  5. What G&F says is good advice. Look for berries. You may find them at first light along the dirt roads getting water from puddles. The fires this summer may have affected the 610 road Areas: Concentrate your efforts on the southeast side of the Plateau in sub-unit 12AE. Areas around Crystal Springs, Sourdough Well, and along the 610 rd near the National Park Boundary provide the best opportunity for finding the often secretive Blue Grouse. Look for areas with mixed conifer, aspens, and berry bushes in close proximity. Grouse, like squirrels, appear to be most active early in the morning but walking throughout the day can result in flushed birds.

Nice scope. I just put this model LRHS on my 6.5 WSM. Bump.
  8. SOLD- Winchester M70 Featherweight Stock. Long action. One piece bottom metal. Nice wood. This is a stock from a 30-06 which I purchased new and I put the barreled action into another stock. This stock has not been in the field or range. Located in Flagstaff.

    6.5 Creedmoor or 7mm mag

I'd take the 7RM for a better chance of an exit hole, and its 4x on the low end of the scope power for greater FOV when hunting close.

    Bulldozer in the 6.5 WSM

The five shot group of 68.0gr shot better than the 68.5gr load this past weekend. Now to order more bullets as I initially only ordered one box of 50 since I did not know how they would shoot. Next will be to vary the seating depth.

    Bulldozer in the 6.5 WSM

Dan/Win71, I ordered them direct from Badlands. https://badlandsprecision.com/category/2/bulldozer Next I will try some 5-shot groups of 68.0 and 68.5gr as I think 3300fps is feasible. The groups and SD seemed they were tightening as 68.0 gr was approached. Also will shoot a couple through layers of board, wax and water to check expansion. I was interested in seeing the cavity, so a bullet was put in a vise and a hand grinder used to remove the profile. The aluminum tip flung off, so it was lucky to be found.

    Bulldozer in the 6.5 WSM

This Saturday morning, I shot the sets of 3-shot groups at 100 yards. Temp was about 75 degrees and the wind was calm. Charges ranged from 65.0gr Ramshot Magnum to 68.0gr in 0.5gr increments. This charge range was chosen based on the previous velocity to charge test. I did not do a round robin shoot as OCW suggests, but shot each 3-shot group separately. Velocities were measured with a ProChrono. Between 3 shot groups, the barrel was cooled 10 minutes by running air through the barrel via a 12v air inflator and rubber tubing into the chamber, and wiping a wet cloth over the barrel. Groups were shot with the Omega suppressor attached. Here is the data table of velocities, average velocity, ES extreme spread, and SD standard deviation for each set. Granted, 3 shot groups are not the best for ES and SD determination. For those OCW oriented, here is a plot of the group centers for each charge weight. The first group for 65.0gr magnum was the 2nd smallest at 0.296" The last group for 68.0gr tightened up from those of 66-67gr and had a lower SD. Any thoughts and suggestions are appreciated. Next will be to shoot some 5-shot groups of chosen loads, and test the Bulldozer bullet into some media (board, paper and water jugs) from the 6.5 WSM and 6.5 Creedmoor.

    Podcasts are ruining hunting areas

Podcasts are a part of social media just like this website, facebook and instagram. One says something about a good buck or bull in unit #x, and bam, more people put in the next season for that unit and the draw % goes down. You take or tell your buddy about a good spot, and now everyone knows. A secret is inversely proportional to the number of people that know. Why do some blur the background in their trophy photos? Some have recently complained about the number of deer permits in each unit, but they are only about half of what they were 20 years ago. Drought, forage, predation, hunter success, that effin survey, and G&F budget all effect the permit numbers.

Considering the date of manufacture, this should be a great shooter. My friends' 270s from the '70s were sub half inch. free bump.
