NOAA's forecast discussion this morning said they do not expect any precip for at least 10 days. It will be 70 here in Flagstaff by the end of the week. I would concentrate on areas around water if sitting does not bore you to death.

Another powder to try would be Ramshot TAC. I once tried loading a 60 gr partition for a javelina hunt in my 1-14" 22-250, but the bullet key-holed at 100 yards. Current load is using 50gr Hornady V-max, TAC and Fed210M.

Thanks all for the comments. Flatlander- Jackson Hole, DuBois or Hoback would be nice places to live. BigBrowns- that herd of bison was right by the side of the road. So many were packed together it was hard to isolate one.

Hunt where there is no cholla. Rica figured out prickly pear, but never learned about cholla or porcupines.

I drew a permit for 6A archery javelina. No turkey tag was drawn this year.

My guess is that the screw holes are not true as 300RUM said. You could try the windage adjustable bases and new rings. I would shoot it first and try adjusting the scope before buying new bases/rings though, in case the bore sighter is way off

I used the 129 SST in a 260 Rem on an antelope in Utah several years ago. Hit him in the spine at 450 yards, so the exit was a little "open".

A good friend was told all the powder burns in 16-18" in a 30-06, so he cut off the barrel to 18" to save weight and then added a brake to cut recoil in his son's 30-06. It is a much louder and flashier SOB than his wife's 22" 30-06 with brake. The powder may have burned, but the gasses are still expanding in a longer barrel to provide fps.
