Real NICE find that would be neat to incorporate into a lifesize lion mount. RR

DUG, In that price range, you might look at the Minox BD 10x42 BR w/ Asherical lenses. These have gotten great reviews. Check with Doug at CameraLand on these. Some info on binoculars: http://www.consumersearch.com/www/sports_a...tory.html#intro from winter of 05: http://www.birds.cornell.edu/Publications/.../Age_Binos.html The chart makes for some great comparisons. Swarovski, then Leica. The negative about the Swaro is the larger size of the aiming circle, but it ranges further and has better optics, according to side-by-side reports. Check with Doug at CameraLand for the Leicas. Have not read any good reports on the Leupold RX IV RR

Those Ocotillos like growing in the limestone, which is calcium carbonate. Of course calcium makes for strong bones (got milk?) and BIG ANTLERS. RR

The boys from behind the house were down in the meadow this Friday evening. I was hoping the sun would peak out from behind the clouds and give some great lighting, but no such luck. Three of the fourteen. The single bedded bull got up for a stretch.

Darren, I like how the rays of light come through the storm clouds. Jim, I'll send you the licensing agreement and fee schedule Doug~RR -
Spray your feet with an antiperspirant before you put your sacrificial socks on. They make a deodorizing soap for neoprene that might work on your boots. RR

Just a couple pics from this evening at the Kachina Wetlands. The San Francisco Peaks on the horizon. A few quackers making an evening flight. Doug~RR -
Just got back from a quick scouting trip the afternoon. Lots of puddles and all the tanks caught water. Will try some varmint calling in the canyons. Saw an F-250 abandoned in the middle of a muddy flat. RR

I liked to dig a hole, pour in a whole bag of trace mineral salt and pour 5 or 10 gallons of water on top, and let it soak in the ground. No salt blocks for someone to relocate on you. The brown trace mineral blocks should be of more value to the deer and have some molasses. Also harder for people to see than the white blocks.

Josh, Shoulda stopped by and you could have borrowed a canoe. Right now, Dry Beaver Creek is at 1280 cfs. We had a good lightning storm; unplugged the computer and phone for an hour to be safe. Doug~RR

10x50 or 12x50 for for glassing coues?
Red Rabbit replied to kphunter's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I would bypass the 10's and 12's and get some 15's and a tripod. I would favor 10x42 over 10x50 for the weight savings and there's not much less light gathering at the first and last five minutes. Even a pair of 10's on a tripod helps a lot over handholding. Keep your 8's for around the neck and ready-on-the-quick looking. I'd seriously consider the 15's and a tripod. RR -
Those semi-sneak poses are great. Enjoy your mount. Doug~RR

judging from the bleached and chewed condition of the skull, would have to say that it's been a few years since there were deer roaming the hills of 23. Eyeguards-too funny RR

I have a Labrador retriever, and was buying a large bag of Purina at Wal-Mart and was in line to check out. The woman behind me asked if I had a dog? (Duh!) On impulse, I told her no, I was starting The Purina Diet again, although I probably shouldn't because I'd ended up in the hospital the last time. But I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms. I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way it works is to load your pants pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again. I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story, particularly a tall guy who was standing behind her. Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no, I'd been sitting in the street licking myself and a car hit me. I thought the guy standing behind her was going to have to have help as he laughingly staggered to the door .

A lot to be said and gained about being nice and doing the right thing. Now, about the USPS, it still has one of my paychecks for $14k stuck in some unknown mailbox. Mailed back in April. RR -
Thanks Dave. RR

How well do the Blazers stabilize a broadhead versus 4" fletch? Any clearance problems with the rest due to the higher profile? RR

Neat find! Fallowcoues? Moosecoues? RR

P&Y Doug, I picked up the Eureka Zeus Exo 2 man. Single wall, easy to set up, like 3 lbs 10 oz. I wanted some more room to sit up and some gear than the bivy. The Exo has ventilation/condensation problems of a single wall, but should be OK in the desert southwest. I am thinking about the Brunton stove. Sold an MSR Whisperlite (pre-shaker) in the garage sale for $10. Kept a Coleman Peak One Exponent Apex which works well, but I will list it here later. Also a Moose bag and rifle carrier for an Alaskan frame. the other Doug RR
