy, compact and light. Not tall enough to stand behind, but great for sitting. http://www.cameralandny.com/tripods/promas...rsystemprot525p Tony Bynum, noted wildlife photographer, just wrote a nice review of the tripod on MM. http://www.monstermuleys.info/dcforum/DCForumID21/3336.html

The Colorado elk and deer draw results are posted. Still waiting for Wyoming antelope results (end of June) as it is the only out-of-state app for me.

With the full moon rising right before the sunset, I headed for a few nights to a canyon whose sand and claystone features included red-capped spires and ridges. Quite an interesting place to walk around with camera in hand. Child of the Moon. The formation is often called Mother and Child. The evening shadows were fast approaching as the moon rose above the horizon Morning's Light with Pink Clouds Sunrise's First Light on the Ridge Barber Shop Pole? This Velbon might not break the bank for a tall tripod. For the necessary height, you might have to sacrifice some lightweight chararcteristics to get the stiffness. http://www.adorama.com/Als/ProductPage/VNN....html#TechSpecs This Flashpoint should work with extending the center column a little http://www.adorama.com/Als/ProductPage/FPT....html#TechSpecs Jim White has a panning adapter yu might find useful for under the pistol grip http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/tr...ripod_heads.htm

Besides the crawdads, some also credit the cattle for stomping and denuding the shoreline also causing the muddy water. Noticed on the G&F stocking report that they are feeding the Ashurst pike with 6580 stocked rainbows.

I have made a couple and like one for going down steep slopes. I have put some tennis grip tape on the staff at elbow level for added grip and comfort. I suspect these have been around since before Mr Doyle, since before even Moses

New rifle build...thoughts / opinions
Red Rabbit replied to azelkhunter2's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I would think that you would want to rebarrel the Lazz also while you are making the Edge. -
Just a heads up that REI will be having their anniversary sale May 21-31. and the Garmin 60CSx is on sale for $199.99 Great price, but leads on to wonder if Garmin is coming out with a new model.

Well the time has come, I will have my very own...
Red Rabbit replied to Browning'sCustomMeat's topic in Classified Ads
Jeremy, What kind of meats will you be cutting? Will you include domestic and game processing? Will you be custom cutting or will you have a meat counter also for one to buy a few NY strips? Will the focus be on custom cutting, game processing, or a meat counter? Good Luck and success to your business venture. Doug~RR -
Looks like the pike's high protein trout diet had results.

I would look at fabric (weight/warmth, stretch, wicking/drying) and fit more than camo pattern. For rifle hunting, I think that even solids in tan/olive/greay should work well. I am tending toward the stretchy softshell fabrics for climbers and hikers, or similar fabric in camo from Sitka or Russell APXg2. I like the Cabelas Microtex in Outfitter camo, but it sure likes to pick up seeds .

Had another evening at the Kachina Wetlands, There have been a few nice sunsets this week. -
The problem with the pike is that they will not be limited to just one lake. The illegal bucket stockers that feel pike need to be in more lakes have transplanted pike to Ashurst, Marshall and Francis Short Pond. A recent netting of Ashurst produced just ONE trout. Ashurst and Lake Mary used to be great trout lakes.
