Mike, Double check the link. Doug

I suspect that a 600 yard shot at a standing deer is more "ethical" than a 60 yard shot at a running and bounding whitetail pushed by a deer drive. Even 200 yard shots from a rest at a standing, broadside deer can go awry; BTDT On some guided hunts here in the US and Africa, to draw blood is to pay the trophy fee. I am certain the buck I shot Dec 31 last year eventuallly died and became food for another organism. I looked for hours that afternoon and the next day to no avail.

MI man fined and revoked for killing elk too close to homes
Red Rabbit replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Here are some other articles in the White Mountain paper. The incident took place just a few days before the tag would expire at the end of July. http://www.zwire.com/site/index.cfm?newsid...05965&rfi=8 http://www.zwire.com/site/index.cfm?newsid...05965&rfi=8 http://www.zwire.com/site/index.cfm?newsid...05965&rfi=8 -

I do not believe John McClendon was penalized as he was not being paid to guide Malik. -
My thoughts also, as I had the same intention. Now if Santa would just leave a Yamaha Grizzly under the tree, so Icould spend the 25 dollars.

If your group is low & left, you would need to move the sight down and to the left (not up and to the right). As mentioned, do any adjustments on a calm day. What bow do you have? Model, draw length, poundage? Arrows and spine? Perhaps the arrows are not spined correctly.

I really, really like Mexico
Red Rabbit replied to Coues Sniper's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
Have you run the factory cartridges over a concentricity guage to see if the bullets are "straight"? Those 0.005+ out of alignment may be your fliers. What happens if you shoot without the brake? -
Back to 2 BP for elk and antelope this year, so will need to study the odds in various units closely. Don't think that I can wait another 16 years for an antelope tag or unit 9 archery bull permit.

I was thinking about putting together a Coues Calendar. Each month would feature a different hunting unit and feature a picture of the best trophy area in that unit. So if you would be so kind as to post directions to your favorite trophy spot harboring those monster bucks, I can go there next year and take some photographs for the calendar. We can publish the "2010 Coues Hunting Honeyholes" calendar and sell it through Amanda's store. Profits could go to this website. Please post your best spot for these units 6A, 21, 23, 27, 29, 31, 32, 33, 34A, 35A, 36B, 36C, 45(cover shot) Thank you for your support (as from the old Bartles and Jaymes wine cooler commercial).

Which model is the FoxPro?
-
You might try walkback tuning. http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.p...walkback+tuning And try some Slick Tricks or Shuttle Ts as they tend to fly better with slighty untuned bows than Muzzys or Thunderheads

How are you seasoned bowhunters changing your hunting tactics going from the Aug/Sept coues archery season to the Dec/Jan archery season?
-
A secret staying that way is inversely proportional to the square of the number of people knowing it. Wonder why one is lucky to read in a magazine only the state a monster buck or bull is taken? Even posting the unit of a hunge trophy, while not giving any particular spots, can effect draw odds. Look what happened to unit 8 odds after the Franklin bull. Might crop the skyline with identifiable features out of the hero pics if a huge buck is taken from a spot you or your friends intend to hunt again. Rather than asking/telling where, what about how (technique) the buck was taken so hunter skills may be improved. Wonder how many archers will be running around unit xx looking for the brother of that girl's big buck?
-
What the ****? Don't worry DB. I already looked up the area on the map and will join the multitudes of archers trying to find his uncle during the upcoming rut.
-
I suspect many have not altered their techniques to fit the time and place. What have you noticed that is different between mountain and desert behaviors, and what have you done to change your tactics as a result?

We sure could use the moisture and snowpack. Only received about 1.7" of the white stuff last night here in Kachina south of Flagstaff . I think we did get several feet of wind though . RR

Applications should be due the second Tuesday in Feb.

I wonder where in UT they came from? I would guess/suspect from the Plateau unit near Antimony. That herd is not known for trophy horns- lotsa 12 inchers. I thought they released some UT antelope near Dugas several years ago, also.

I was once given a poisonous bean before a hunt. Kalyn seems to have given you a charm that works well.

I am with Bill about high winds having a big effect, more so than moon or cold or clouds. Try to be out right after a long, hard rain stops.

I recall my dad getting my mom a kitchen faucet for mothers' day. not good. I will have to look if my dad is seen in the background of that video. -
What were you considering having done? If your Dakota is heating up your barrel (to be expected), you may be considering fluting. Here is what Shilen says about fluting. http://www.shilen.com/faq.html#question8 What Lilja says about fluting. http://www.riflebarrels.com/faq_lilja_rifl...rels.htm#stress I would be apt to use an ice cube, cold wet rag, or CO2 from a welding bottle through the barrel, to cool it while shooting rather than wait for slow air cooling to occur. You can run some water from a squirt bottle and rubber tube through the barrel and follow with a Bore Snake to dry it. If using water on the outside of the barrel, be sure the barrel channel of a wooden stock is sealed. I had the cerakote and ultra borecoat done to my rifle by Doug at UltraCoatings in Kansas. http://www.ultracoatingsinc.com/services.html
