    Soup and Sandwich...

If one looks at the buck:doe ratio in the Hunt AZ book, one can notice the gradual decline in the ratio in the last 60 years since 1946 (not since just the widespread use of 15x binos). What is the unsaid change in the age structure????? I did an analysis of 36C regarding WT population, permit numbers and success %. I will need to dig that up.

    Seven Sacred Pools

Enjoyed some warmth in Sedona today. The side of Courthouse in the morning glow as I entered the red rock country. Took a few short hike to the Seven Sacred Pools near Soldier Pass. Was hoping to get a reflection of Coffee Pot, but the angle was not right. Tried a reflection shot the other way (the sunlit rock in the upper left blew out). Devil's Kitchen from a knob off the Jordan Trail. Today was "blessed" with clear blue skies and the only thing resembling clouds were the endless contrails. So today was a pseudo scouting trip for when some storm clouds arrive. Took Oak Creek Canyon back up to Flag and stopped to get this reflection picture of the snow on the rocks. It was getting late and the canyon was immersed in shadow. Put the white balance on "shade" to hopefully warm the photo and not get it too cool blue. Doug~RR

    Seven Sacred Pools

Thanks. I have to get a head start on the 2011 calendar, as I did not recieve enough "secret honey hole" locations to do a coues country format.

The better news will be that the full moon in 2010 will be Dec 21. So the last few days of the month should be good in that regard. No blue moons in 2010 though.

    Soup and Sandwich...

Seems the unit which is under alternative deer management guidelines for older bucks and a lower buck:doe ratio offered this: . . . . But on a December hunt where the bucks will theoretically come out as the rut nears, one hopes for this:

Larry, Did Chris give you a lucky red bean? The hunts do not seem to have the quality deer of ten years ago. Been tough spotting for my last 4 hunts in C. RR

    Hunting 34A Alone...am I stupid???

Had a Dec 34A tag in 2007. Hunted every day except 3 for Christmas. Did not see one IA. A SPOT might be good for her assuredness.

    Minox 15x56 or Brunton 15x51

JVS, The Jim White Doubler (2.5x) should clamp around the eyepiece of the Minox. I do not know if this one is still available. http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...e+doubler\ Jim White may still have one. Give him a call 928-635-5316

    Salsa Recipe

Whatever you make, it will surely be tasty. I can't recall a bad homemade salsa. Nor can I recall a store-bought in a jar better than anything homemade (Pace included ).
  11. I saw this posted on TAH and thought many of you may be interested in these shoots occuring the first Saturday of the month. http://arizona-rifleshooting.com/hunting-r...shoot-PRGC.html

    My Personal Best

The last day definitely gave a reward to you. But it sounds like a frustrating hunt with the reported deer and buck numbers. The buck's face gives the impression that he is an older gent. Did you have the chance to look at his teeth? RR

Brent, You could be a Colts fan and have to cope with the "tanked" game.

    OUCH!

Mike, Always watched the Cowboys after church on Sundays. But after Jones took the helm and the character of the players became more like convicts from the hood, I have lost a lot of interest in professional football. Played soccer for Baylor, before soccer was cool and popular. Played lots of league tennis after college, and coached a HS team for a few years. Never got into watching basketball though. Doug

    Brittany and F-250 Stolen

Ernesto, Fortunately, it is not my dog and truck. I reposted this from TAH.com in hopes someone might come across the Brittany pointer, and maybe truck, in Tucson. The unfortunate person is Brad, who posts as bstrat. Doug

    Brittany and F-250 Stolen

This was posted on TAH this morning. Hopefully his dog was released and will be found: "Hope & a Prayer Its a long shot but looking for any your help I can get. Stopped at Sportsmans Wharehouse in Tucson at 5:00 PM this evening 12/29. Bought some fly material and was out in 15 minutes. Came out only to discover my silver 2002 F250 crew cab license 380-TYF had been stolen. The bad news is my 6 yr old liver & white female Brittany was in the back seat and is also gone. Dog & truck are reported as stolen but if anyone happens to see the dog or truck please report it. The dog has contact information on her collar. Thanks Brad" http://www.thearizonahunter.com/forum/view...f=19&t=3945

    Most animals with an arrow?

Have killed multitudes of McKenzies with one arrow But photos like this and knowing one who has had a broken carbon arrow penetrate the forearm has one wary of cracked arrows after being hit by other arrows, glances, or misses. Closely check and bend suspect arrows.

    Vortex Impact spotter

Jay, Most say to go with the Nikon ED 50 for a light spotter. Looks like its weight is less than the Vortex. http://www.cameralandny.com/optics/nikon.pl?page=nikon8320 Some say to get the body separate and the different eyepiece (like a fixed WA for more FOV and eye relief, or bigger zoom) from Doug @ CameraLand http://www.shopwise2000.com/nilkon-spotting-scope-ed-50.aspx http://www.cameralandny.com/

    buying new bow imput please

Do shoot all the different bows you can to see what trips your switch. If you are into smoother draws like I am, you might consider the Elite Z-28 like Jamaro suggested, or the Mathews Z7, or Hoyt Maxxis.
