Proper Way To Sight A Rifle?

Funny. Looks like the effects are the same as Rica's passenger window in the truck.

Here's a review of some 15X binos http://24hourcampfire.com/big_eyes.html The best is to compare them all at once, put them on tripods, look at a resolution chart and distant objects at dusk, and let your eyes decide. You may find that the Swaros and Leicas are not worth 3X the cost of the Minox (doug has em for $700) and you wish to take the extra $1300 and go on a hunt. RR

I think that the rain atop the snow was a blessing, as the runoff will help fill the tanks and lakes. We still have 5" of snow in my open backyard here in Flag, so it was not all lost. If we keep getting more snow (March is the big snow month, historically), then a spring rain, things will be great. The lakes in the White Mountains can use the runoff, Upper Lake Mary is about 18%, and lower Lake Mary is empty. A lot to the snow sublimes into the atmosphere and does not melt into the ground or run-off. This fall has been nice with a heavy rain early to saturate the ground, cold weather to freeze it, and now snow and rain atop it. Doug~RR

The chicken might be worth a go. Keep it running and watch carefully.

Looking for quail North of Pheonix

The call I heard was after we scattered a covey and I gave the Chicago call through the Lohman mouth call -
Mike, In 19B, 12 applied last year with 10 BP nad none were drawn. 19 applied with 9 BP and none were drawn. The 20% bonus pass went down into the 11 BP group, taking 3 of 4 applicants. In 19A first hunt, 5 applied with 10 BP and 5 were drawn. 11 applied with 9 BP and 2 were drawn. The 20% pass round took all 5 applicants with 10 BP, and 2 with 11 BP. Doug~RR

Mike/BH4L, I am assuming you have an average of 10 BP and are considering archery. I have heard that the K4 ranch in 19b is not allowing any walk-ins anymore. I do not think I would want to hunt the 19A zoo of bowhunters. Mike/257, I purchased the bonus point analysis from G&F

I hope these rains continue all spring and the Gambels can rebound. Last and this year have been tough, even in the "secret spots". I actually heard a call yesterday. Below is a not so secret spot judging by the traffic on the nearby road Tony, I have been selling that quail map you gave me for 10 bucks. Did you want a commission? -
Last year 5 people applied with 13 points, and 4 were drawn. the 20 tags in the bonus pass were issued to those with 11, 12 and 13 points. 11 people with 11BP applied and all 11 received tags. Last year 19 applied with 10 BP and 27 with 9 BP

Quail season does not end until Feb 11. I have been making plans for a final weekend hunt near Sonoita. Then it is time to call some yotes. Kinda neat to see em lope in.... and find a free V-Max dinner. Don't forget that the trout are spawning up at Lee's Ferry right now. Looks like this spring will be a good one to kayak the Verde and Salt Rivers. Shed hunting. Anyone have some spare weekends to lend?

I would head down to Patagonia and chase some Mearns that will hold for point. Those devil's Gambels may run and flush 70 yards out and keep running when they hit the ground, like I had happen repeatedly yesterday. Stay away from the cholla, for the dogs sake. Bloody basin, Orme Rd, Mayer, Rye might be places to start. -
I heard that another major optics manufacturer will be introducing a 15X bino at the SHOT show in Feb

Proper Way To Sight A Rifle?
Red Rabbit replied to Outdoor Writer's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Did we ever get Devin sighted in? Just want to bring this back to our attention. http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...?showtopic=5956 Tony, I see you corrected your spelling of politicaL There is a proper forum for "rifles, reloading and gunsmithing" to post this in, cuz nothing is mentioned about hunting coues with a rifle in this "proper way to sight a rifle" There are plenty of target faces to choose from here: http://www.mytargets.com/ http://www.targetz.com/index.htm including one for Tony's screen icon http://www.targetz.com/targetz-lib/20015.pdf An article on how to sight in a rifle by an authority http://www.chuckhawks.com/sight-in_rifle.htm -
What is your favorite pic from the past year that evokes the spirit of the hunt and joy of hunting (aside from a kill photo)? Post em up. Doug~RR

Finishing Touches---BRONZE!
Red Rabbit replied to Foundry Man's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Jason, That Coues bronze is turning out very nice. It will be nice to see some close-ups once you have the finishing touches completed. Again, THANKS! Doug~RR -
Mark, I has seen a lot of pics of peccaries that have died on those two log rounds this year. Mike must have a great spot. I think a couple of coues have been arrowed in those trees behind you Congrats! Doug

Bonus points question
Red Rabbit replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Mikep35 Say with 4BP, that gives one a 10% chance of getting drawn. If you put in together on the same app, you will have a 10% chance you would be drawn together. If you put in separately, there is an 18% chance one of you would be drawn (but not the other) and only a 1% chance both of you would be drawn. -
Spirit of the Hunt

NMtaxi, I like that pic with the wide angle and low perspective. First thought is "where did the 'bous migrate to? They were here in the past, according to the shed." Doug~RR -
You can compare factory ballistics here http://www.federalcartridge.com/ballistics...earm=1&s1=1 The 270 and 7mag are so close that I would choose the more accurate, comfortable rifle from field positions, and with the best trigger. I have not found the 7 mag recoil to be abusive, but the 270 is friendlier. Regarding being able to load hot and get more velocity, I would not want a possible pierced primer and gas in my face. 3200fps with a 130 grain and sane pressures in a 270???

Is the $500 limit for just the rifle, or for rifle and scope?
