Thank you for looking and commenting. Until I got a camera, I was neglect at visiting our backyard.

Garth gave me the impetus to put some images into a slideshow, which I had not done before. These 90 seconds are the result of hours of trial and error (lotsa error=hours ). My laptop's 4MB of RAM are not made for doing this. Anyway, here is a test run, so we're open to critique. http://vimeo.com/61121125

A friend was going to Monument Valley Friday, so I was asked if I wanted to ride shotgun. This was the first time I was able to visit Teardrop Arch. It was a long but worthwhile day. Thanks. This wold be a good location for including people. We were talking of having Ms Yazzie dressed in traditional garb and playing a flute.

I went out this evening to take a short walk with Rica. I had just gotten out past the driveway when I saw body parts fly through my peripheral vision. I quickly went back inside to get my P&S camera to document the crime. Fortunately, I was able to photograph the assailant standing over his lifeless victim. Be careful out there.

The lady down the street likes feeding the birds, so the hawk does have a plentiful supply of eurasian doves.

Sehr Gut!

If one says that you can apply online until 7:00pm, the system should be functional through that time Conversely, if you have a 100k warranty on your drive-train and the transmission fails at 99k miles, would you be happy if the dealer says you should have taken it in sooner? If one waits until near the deadline to apply, then are they are not a serious hunter? Are only serious hunters allowed to apply then? If one waits until April 15 to pay their taxes, are they not a serious American?

Thanks for looking and letting me share my passion.

Friday evening and Saturday offered different conditions in Sedona. With the incoming storm, Friday had sun and clouds. Saturday held a constant sky of snowflakes. And the white cometh. Thanks for looking.

Just a reminder that this Friday, Feb 15, is the last day to submit your entries for the Coues Buck Contest. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/34667-2012-coues-buck-contest/

Cool buck. What kind of age did his teeth indicate?

I've never seen a frost flower, but then again I have never found an arrowhead either.

Now THIS would be a birthday wish come true!

Looks pretty nice. Also light would be the Kimber Mountain Ascent (granted, it's not custom and all that goes with custom), (but it'd be a less expensive BD present for you from us cheapskates ) http://www.kimberamerica.com/rifles/model-84m/mountain-ascent- 5 replies

I think the camera is mounted and moves along a track while the time lapse is made.

This 15 minute time lapse photography of the Canadian Rockies will be time well spent viewing full screen. This brings back memories and spurs an adventure. My best summer was spent in 1983 when I travelled from Texas up to the Pacific Northwest, further to Banff and Jasper, and back through Glacier and Yelllowstone. http://vimeo.com/45941676

I had my Goulds and a pair of harlequins done by Sven Eberson of Wildlife Wings in Glendale. Work was very nicely done, imo

Some guys I met on the trail were hiking up to 9500' to find the elk. It took a friend of a friend a few days to get his bull off the top considering all the deadfall as he could not get his horses there. If I were to apply for the hunt, I would only consider the first hunt.

Congrats Doug on your picture being selected as a finalist....
Red Rabbit replied to scoutm's topic in The Campfire
Thanks. The one of mine that was selected is the sandstone close-up in the Macro category. My friends Peter Coskun and Adam Schallau have images selected in the Landscape category. Winners should be announced in the September issue of Arizona Highways, so we'll see. -
This past weekend was a cold one at the Grand Canyon as a small cold front came through Thursday night. The temperature was -9* at the canyon Saturday morning. Ice was on the outside of the sleeping bag inside the camper shell. A friend and I photographed from Hopi Point Friday evening and Lipan Point Saturday morning, hoping to catch the clearing storm. We had some scattered snow flurries and patches of light in the canyon both evening and morning. Sunlight on the ridges and temples. The last of the sunlight strikes the falling snow. Dawn's earth shadow from Lipan Point Falling snow over the Palisades gives the morning sunlight a nice soft color. My favorite from the weekend at the ditch. Red light is cast across to points off the north rim. The red is gone out from Cape Final.
