The Fog Finally Broke at the Canyon
Red Rabbit replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
Heck, if I had photoshopped in the rainbow, at least I would have also put in the little green leprechaun and pot of gold down in the canyon -
Mark Frieberg's number was at the bottom of the ranch cleanup post: Officer Mark Frieberg at 520-762-8172 or mfrieberg@azgfd.gov

The Fog Finally Broke at the Canyon
Red Rabbit replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
Sometime in the afternoon, a faint rainbow appeared over the chasm. -
I have been journeying to some neat places in Northern Arizona and taking many landscape photographs the past year or two, in addition to carrying the camera on hunts. With many of the better images gathered and processed, I have just put together a photogallery on SmugMug to share these images. I hope to add more images and galleries as I photograph various other locations, so feel free to visit the gallery site occasionally. http://dougkoepsel.smugmug.com/ I hope you enjoy. Doug

TJ, If I click on the gallery photo, or the title of the gallery, all of the image thumbnails appear for me. Did you try the "next" button? If you put the cursor on the image seen to the right, you should be able to select what image size to show for that pic. Doug

AZ hunting and fishing licenses are available online again. http://azgfd.net/artman/publish/NewsMedia/...ine-again.shtml

Matthew, You'll have fun in B and a good hunt again. Wonder if the SCAT guides got a "pre-buy". Doug

You might keep an eye on SampleList http://www.samplelist.com/Binoculars-C5.aspx#Zen-Ray Sometimes Zen-Ray.com will have "refurbished" where the box is damaged. "For Sale" forum on Optics Talk http://www.opticstalk.com/forum_topics.asp?FID=32 Good Luck. I doubt the new ED2 would appear much.

I have just added a couple more elk photos and a gallery of Sunsets. Doug~RR
-
Phil, Nice find. Hopefully all the normal snow this year will keep the elk from spreading out across the summer range before they drop. Now would be a good time to start tracking the bull herds from afar, but not spook them so they split up and run to the next county.

Mike, I'm sure you are already working on that first TC for the young hunter What cartridge you choosing? Doug

Congrats to your family. How is Mom after the big event?
-
Alex, That is good news
-
Jason, Nice chair with some nice features, but it does seem to have Mercedes pricing (but then, what doesn't that has quality).

Thanks. Brent, I most always use a polarizing filter to eliminate the glare that hides the colors. Even deep in Antelope Canyon there was glare present. But it can make the blue sky too dark or uneven from side to side across the horizon. Doug

Scott, Hope your mutts treated you well today Doug

Chris and Dan, Have a good one today. Must be tough having pink hearts on your birthday cake every year though RR

Somewhere warm in the desert, possibly with running water. Sycamore Creek on the way to Payson? Is there a place towards superior? Bring lots of toys, healthy treats, and plan short activities. Have a fun weekend.

Game&Fish - Operation Photo date check
Red Rabbit replied to C.O.U.E.S.'s topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
The jpeg data from properties is what is wrong on the pictures I was refering to . How can that happen ? Is there a way to set the time, date, etc. ? You should be able to go on your camera's menu and reset the day/date/time. -
Neck sizing vs Full Length resizing
Red Rabbit replied to luvdemcoues's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
After a while of neck sizing only, you may have to partial or full-length resize if the case becomes to hard to close the bolt on. If you full length resize, push the shoulder back each time and there is a some headspace that the case stretched into when fired, you may end up with a case separation above the case web. Full length sizing may work-harden the brass and cause you to anneal the brass. I have normally done a partial resize with full length dies. I turn the dies in just enough so the shoulder is touched, but not bumped back. One thought is that neck sizing just to the base of the bullet contact, and not the entire neck, will promote accuarcy by helping align the cartridge in the chamber. I d not know if you would see a difference in accuracy in neck vs partial vs full-length resizing for a factory hunting rifle. -
Game&Fish - Operation Photo date check
Red Rabbit replied to C.O.U.E.S.'s topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Even if the date/time stamp is not showing on an image, most jpegs will have exif data to show the date and time of photo, along with the camera model and its settings used for the photo. Right click on one of your images stored on your computer and look at the advanced summary of properties. The visible date/time stamp might be handy to show on a trail cam pic, but is rather unsightly to be blazed across the photo from a regular camera, imo. -
I see where Olympus is coming out with a 30x Compact Zoom Camera. 28-840mm range. That would be like 17x magnification. Wonder what the image quality will be. http://www.dpreview.com/news/1002/10020207...00uzsp600uz.asp

That's a whole lot of nice coues "bone" being displayed and held.

Feb 15 is the deadline to have your entry in for the coues buck contest. You must have registered/signed up last fall before the hunts started. If you were were successful on your hunt, please be sure to have posted your hunt story in the forums and have emailed me your field photo and link to story. You can look through the photos above in this thread to see if I have your buck entered. Thank you. Doug~RR
