Looking to get a gun for my daughter
Red Rabbit replied to WOODSAZ's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
A chipmunk 22 in pink Remington Model 7 in 7mm-08. 6 1/2 pounds. There is the managed recoil ammo in 7-08 also for practice. Rem used to have a Model 7 youth, but I do not see it listed. http://remington.com/products/firearms/cen...-seven-cdl.aspx -
That male trogon sure was a colorful fellow with the red/orange breast, white collar and blue/black head. Wonder how many Goulds turkey hunters chase him and his call around looking for that turkey hen?

You mean like this? http://www.mothwingcamo.com/patterns/canyon

Here is something for the Lilliputins to read: http://azgfd.net/artman/publish/NewsMedia/...k-testing.shtml No CWD detected in Arizona deer and elk testing

The 2010 Bonus Point reports for the 2010 draws have been posted already (links on the G&F page below). http://www.azgfd.gov/eservices/BonusPointProcess.shtml These would be for the elk, antelope, turkey, bear, buffalo hunt draws. With the deer applications due in early June, one still needs to look at the 2009 report to help make deer unit choices.

The 2010 bonus point reports are out and there were 261 people that applied for those 4 permits of my hunt. Eight people had 9 Bonus Points.

Grab your camera! http://www.azgfd.gov/i_e/photo_contest.shtml I looked at the honorable mention slideshow. Not many big game species shown, so here's an opportunity to best a lizard although that winning shot of the lizard in Antelope Canyon was killer.

Last night has been marked on the calendar as one of the days to view the nearly full moon rising between the spires of Cathedral Rock in Sedona as the sun is setting. The first with a few hikers below the spires gives a good sense of scale. A few more images were put in my photo gallery. Doug~RR

"My Mathews LX is still for sale!!!" I am still shooting the LX and think it is a very smooth drawing bow with acceptable speed (275fps @ 27.5" 65#). I have thought of "upgrading" but don't want to give up the smooth draw. The Bowtech General in nice in that respect.
-
but then he will have to change his user name You will only pick up about 9 fps, and have a little noisier bow with the lighter arrow. Dropping 15gr in point/broadhead weight may gain 2.5 fps- diddly- but moreso affect the weight-forward balance of the arrow. Sounds like a good reason to drop $1200 on a new complete rig in that quest for speed

Are the draw results up yet???

Sold Out http://azgfd.net/artman/publish/NewsMedia/...-all-gone.shtml -
Most likely you will be underspined. Here is their spine/arrow selection chart. They have an UL shaft to save weight, or you could consider another brand. Carbon Tech Cheetahs come to mind. http://www.goldtip.com/selection.htm http://www.carbontecharrows.com/

Be sure to post some fishing photos and landscapes of the geyser basins to keep us all envious. Have a great summer! RR

Danke. Wish I could have been about 20 yards away to get more feather detail, but I was standing out in the open and did not want to move and spook him. The lighting was really good on his feathers. Amanda, I hid it in "other big game"

AZGFD Wildlife Calendar Contest
Red Rabbit replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
Doug, What were you thinking about submitting? I was thinking that I may enter this Goulds Gobbler. Need to take two more good wildlife images before July. -
Bountiful hike for you Bill. That second white shed from the left looks impressive. Doug~RR

Probably best to give the appropriate ranger district a call. http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/asnf/

To have them file past so close must have been exciting for all of you to experience. Yep, luck is good thing to have on a hunting trip. Congrats. Doug~RR

Thanks all. A lot of the credit for the success goes to Chris Beck for his help based on his hunt last year. I weighed the bird and it was 19 pounds 6 ounces. The tips of the tail feathers were a little wet and dirty from its feeding along the wet creek bottom. Doug

Looks like a nice tom from in the snow. Were they actively gobbling and easy to call in after they came off the roost?

Thanks Brian. Rica doesn't know how big those Goulds quail really are -
How about a moo-cow deke instead? Or wonder how a mirror shield would work that would be like a GhostBlind but hand-held http://ghostblind.com/index.html Found it...called the Stalker Shield http://www.sportclimbers.com/antelope.htm http://www.sportclimbers.com/stalkerindex.htm

TJ, Are you checking any of the two boxes under the personal message before sending? One box is for a sent mail record and another for tracking. If not, there will be no record of a sent message. RR
