CnS, In the article, they used 168s from a 300 mag, and a 264 WM, in addition to smaller slower chamberings. Seems that regardless of velocity or distance or caliber, the results were similar. I like the high BC and hopefully the accuracy offered by the VLDs. I am hoping to get the accuracy that I have not yet gotten from the Accubond in my 6.5 WSM. The delayed expansion is unlike the results of a Ballistic Tip or SMK. Doug~RR

http://www.nssf.org/news/PR_idx.cfm?PRloc=...PR=BP070207.cfm Proposed OSHA Regulation Threatens Firearm and Ammunition Industry The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the government agency charged with assuring the safety and health of America's workers, is proposing a regulatory rule affecting the manufacturing, transportation and storage of small arms ammunition, primers and smokeless propellants. As written, the proposed rule would force the closure of nearly all ammunition manufacturers and force the cost of small arms ammunition to skyrocket beyond what the market could bear—essentially collapsing our industry. This is not an exaggeration. The cost to comply with the proposed rule for the ammunition industry, including manufacturer, wholesale distributors and retailers, will be massive and easily exceed $100 million. For example, ammunition and smokeless propellant manufacturers would have to shut down and evacuate a factory when a thunderstorm approached and customers would not be allowed within 50 feet of any ammunition (displayed or otherwise stored) without first being searched for matches or lighters. NSSF and SAAMI have already had a preliminary meeting with OSHA officials to begin the process of explaining to them the major problems this proposed rule presents for all levels of the firearms and ammunition industry. Furthermore, NSSF and SAAMI are each seeking a 60 day extension of the public comment period (currently scheduled to expire July 12). NSSF is urging all retailers to contact OSHA directly and request a 60-day extension of the public comment period. Retailers should inform OSHA that the proposed rule constitutes a "significant regulatory action" as defined in Executive Order 12866 (1993) Section 3(f)(1) in that it will clearly "adversely affect in a material way" the retail sector of the firearms and ammunition industry, productivity, competition and jobs and that the annual compliance cost for all retailers of ammunition will far exceed $100 million dollars. If you choose to draft your own letter, the reference line must read as follows: RE: Docket No. OSHA–2007–0032 Request to Extend Public Comment Period and Request for Hearing on "Significant Regulatory Action" as Defined in Executive Order 12866 Please fax the letter to: 202-693-1648 (include the docket number and Department of Labor/OSHA on the cover sheet and in the reference section of your letter). This is what I would recommend for metallic reloading: 1) RCBS Rockchucker Supreme press 2) RCBS Chargemaster 1500 electronic scale combo (better/more convenient than a manual powder scale, trickler, scoops and powder throw) 3) case trimmer 4) deburring tool 5) loading block (Midway has cartridge specific ones that work better than the one size fits all) 6) Hand primer- 7) Powder funnel 8) Hornady/Stoney Point oal guage and modified case 9) Hornady/Stoney Point bullet Comparator- for bullet seating depth 10) Hornady One Shot spray lube (easier than lube pad) 11) dies (sizing and bullet seating - 2 die set) 12) RCBS shell holder for press 13) Hornady reloading manual (good info on reloading steps) The RCBS Advanced RockChucker Supreme Reloading Kit includes items 1-7. I have a Uniflow powder measure, but rarely used it except for ball powders for the pistol or H380 for the 22-250. I really like the Chargemaster combo instead of a beam balance scale. You probably won't save any money reloading, but you can choose the bullet you want and most likely get a load more accurate than factory ammo. If you only shoot a few boxes a year, I'd stick with factory ammo. Doug~RR

Did it get too hot on the dash? The original Bushnells did not work well due to high temps. Did you try a new battery? -

Guess it rained enough to keep the Tusayan and Williams districts open. WILLIAMS, Ariz. —The Williams and Tusayan Ranger Districts of the Kaibab National Forest will remain open due to recent rain. However, the North Kaibab Ranger District of the forest will still close to public access beginning at 8 a.m. Friday (July 13) unless measurable precipitation is received before then. Still no welding or external generators. http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/kai/news/releases/...krd_closure.php

Any update about the shooting woes?

From looking at some of the pics, the fire may not have been sterilizing intense, and it could green up when the monsoons arrive. The fire on the rez side may have also pushed a lot of deer over into 36.

I had the Minox 15's. If you turn the eyecups all the way in and drape a black towell over your head and bino to cut out the peripheral light, you will not have to push up against the eyecup as hard. The Velbon Sherpa tripod which Amanda has in the CWT.com bookstore will be sturdy for the binos. Doug~RR
