Hunting TVs seems rather popular around Flagstaff. One can go to any cinder pit and see the dead TV carcases. I wish some would be charged for wanton waste of TV dinners though.
-
I certainly hope you got drawn for rabbit. The number of permits were increased to 23,500 this year.
-
What are we going to do if draw doesn't come out today?

Ringer, I doubt this is a diversion. There have been plans to introduce the wolf to the Mogollon Rim, San Francisco Peaks and North rim for a while. See Gary's post. As he posted on MM, TAH, Don Martin will be happy to send anyone a copy of the proposal. -
Two times a year, the sun sets at the proper declination to cast the shadow of the West Mitten upon the East Mitten. This year, some light clouds gave some color to the sky, but also diffused the sun's rays and lessened the shadow. After viewing the Mitten Shadow event Friday evening, I continued north into southern Utah to visit a couple of photogenic ruins. Each required an easy 45 minute hike down a canyon. House on Fire Ruin. Late morning light reflects off the sandstone in front of the ruin to give the layered edges of stone above the ruin a flame appearance. Fallen Roof Ruin. These granaries are located about 100' above the canyon bottom. A few small corn cobs were still on the floor of one compartment. Taken with a Tokina 12-24 @12mm as I could not take another step back. Being an Anasazi must have been a difficult life living in a cliff face and depending upon nature to provide food, clothing and shelter. Doug~RR

Mike, Was that you and your son I saw on the afternoon "news" about winning the dribbling contest? Congrats for your endurance. How many hours? some info about the contest http://www.azfamily.com/sports/Phoenix-Suns-Dribble-Til-You-Drop-competition--145806205.html?gallery=y&c=y&img=0&c=y Doug~RR

You might do a search in Adorama to see what is available and in what material and for what price. Consider the height of the tripod with the center column not extended, for less vibration of the optics. If you are looking to stand behind the tripod, selection is limited and prices are higher. http://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?op=itemlist&cat1=Tripods&cat2=Tripod%20Legs%20%26%20Leg/Head%20Combos&cat3=Tripod%20Legs%20for%20Still%20%26%20Video

You might give Kilamanjaro/Scottyboy a shout.

Thanks. I keep thinking how we consider going tent camping is "roughing it"
-
You should call the bank/cc company and have the charges declined, just in case you made an error
-
Cool. I have not seen a Gila in over 40 years.
-
Stan, What was your original email to SFW to help put their response in context?
-
HBD Keven. I hope G&F maxes out your card today for all those permits
-
Has the Kaibab NF published a hard copy of the travel map, available for purchase?
-
Dan, HBD! Surely an elk is saving a boney present for ya.

Utah as a model?

I thought that on MM.com there was a post showing that about half of the sheep permits in Utah were either via auction or raffle. -

It might be possible that the event was organized, Gov Brewer and Charlie Daniels enlisted, before SB2072 came to light. -
Winter's last few days ended with its biggest snowfall. Flagstaff was covered with about two feet of snow, and the San Francisco Peaks received close to four feet. On Sunday and Monday, I headed south from Flagstaff to Sedona and Oak Creek to enjoy the combination of white snow and red rock. I like the low clouds that waft around the tops of the mountains. Here is the Nuns formation near the famed chapel on the rock. Monday evening, the storm cleared to give nice evening light on Cathedral Rock. These reflections pools were quite popular as several other photographers were huddled around the small pools. Some more trip images from the Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona area are at the end of the Sedona photo gallery. http://www.plateaulightphotography.com/Landscapes/Sedona/11290567_shCCPw#!i=1758373022&k=xxZCPTL

Looks to be a neat area, especially the slot. I supppose there are plenty of other ruins too in the area. Looks like you beat the storm with the open sky sleeping bags . -
