Has anyone used one of the Helinox chairs for glassing? Pros? Cons? This model is only 1 pound. http://www.campsaver.com/helinox-chair-zero?utm_source=website&utm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=vs_hp_helinox_june

Helinox Chair for Glassing?
Red Rabbit replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Scott, I suppose it is still more comfortable glassing than a foam pad, even if you cannot lean back in the chair while eyes are in the binos. Have you tried a black eyepatch for use with the spotter? -
Helinox Chair for Glassing?

May be good on a slope, but it may provide faceplant entertainment after a beer around the campfire?? -
I recall the opening dinner at Camp Geronimo being deep pit burro. It was the second best meal of the week behind Wednesdays chicken and cherry pie. But this was before the feral horse and burro act and the mess hall

Helinox Chair for Glassing?
Red Rabbit replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I have tried a couple of Crazy Creek "chairs" in hopes of finding some back support. I went back to just a foam pad and occasionally lean back to stretch out. With this Helinox chair, I wonder if leaning slightly forward is comfortably doable. Perhaps a trip to granola REI to test is in order. Thank y'all for your responses. -
These ought to be great for long range shooters/hunters to spot their hits. Gotta get ya sum.

Whats the longest youve left an Elk in the field
Red Rabbit replied to trphyhntr's topic in Elk Hunting
The longest has been about an hour before tracking and photos were finished before field dressing commenced. Get the hide and guts removed asap, or do a gutless method. If mounting, be sure to get ALL of the neck meat out and the hide off to the jaw ASAP if you cannot cape yourself. -

https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/coconino/news-events/?cid=FSEPRD547173 NO CAMPFIRES. PERIOD. Coconino NF entered stage 2 restrictions today. No campfires or charcoal even in developed campgrounds. No chainsaws, No target shooting. There were over 30 abandoned campfires last weekend, one of which started a small fire on the Peaks. Campfires were illegal last weekend in dispersed campsites. Fuggin idjuts.

Good price on a nice build. I just bought a 28 Nosler last fall. Bump to top.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Proof Research barrels. The graphite pattern looks cool too. -

"After this age threshold, female elk become almost bulletproof, virtually invulnerable to hunting." Guess there will be no worries now about shooting the tough old lead cow

Has anyone tried these from Rudolph? http://www.opticsplanet.com/rudolph-optics-gear-quad-shooting-sticks.html I just got a set of the short version but they have not been out of the living room yet. With support front and rear, they seem steadier than bipods or cross sticks. Easy to adjust height. Windage would be adjusted by moving one of the bottom sides forward or back on the ground. As soon as this 40mph wind quits, it will be time to shoot.

Let's narrow this 6.5 chamber down (help)
Red Rabbit replied to Zeke-BE's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I like the looks and longer neck of that SLR. If you are looking for reduced recoil, what about a 6 CM or 6mm SLR ?
