At the ABA Bowhunter Happening at Sunrise July 25&26, there is supposed to be a "long shooter" course with ranges from 50-100 yards. It will be interesting to see who does not score a 5 or 0 .

It has been since 1976 that I had used any differential equations, so I didn't want to get confused

For those of you swimming, fishing or boating this summer and might be looking for a waterproof camera, here is a review on DPReview. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q209waterproofgroup/ If you are looking for a compact super-zoom to stick in your pack or bird vest, here you go: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/q209grouplongzoom/ RR

First shot of the day (no warm-ups)? Angle of uphill/downhill? Adrenalin of the hunt opportunity? Wearing a jacket on a cool morning (not like summer practice at the range)? Breathing deeper due to stalk? How much is the wind blowing? Size of animal? Angle of animal? Posture/awareness of animal? Is the archer standing, kneeling, sitting? How long at full draw? Limited time to range, draw and release? Mentally judge yardage or use a rangefinder? No one max range for all situations, and a lot less than at the range or 3D course.

Hopefully everyone had a good time at the shoot and dried out from Friday. I saw a few CWT members there and saw a sticker in the parking lot for the competitve shooters. Weather was great for shooting on Sunday with plenty of sunshine and little wind. Jody and Eilene, hope you shot well. Competitive courses 3 and 4 were certainly challenging, but very enjoyable to shoot. Bill Quimby, thanks for the conversation and lunch on Friday. It was a pleasure to meet you, and hope to again later this summer or fall. If you went, you will recognize this scene before the base. A few more from along the highway towards Greer. Our camp with friends from Prescott was at the base of Greens Peak. Good food, company, and a roaring campfire. The clouds set up right for a sunset Saturday evening as many vehicles streamed to the top of Greens Peak to presumably watch the fireworks at Sunrise Lake. Doug~RR

Do you have a Sierra reloading book?
Red Rabbit replied to billrquimby's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Bill, My Sierra 2nd edition (yes, it's the first load book I bought in the mid 1980s) does not list a 140 grain load, only up to 120. Other manuals do not show WW760. The Hodgdon/IMR/WW load data web-site does not list WW760 with the 6.5RM. Doug~RR -
The groups are randomly put together. Double scoring where there are two score cards for each person being filled out by 2 separate people. Two others generally call the scores. Our group had a magnifying glass broke out a couple of times to call arrows close to the line.

There are rings for 12, 10 and 8 points. The animal body is 5 pts. Each course had 20 targets, and the total points was for 2 days with 40 targets total.

Remove the bolt, put the rifle in a rest, center a distant object (eg. corner of window frame or roof of house across the street) in the middle of the bore while looking through the barrel, and turn the scope dials so the reticle is aligned on the object. Just as accurate as a bore sighter to get you on paper. If you are way off left to right, adjust the windage screws on the rear base first (if you do not have dual dovetail rings/bases) before turning the scope dial. When you go shoot, put the first target at 25 yards and the bullet should be on paper to allow you to center and then shoot at 100 yards. Doug~RR

I recall when 2 misspelled words garnished an F on your handwritten paper, but college is no longer HIGHER education. Google toolbar has a spell check. One can download ispell, or copy and paste a response precomposed on MS Word.

I see the results are posted. http://www.sunriseskipark.com/3-d%20shooto...9_results.shtml

I'd check, but it would probably still show that I was unsuccessful for elk and antelope. No need for a deja vu of disappointment. So... no update from the sister's good friend in the front office???

Pretty nice largemouth pictured in this week's fishing report down next to the Arivaca/Patagonia comments http://azgfd.net/artman/publish/FishingRep...rt-July-9.shtml

Yes, and the envelope with my name on it. Can I take the ADA sticker off my forehead now?

You mean the state has money to pay someone overtime?
-
Hopefully it will not be as painful as the "Kick Me" signs we unknowingly wore on out backs as kids.

How will Cabelas know if a person is member of a conservation group? eg- my ADA membership included a couple of decals, but no membership card with my name on it. Will Cabelas be supplied a current list of members by the organizations? Doug~RR
